We booked to stay on 14 & 15th September 2020 and when we arrived Petra was very helpful and let us check in early so we could head off and enjoy a full day in Cheltenham. We stayed in the Tivoli room which was comfortable and clean and had a huge TV on the wall which was positioned very close to the bathroom door but it did not hinder our access. There were tea and coffee making facilities with a range of tea and coffee but these were not to our taste which was a shame but this is just our personal preference. However the kettle cable was plugged in at the side of the dressing table in front of the window and could have easily been knocked off when opening and closing the curtains as the curtains were draped over it. This should be looked at. One of the bedside lights was broken and the shade hung to one side. Although the lamp worked this is a safety issue that needs attending to. The doors to the small wardrobe were extremely noisy so a little bit of lubricant would be helpful. In front of the wardrobe was a rug on floor which kept moving on the new carpet which was a trip hazard and needs an anti slip backing fitted. Each morning we had a continental breakfast delivered to our room and whilst this was generally ok we would question the quality of the ham which was very thick and looked processed so we couldn't eat it. Our biggest issue was the car parking. We unknowingly parked our car under a pine tree and our car was covered in large droplets of sap which took an eternity to remove when we got home. This must be a problem that the hotel are aware of and should be advising customers accordingly. Having said all this the hotel is in a very good location close to town and its amenities and for what we paid it was value for money

Received an email (pre arrival) asking if there was anything they could put in the room for us which was a great idea as most hotels do not. On arrival we were early but were greeted by Damian the housekeeper who was friendly and accommodating. The Hotel is beautiful and set in its own grounds with free parking. Our room was on the first floor, The Leckhampton. Nice soft double bed with en suite shower room. Nice quality towels and free toiletries so no need to bring any. The decor of the room was very nice and tastefully done. The whole Hotel was spotless. There is a communal lounge and a lovely conservatory where there is an Honesty Bar. Wine, beer, cans of G&T and soft drinks available for a good price, just put what you have on a chit which will be added to your bill. The breakfast area was in basement and greeted by a lovely gentleman who took my order for toast and a fabulous English breakfast with locally sourced produce of a high standard.Cereals, preserves, fresh fruit, fruit juices and tea and coffee machine for you to help yourself.
The location is perfect with a short walk to Montpellier where a great selection of bars, restaurants and independent shops. A 10 minute walk into the city centre.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and hopefully it will not be long before I stay again.
Well done.

We stayed in the Tivoli room. Very comfortable spacious accommodation. Covid safety was very evident with hand sanitizer available at all points of contact.
Breakfast ( continental) safely served on a tray , all beautifully boxed up every morning. Plenty of team and coffee and biscuits provided in the room . We made our own bed ( our choice ) and felt that the staff were doing all that they could to make our stay safe and comfortable. There is a short walk to Montpelier with shops , restaurants and bars. Central Cheltenham is only a 15minute walk away so it’s a perfect spot for a stay. Highly recommended.

On arrival this building is very impressive and in a great location.
We didn’t like the self check-in and the fact there is nobody there to welcome you or assist with baggage. We found this quite strange.

Our room was small, nowhere to put our suitcase. On checking the bathroom I found it wasn’t very clean, black between the tiles and the shower hose. The television was quite old and we could not get it to work. England were playing in Euro2020 so we needed a TV. We phoned the number we had been contacted from and Petra said we could go into the office and take the key to the room opposite and move across there. This was a much bigger room and nicer bathroom.

The first morning we had lukewarm showers which we reported and to be fair it was fixed when we returned.

Breakfast was not in the dining room but a continental breakfast on a tray was left at the door in the morning. Apparently due to Covid?? This was our third hotel stay of our holiday and we had been served breakfast at the others. Restaurants are also open so I don’t really understand why this had to be.
The meal consisted of a ramekin sized dish of granola, 2 strawberries, a banana to share. Some processed ham in a box, bread roll and a croissant, small packs of plastic cheese like you get on a plane, small glass of juice and we made our own tea. Not the sort of breakfast we would choose or expect for the price we were paying.

It is a lovely old building in a great spot but it really needs a little TLC and a more welcoming arrival. Not sure I would recommend Lyppiat House

Firstly, I undoubtably have a lot of respect for people in hospitality considering recent times...

There's a lot of options in Cheltenham, there are cheap chains, mid range B&B's and the top end more boutique options. We thought we chose a more top end option, but we were proved wrong.

On arrival, no basic welcome or 'how was your journey?' just a frosty reception and a plastic envelope with passive aggressive parking instructions given to us. That was it.

The room itself was dated, the furniture was threadbare and stained. The bathroom had mouldy grouting and again dated.

The business centre/lounge area was 'decorated' with empty wine bottles and a spare toilet seat.

We really did scratch our head as to why we'd just spent £150 on this. There are really fine places in Cheltenham that would be embarrassed to charge this price, but almost arrogantly Lypiatt House don't even wince at asking for this.

Booked Lypiatt house hotel on Booking.com on 23rd July 2020 for a future stay in March next year . Had confirmation from booking.com and direct from Lypiatt house on 23rd July .I then went ahead and committed to other expenses and bookings only to receive an email on 25th July saying they had made a mistake and the booking was cancelled .
The hotel blamed Booking.com and they blamed the hotel
And then furthermore I got another email today telling me if I don't cancel the reservation they will charge me
Utter farce where is the customer service ?

We eventually got to stay in this lovely hotel after several date changes due to covid (we had tickets for a show at the Everyman Theatre). A text was sent to us on the morning we were due to stay with instructions for the self check in and breakfast arrangements. Entry to the hotel was easy and our room was lovely and large. Breakfast was delivered on a tray and left outside our door as arranged, it was very well presented with museli, a good mix of fresh fruit, a selection of cold meat and cheeses and a mix of warm croissant, brioche and and small breakfast rolls. Would certainly stay again, everything was well organised within the restrictions that covid requires.

Stayed here for 2 nights- the first night the radiators didn't work so a bit cool especially in the bathroom, nor did the extractor fan and there was a chipped glass in the room-reported this to the lovely ladies at reception but i think we were ignored as the only thing that was working slightly was a slightly warm radiator only in the bedroom so the bathroom was s chilly, which due to the clanking kept us awake all night on our 2nd night. We did have a problem with no electrics to our plugs on the 2 nd night which we were originally told to move our appliances including the hotels tv to another plug but it didnn't make any difference but was remedied by the lovely staff in 40 minutes. Also alight flickered all the time when you walked past it.
I think that the house maybe needs some attention to the wiring and plumbing. But a lovely stay and lovely breakfast.

Nice position ,lovely building ,easy access ,with keypad ,very good breakfast and great to be able to park easily . Sad to say the room was a tad tired ,soggy bed ,couple of cracks in the ceiling ,the worst aspect was the en suite ,accessed by 3 high steps through what i can only imagine was the fire breast at some point ,the heating was not working on our first night so not very comfortable ,however a word with the cleaner Damion ,the following day got it sorted ....except only the bathroom rad worked ,seems the thermo valve was missing form our radiator..? would we stay again ....yes ,its convenient for Cheltenham town ,its food outlets and shopping ,plus parks etc

Stayed for one night after going to see a music night. Room very cold even though heating full on. No heating working in bathroom. Shower and shower tray very limescaled. The shower hot and cold around the wrong way so could be quite dangerous for someone older.Toilet seat had been drilled back on so prutruding up. The bedspread very stained. Still using sheets and blankets. Mattress okay with one person and soon as two people you roll into the middle. Needs completely redecorating. Lots of cracks etc but given that it is a beautiful old house i can imagine up keep is horrendous. Good points breakfast good and staff friendly. I wouldnt stay again unless works were done.
