Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This room in Stowe is ok for an overnight stay but when you go solo - or even a deux - it's really strange to arrive to find a huge double bed AND a mattress laid out on the floor for another 1 or 2 people - but no comfy chair, sofa or space!! Also only one bedside lamp and a decidedly wobbly and slopey bedside shelf. Turns out the extra bedding was a sofa but why on earth have it set up when you are only 1 or 2 people. The room also smelled somewhat of a barn and you can hear every breath of the people above and are shaken by each of their footsteps on the creaky floor boards ... it's ok and reasonably comfy but worth close to £100 for one - absolutely not!!

Good afternoon. I was surprised to learn of the additional bed in your room and apologise for the inconvenience. I can only assume it was a case of rooms being changed around and this didn't filter down to the house keeping staff. I am glad the rest of your stay was a success. Alex Davenport-Jones

We stayed at the rooms a short walk from the Bell. Parking was very convenient. The rooms had nice touches, were tasteful in decor, but small. The pub was very good, a modern take on old world charm, light and well presented. A shame that we didn’t have rooms in the pub itself. Stow is well worth a stay - enough to keep you interested for a couple of days.

We had such a wonderful time! My husband and I are visiting a friend for a week and we all wanted to explore a bit of the Cotswolds. I booked two rooms at the Bell’s Stuart House months ago and the stay was everything we hoped for. Check in was smooth and Sally gave us directions to our rooms at the Stuart House, which just a short way up the street. We stayed in the Otter room and our friend had the Squirrel room. Both rooms were comfortable, clean, decorated beautifully, and the bathrooms were large and very well done. I especially loved the towel warmer and the shower amenities. The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet at the Stuart House, so we slept great. I purposefully booked rooms there so we wouldn’t hear noise from the pub in the main hotel building - we go to bed early - but we did pop down to The Bell in the evening for a few drinks and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. Sally also made check out easy and quick! She was so warm and gracious. We highly recommend The Bell and will stay again the next time we are in the area.

Very pleasant Cotswold pub just on the edge of town - A 5 minute walk maximum to the town centre. Stayed in the annex which is in the town centre. Smallish room and bathroom but everything worked and was very clean. Ate in the bar. Reasonable menu options, not quite gastro pub but very tasty and overall good value.

We stayed in the Stewarts House location of the Bell for my partners birthday with our dog. The room was soo cosy and immaculate we did not want to leave. The shower was great and the room had a selection of coffee and tea as well as complimentary sloe gin. Breakfast was excellent, choice of continental, cooked breakfast, eggs benedict and many more. Staff were also polite and friendly. Will definitely be back!!! Location was spot on!!!

Great hotel and superb staff. Room was superb, very cosy and comfortable. Staff are extremely professional and we're even kind enough to get my wife a bunch of flowers for our anniversary. The breakfast is delicious as was the evening meal which we had as part of the winter break.

Lovely stay at The Bell. Have stayed many times over the years. Comfortable room with plentiful quality shower gels etc. Excellent breakfasts. Nice evening meal. Fabulous staff-all very very friendly and efficient. Service superb. Great value for money. I have always rated it a 5 but this time felt the room was a bit tired and some of the little touches (like tissues and the port in the room) were missing and the food was not quite as good as in the past. Nevertheless a pleasant and convenient place to stay when visiting the Cotswolds.
