We’re a bit of a rare breed amongst Cotswold hotels. Our thinking is, if you’ve got it, flaunt it. Nestled very nicely in the ‘Queen of the Cotswolds’ village of Painswick, our picture-perfect Palladian house is your new home-from-home. Boasting roaring fires, sink-into-me sofas and seventeen bedrooms where peaceful slumber beckons, we’re the perfect place for a snug escape in the countryside.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow, wow, wow! A rare treat to experience a sublime evening. The whole experience was delightful. I was lucky enough to spend s few hours with a group, celebrating a friends birthday. Everything was 'first rate'...attentive courteous staff in an impeccable environment. The buffet style food was sublime. 10/10

We were treated to an afternoon tea at The Painswick as a birthday present. The voucher was easy to download. The food, service and surroundings were lovely. We would highly recommend the treat and thankyou for the 'bottomless tea' ! A heads up The Painswick is down a narrow lane but you will be rewarded with an easy access car park !

We booked for Sunday lunch and an overnight stay as a birthday treat in October. Had a perfect stay. Food, service and accommodation 10/10. Ok the back of our stay we recommended The Painswick to my parents for an anniversary celebration. 12 of us ate today in the private dining room. Again service and food was faultless. Highly recommend The Painswick.

Me and my wife had dinner on Friday 3rd Nov. Cocktails by the fire first of all, followed by a fantastic meal. The beef cheek starter was exceptional. The beef Wellington and mink fish were pretty good as well. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Very highly recommended.

Want an absolute DREAM! I found this spot on Instagram when planning a trip with my daughter. It was beyond expectations. The staff is incredible, beyond. So lovely, warm and help. The room (Doverhill Suite) was gorgeous, bed was a dream, the views unforgettable, fireplace magical and all felt so comfortable. The food was amazing, breakfast included was so thoughtfully done and satisfying, tasting menu was out of this world and afternoon team was just right. I cannot wait to come back!

What an absolutely amazing experience. My fiancé suprised me with a night's stay in the "George's Suite" What a beautiful place to stay The decor and Country aesthetic was just beautiful. We chilled throughout the day taking advantage of room service. And In the evening we had a drink before going for a meal in the restaurant. The food was exquisite. All the attention to detail was amazing, bringing out a cute little birthday treat too. We then retreated to our Suite and relaxed in front of the amazing authentic log fire place. In the morning we took advantage of room yet again service again and had a lovely breakfast in the Suite and then relaxed on the balcony taking in the breath taking views. We had such a great time. With almost a year to the day to our wedding at St Mary's Church Painswick. We felt so special and can't wait to come back. I fully recommend it.

We stopped by the Painswick hotel for afternoon tea when we were staying in the local area. The hotel is a beautiful mixture of modern decor in an old building with stunning original features. We had afternoon tea by the giant fireplace and it was the perfect cosy afternoon. The staff were more than accommodating as we had our 12 week old baby with us and the food was delightful. Great service in a great setting, we hope to visit again.

My husband and I were in the UK for over three weeks, walking the Cotswold away over a period of 13 days and staying at six different properties along the way. The Painswick Hotel was one of our very favorites! Our room, Cuttles Mill, was delightful in every way, with very comfortable beds, great views, and a fabulous claw foot club I used nightly. The afternoon tea was the best we had, and we had quite a few over the course of those three weeks! The staff was lovely, helpful and friendly in every way. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and energetic cleaning staff that scrubbed the hotel every morning. Would stay again given the opportunity and highly recommend!

There comes a point when you just give in to the fabulousness of this place, all critical judgement suspended, and float around just soaking in the ambiance, the service, the food and the details. We came for a wedding, and so had the glorious place to ourselves. They make you feel so at home - and there are some beautiful rooms to explore and rest awhile. The service was impeccable and unobtrusive and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The wedding was arranged for outside but then it rained. In no time at all everything was rearranged inside, flowers, candles and all. Canapés were copious and delicious, with special diets catered for. The meal was superb. My starter of scallops were the best I have had, beautifully cooked. And the sticky toffee pudding melted in the mouth. Our room was gorgeous, with plenty of tea/coffee, plus lovely shower (in the bath, though) and towelling robes. We would love to return soon.

We stayed overnight in a perfectly pleasant room, maybe a little bit on the tired side but it must be a huge bill to maintain somewhere like this. The views were great and the bed extremely comfortable. I have had better breakfasts mind you elsewhere. We didn’t eat in the evening, so I can’t comment on that, but I was told pleasantly enough but in no uncertain terms that baked beans are not on the breakfast menu they don’t have them, I did sort of want to giggle when I was told this! - to be honest a bit too ‘posh’ a place for me and my partner. It did us overnight.
