The Sheep on Sheep Street hotel stands out for its prime location, which guests frequently laud as perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. While many reviewers highlight the hotel's cleanliness and vibrant atmosphere, some have mentioned that the lively vibe may interfere with rest. Opinions on service and value vary, with mentions of both helpful staff and moments of slow service, alongside mixed views on pricing. Although the rooms are noted for their cozy charm, there are calls for updates to maintain the hotel's appeal.

Spent 2 nights at the Sheep, booked on their own website so got breakfast included which is not the case when using an agents site.
The room was small (we booked a comfort double) but tastefully decorated with a good sized bathroom which had good quality soaps etc, coffee is from a Nespresso machine which is nice but if you want a bigger cup of coffee press the button twice. Tea is also provided and a kettle for that also. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice and super quality.
The location of the Sheep is fine although the road did get busy at times the car parking is at the rear and it was easy to get a space but the hotel wasnt any where near full so I think during busy times may be difficult to get in. The town square is a couple of minutes walk away with a few bars and tea rooms as well as the shops and small co op should you need any bits forgotten.
We ate here on one of the nights the food is very good and the portions are on the large side so go in hungry and you won't be disappointed.

This was our first visit to The Cotswolds and this is what exactly what we hoped it would be like. This is what we had imagined when thinking about a romantic getaway in the countryside with our dog.

The Staff:

Very friendly and accommodating. I have never met friendlier people than in The Cotswolds in general; the staff at Sheep on Sheep Street were quite exceptional. From the warm welcome upon checkin, being shown the restaurant/pub, to our rooms, and dining in. The breakfast was included when we booked directly with the venue and it was delicious!

The Inn:

Our dog had a bed and bowl waiting for her in the room upon arrival. We had a kettle, coffee machine (capsule), still and sparkling water, and tea sitting on top of the dresser. The room was quite charming (great choice of paint colour), the only downside was the lack of a refrigerator - this was easily fixed when the bar chilled our champagne for us. There was a double door (great for keeping in the heat). The outer door is the one that locks leading into a tiny area you can take muddy clothing off before getting into the room itself.

The heat worked great, the duvet on the bed was so good we looked up where it was from as well as the pillows. The bed was very comfortable and it was easy to sleep. The unfortunate thing is that for a night or so the neighbours upstairs were a bit noisy, but it did not ruin the stay for us. The bathroom had both a shower and bathtub as well as towels and toiletries needed for your stay.

Food:

The breakfast was from their normal breakfast menu. It was delicious! They also had a continental bar with mini pastries, bread with butter, greek yogurt and and toppings, milk and cereal. The staff at the Pub/restaurant were lovely and always had a smile on their face.

The overall experience again, was exactly what we had hoped for. Well needed rest and wonderful stay. We will without a doubt be coming back. The small town has everything you need and hiking trails that lead to plenty of villages that will take you more than the short winter days will allow.

We only had one night here both myself & my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a lovely place with a really nice feel about it & as we stayed on a Saturday we got to experience just how busy this place gets. They had parking at the back of the hotel which is always a bonus. The lady on reception was lovely, she quickly got us checked in & shown us to our room which was up quite a few stairs so if you do have any mobility issues, you would need to mention this at time of booking. The room had everything that we wanted. There was coffee & tea making facilities in the room, complimentary bottled water & even a small bag of fudge. The bathroom was a good size & the shower was amazing. We ate here on the Saturday evening but the one thing that I would say is that you must book. We hadn't, but we struck lucky as they had a cancellation so managed to get a table but everywhere in Stow was busy so booking is essential. Food was lovely & the breakfast was great, loads of choice and hot food cooked to order, staff are all really friendly too. If I was to be picky I would say that the paintwork around the place needs some attention both going to the bedrooms & in the bedrooms, well in ours anyway as it was quite marked, just needs a lick of paint in places. The one bit of advice that I would give is book with the hotel direct. I was going to book through booking.com but I rang the hotel direct & if you book through booking.com you only get room only but if you book direct with the hotel you get breakfast included & that's well worth having. Overall we had a great stay, lovely place & we'll definately go back.

We booked Sheep on Sheep Street due to its location, car parking, on site restaurant and breakfast.

We booked a cosy room which is definitely more than that! Very roomy (room 7)! Comfy bed and lovely powerful shower. We made use of the coffee machine in the room too.

We had snacks and drinks in the restaurant which were very tasty indeed.

Breakfast was included in our room rate with a great choice of hot dishes including full engilsh and Eggs Royale.

Added bonus was that they were able to store our bikes in their shed overnight too - huge thanks for this!

All the staff we encountered were wonderful and very friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here and no doubt we will be back!

Check in was really good for COVID protocols - our room items such as toilet roll and shower stuff were given to us in a bag and the pen we used to sign in was then quarantined. The room was clean and just what we needed for an over night stay. On our first night we had some food and drink in the outdoor area. There were several large groups of people (more than the government rule of 6), they were smoking in the non smoking area, spitting their drinks on the ground and swapping seats with people from other tables. This made us feel very uncomfortable as we are following guidelines quite closely so don’t feel comfortable dining inside. Members of staff walked past several times over the evening but didn’t do anything to stop these groups. Because of this we chose to eat somewhere different on our second night.

Breakfast on both mornings was delicious, cleaning was done well in between guests and there was good distancing between tables.

My Brother booked a room for us in the Sheep hotel for one night, but we decided to change it to two nights to catch up with family, we asked at reception if this was possible and it was no trouble at all, we did need to change the room which was an up grade but we were not disappointed. The room had tea, coffee and two selections of bottled water, these were replenished each day. The bed was very comfortable as were the quilt and pillows. The room also had a small sitting room which could be shut off and the bathroom lead from there. It would have been nice to have a small TV in the sitting as to not wake anyone who was still sleeping, but this was not a major problem. We booked a table to eat in the restaurant at the hotel, there were five adults and one child, there is a children's menu available, there is a good selection of things to pick from burgers and pizza to steaks.
We chose a variety from the menu and we were all very happy with the food.
Two of us chose the Old Spot Ribeye which was cooked beautifully. The breakfast is included in the room price, there is a chose of a Full English or a Continental, I chose the full English and was not disappointed, my Wife chose the Continental and had a chose of various pastries, breads and fruits. We chose to eat at the hotel on the second night, even though we did not have a reservation and they were very busy on the Friday night, they managed to find us a table for two in no time at all. If there is anything negative to say it would be the car park which is very small for the amount of rooms they have, but to be fair they are not able to enlarge it as there are buildings at each side. There is parking on Back walls road and there is no time limit, unlike the road in front of the Hotel. We stayed in room #15 which is in an adjacent building, you have to go outside to be able to get back into the hotel and there is no roof so if the weather is not good it could be an uncomfortable meal in wet clothes. I have noticed the next item in various hotels in England, if you want a none slip mat in the bath you have to ask Reception, which is stated in the information in the room, but if you forget and are undressed ready for a shower, you either get dressed and go ask or as the person in the room below did, shower without, he unfortunately fell in the bath but was unhurt.
Having said all of this, I would recommend the hotel and we will certainly stay there again when visiting the Cotswold's

We stayed in the hotel for one night and cannot wait for our next stay! The staff were friendly and welcoming whilst adhering to Covid-19 restrictions. The location of the hotel is perfectly set in the village centre but still offers parking at the rear for guests.

When staying here, booking in for dinner and breakfast is a must. We received a great service from the staff, the food was reasonably priced and the portions were very generous. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their meals and felt at ease in the restaurants relaxed atmosphere.

The hotel room was clean, spacious and fully equipped with a large bathroom that included a large bath and walk in shower. Our room even came with an outside garden area which was perfect for sitting out in the morning sunshine with a coffee.

Unfortunately our week in Wales was cancelled so we decided on a mini break closer to home. I'm so glad I chose this hotel randomly. We upgrade our room on arrival and quickly decided to stay an extra night. The assistant manager (sadly I didn't ask her name) was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Our garden room was delightful and we even had a jacuzzi bath! Naturally things are done differently at the moment but the staff were amazing and constantly cleaning tables and chairs as soon as they were vacated. It's a shame that rooms can't be serviced during your stay at the moment as it's a lovely moment when returning from a day out and the bed has been made and everything is clean and tidy! However, that's a small price to pay if it means hotels can keep going and we can all still get away and have a break. The food here is top notch and all meals are cooked to order. It's a great location for visiting the surrounding area - Bourton on the Water is a 7 minute drive away. Definitely recommend Sheep on Sheep Street.

The hotel is located right in the town of Stow-on-Wold. A wonderful example of the Cotswold's style. The rooms have nice touches like a Nespresso machine, feather pillows and an electric shower tap. The restaurant food was very good, using local products. However, if you prefer to go out for meals there is a lot of choices in the town.
A charming establishment

Lovely location central to shops etc and ideal for walking.

Staff were overall very helpful and pleasant. Bed was comfy with lovely bedding. Room facilities replenished with bottled water & toiletries. Room well heated & had an additional plug in heater & ironing board/iron and fan. Car park was ideal but not large so once there best to leave your car there. Some areas needed attention for improvement

1. Room floor boards creaked badly, we could hear the neighbours moving around and talking due to thin walls.

2. We were above the main building door & repeated banging of the main doors disturbed our sleep late and early times of the day.

3. The room had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling over the bed. Aside this the room was clean.

4. Bathroom wall paint & the bath sealing needs re-doing, was not done very well at all and didn't look professional.

5. Slip mat or bath non-slip strips should be compulsory as too late by time someone gets in the shower to read the room information to request one with risk of slipping. It was difficult to get in/out of the bath safely

6. Food overall was delicious and of high quality although one breakfast black salmon was served which should never have reached the table. The male service staff could have been more apologetic at time it was mentioned to him, it was however refunded. Would have expected the level of response as we received from the check out lady who we must add was very professional, friendly and had high standards of customer service delivery throughout our stay. Dining area was pleasant. Only issue we had was we felt some of the tables for 2 were too close given COVID. Staff dud clean Dow both the tables and chairs between customers.

This is a lovely place but we felt the room was overpriced especially given the issues we identified
