Nestled in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, The Old Stocks Inn is a recently refurbished 17th-century coaching inn that really stands out from the crowd. Our boutique hotel is luxurious, but not stuffy. Elegant, but not pretentious. Quaint, but not twee. We're passionate about what we do and we have fun doing it. We think this all adds up to a unique experience for our guests - but come and see for yourself!

Lovely hotel, very clean. We had a deluxe double and the room was a nice size and had a large bathroom with a bath and a shower. The bed was very big and comfortable . The staff were excellent and very friendly and accommodating. The hotel really tried hard with covid restrictions, all wearing masks and those serving food wore gloves also. The key was sanitised before They have it to us and there were dettol
Wipes and hand sanitiser around the hotel. The hotel is small but lovely. The rooms are not cheap but what you would expect to stay in the Cotswolds and the hotel has put complimentary drinks in the room fridge as well as nespresso capsules and biscuits. There are also nice quality toiletries in the room. Breakfast was very good value for money. We would definitely return.
We would have liked to purchase bottled mineral water and the hotel only serves reusable bottles with filtered water. We didn’t feel comfortable using this with covid . I appreciate that they are trying to be sustainable however during these times it would be nice to have the option to purchase bottled water .
Overall though very nice stay and excellent service

Firstly I must declare a bias in writing this review as my wife and I love the Old Stocks Inn, we have stayed here several times before and will stay here in the future. However we did approach this visit with some apprehension as it was our first visit post Covid. Any worries we had were reduced by the information provided prior to arrival outlining the precautions taken to ensure our safety and the safety of the hotel staff. Nevertheless we were concerned that the friendliness, professionalism and service may be lost in trying to provide a safe environment. How wrong we were, all the things that make the Old Stocks exceptional were still there. Comfortable, clean bedrooms tick, great food tick and individual service tick. Some things had to alter for covid eg the room wasn’t serviced for our two night stay which we knew about before we arrived. Having to make our own bed wasn’t a hardship and the peace if mind gained knowing no one else would enter the room was well worth it. I should say I actually liked the fact that we didn’t have to get out if the room to allow a cleaner in as it allowed us to come and go as we pleased and not have to get out if the room straight after breakfast. The menu was slightly shorter than pre covid but the food quality was just as good and there was plenty of choice. The staff were in protective equipment but this didn’t get in the way of service and they still had time to chat which is what turns a meal out in to an occasion. If you are reading this review and considering booking please book I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you to Charlotte, Richard and the team for making our stay special, for all your hard work and planning to get the hotel up and running safely and for managing to retain the heart and soul of the hotel.

We stayed at the Old Stocks Inn for one night in September 2020. From walking in, we were greeted warmly. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean, a large comfortable bed, and decorated to a high standard. Lots of little touches which made it all the more enjoyable - some complimentary drinks in the mini-bar, a good quality Ruark Bluetooth speaker, free tea and coffee in the room. The ensuite was large, with a roll top bath and a separate shower. The property benefits from a really central location in Stow on the Wolds, so great to explore the village!

The Old Stocks also benefits from a huge patio area, lovely for a drink in the afternoon, and a cosy bar area. Great selection of ales, nice to see UBU on draft, a good selection of gins and an extensive cocktail menu. We ate in the main restaurant, the food was excellent, good value and served in a friendly, relaxed manner. Nice to see a lack of pretentiousness and focus on more relaxed and informal approach. Breakfast was excellent, very good quality bacon and sausages, well cooked. The staff were excellent throughout, nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to returning.

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights in August, we booked a cosy room as we knew we would be out most of the time. (Room 14)

Firstly checking in was simple and smooth and the older lady at reception was so polite, smiley and helpful everyday. (Sorry I can’t remember your name)

The room was big enough for us both and has everything we needed, they filled the free mini bar up everyday and cleaned the room m, it was spotless . We had a lovely double shower and nice touches, it felt lovely and homely.

Breakfast was amazing no faults at all, the staff was very accommodating and there was a wide selection of options hot and cold drinks/food. The dining area is also very lovely relaxing area.

On our first night we had a drink in the bar, also very lovely space to relax and enjoy a nice drink. The bar tender Bogdan and manager Richard was always very welcoming and always made time for conversation.

The location is also great it’s straight on the high street, there is plenty of parking in their car park or at the front. It’s walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars.

Overall the stay was incredible, the staff are lovely, the place is incredible and true value for money.

We cannot fault our stay at all, thank you to everyone who made it memorable.

Many thanks
Corrie & Joel

We stayed at the Old Stock Inn for 3 nights on one of their mid week deals. From the moment we arrived we received a very warm welcome and it was clear that this was a very lovely and stylish hotel. I have to say the decor really impressed me, from the quirky art deco cocktail bar to almost a Scandinavian vibe in some areas. Original features such as exposed wooden floors and victorian tiles in the bar and then modern touches such as herringbone tiles in bathrooms. All very stylish and looked brand new.

We stayed in room 18 which they described as a 'cosy great' which was basically the second best type of room. We absolutely loved our room, it was large with a massive comfy bed, it had a beautiful rainfall shower and huge roll top bath which I used. There were small touches such as a few complimentary drinks in the fridge and a nespresso machine with plenty of capsules. We simply loved this room!

The room was quite hot so we did have to open the windows all the time, this was fine for us as bar was very quiet mid week, but I imagine in summer, at the weekend this rooms might get some noise pollution from the pub garden.

We visited the cocktail bar and restaurant during our stay and both were very premium experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. We never felt the hotel was over crowded or noisy.

I also have to add that the management at the hotel were incredibly kind and helpful when my partner was taken ill during our stay. They went above and beyond to help and advise me so I am realy grateful for that. (I unfortunately didn't catch their names to give them a personal shout out).

We really hope to stay in this wonderful hotel again - our only ask would be to please repair the pot holes in the car park drive way, we nearly didn't make it up 😉

Fantastic stay and all very close and convenient for stow-on-the wold amenities as right in town centre.

We went last night for dinner. The staff greeted us warmly, the dining room is well spaced with tables well apart from one another. They are incredibly Covid compliant; contract tracing, questioning about our health & took our temperatures. Staff are all wearing masks. The food was beautifully presented & so delicious. They were able to accommodate my gluten & garlic intolerances & even remade a dish that came with shrimp (hubby can't eat) with no hesitation. The staff are really friendly & helpful. I would recommend this to everyone!

We decided to treat ourselves to a belated anniversary night away on the hotel’s first day open after the Lockdown. We were welcomed warmly. Our room was absolutely gorgeous with many little touches that made us feel very spoilt. We took a drink in the bar before enjoying an excellent dinner with a bottle of wine suggested by our friendly and helpful waiter. Slept very well in our comfortable bed.The breakfast was perfectly cooked. All round a great experience. We can’t wait to go back!

We recently stayed in one of the garden rooms for two nights. On arrival we lucked out and managed to get a parking space in the car park at the back of the hotel and parked there for the duration of our stay. Check in was easy and felt Covid secure without being uncomfortable or unwelcoming. The garden rooms have outdoor access and we enjoyed being able to come and go without passing past reception each time.
The room itself is a little small but was fine for our short stay. The bed was comfy and the bedding was snuggly warm. There was everything we could have wanted in the room- a coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer. The tv had Netflix and Amazon prime on it which we appreciated with the current 10pm curfew. The bathroom was great. I loved the shower- really high pressure and lovely and hot. The toiletries were lovely too.
We ate breakfast each morning and it was of a high standard. The coffee was strong and the food options were great. We had the vegetarian breakfast both mornings and it was great.
We followed one of the suggested walks on our first day- a local walk of a couple of miles. Easy to follow and nice to have a route that didn’t need us to drive to the start.
Thanks for a lovely stay.

We stayed at Old Stocks Inn for Valentines day and overall we had a lovely time. The inn is located right in the centre of Stow on the Wold which is very pretty. The hotel is furnished very well we loved the decor, our large room was very clean and the bed super comfy! We were in room No.4 at the front, please note as it is an old building it was very noisy, we could hear everything from rooms above and coffee shop below- fine for a night or two but not for a long stay! We were a little underwhelmed with the free minibar, it contained 3 soft drinks, milk, water and 1 G&T- much appreciated of course! but when this is sold on the website as part of the attraction of the room we were expecting something a bit more exciting...
We ate in the hotel restaurant for our dinner, the food was excellent and the serving staff very helpful and happy to speak to the chef to make amendments to the set menu. Breakfast the next morning was also great.
The atmosphere in the bar/restaurant throughout our stay was a little... off...? Hard to explain but we didn't feel like we wanted to spend any more time than necessary there and some of the staff on the bar were very cold boarding on unfriendly! Overall it is a nice place to stay for a couple of nights as part of a Cotswold visit but we probably wouldn't return in the future as there are other hotels in the Cotswolds we prefer.

We had the most amazing room. Everything was so well thought off and just perfect for a family with kids. I truly loved the decor of the hotel, it has been decorated with great taste.
What made it less of a gem to us, though, was the staff. We felt they were in a bad mood and had to make a real effort to press out a smile or even a hello. This is not a cheap hotel, and after reading the reviews I expected warmhearted service.

Dinner was OK although a little overpriced in my oppinion. But what truly bugged me, was that they charge extra for a capuccino at breakfast. I’d easily have traded the complimentary gin in the minibar for a good cup of coffee in the morning. For a roomcharge of 199 pounds, a capuccino shouldn’t be a big deal.

Dear 'Rose095', I am truly sorry to read your review of your stay at The Old Stocks Inn, in particular the comments regarding our team. If you want to get in touch with us at the Inn, we'd love to hear what we can do to improve as we hate letting our much valued guests down. Kindest Regards, Charlotte Tuck
