If you are intending to stay overnight, there are five rooms to choose from, ranging from the stunning “Stag”, with a free standing bath in the bedroom, to the snug “Fallow”. All rooms have been recently re-furbished, blending ancient stone and woodwork, with contemporary style and sophistication. Some come back hoping to meet The White Hart Hotel’s non-paying guest, a friendly ghost whom the locals have nicknamed ‘George’. He sometimes manifests as a vertical white light after closing time in the bar, but only rarely appears as a figure – and then apparently for a reason.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were a table of four and everyone of us had the most delicious dinner. I went for the flat iron steak, it was so full of flavour and so tender, melted in the mouth, we shared some sides, the Beetroot, Asian Pear, Walnut & Goat’s Curd Salad was delicious and complemented the steak perfectly. Zac served us and was informative, very friendly, professional and his recommendations were perfect. A memorable meal, best in a long time and we can’t wait to return. Thank you

Stopped for a drink very expensive a group of 7 was turned away who wanted to eat. They were told at least an hour and half wait even though the bar staff repeatedly said in our hearing they were not busy. Would not recommend there are better and cheaper places to have a drink

Lovely weekend away, team very welcoming, friendly. Room rustic and clean but oh so so cold! Windows need attention amd radiator just needed bleeding. Food exceptional both at dinner and breakfast. If it wasn't for cold room it would have been an excellent review.

Great ambience and both high quality food complimented by superb service. The service could not have been better with everyone being very attentive and rooms are of great quality. Can't wait to return and enjoy other options on the menu.

Sunday lunch for two and had the beef which was ok. The service was very poor with little attention paid to us..no one checked to see how our food was, whether we wanted starters, extra drinks or desert. We then got a bill with service included not optional. Spoke to the manager whose only response was not to apologise but to credit the service charge but was not interested at all. Very poor. AR

Right in the heart of Stow, A1 atmosphere, the rooms were comfy and very clean, a great breakfast included in the room price and within walking distance of everything in town. I’d certainly choose it again.

Three night stay in the Cotswolds at this very comfortable hotel. The trip started with an upgrade to room 9, away from the main house with entry under the arch. Fabulously decorated and all the facilities you would expect. Very clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. Very full breakfast with lots of choice. A limited evening menu but excellent quality. The burgers are particularly good if you are looking for something quick, chips are McDonaldsesque, but you can substitute for a salad, if like us you are careful what you eat. Nice outdoor area too and a fully stocked and regularly open bar. Only minor critique is that you may have to wait for the bar service at times as understandably the business does seem to ask staff to multitask at certain times of day, no problem for us, but we did see one couple walk out, clearly not prepared to wait for a drink. Overall, excellently situated, good service, and very good value for a short break in the Cotswolds.

We enjoyed an amazing two nights at the stag on stow and it was just perfect. The room decor was great, lovely bathroom and the bed was extremely comfortable plus the room had all the amenities you could wish for. The food was so delicious we ended up having breakfast and dinner there both nights, plus the team working there were very friendly and welcoming. Mark, the manager, was simply fantastic throughout our whole stay from the minute we arrived. I highly recommend this as a place to stay and a place to eat. We will definitely be back! 10/10

Stayed for one night here on way back from holiday in Cornwall. Beautiful features with this old hotel . Happy with our room , paid £85 and was really happy with the facilities in the room . We had our little dog with us and the room was perfect for us all ! The bar was well stocked with local beers , gins etc and Josh and his female colleague ( didn’t get her name !) were absolutely fabulous hosts and made us feel very welcome! Only down side with this hotel was as it is very old the floors are very noisy and didn’t get much sleep as other guests making a lot of noise . Thanks for a lovely stay . We will be back ! 😀
