A title correction 😁 still a lovely boutique pub, hotel. If your eating try and ask for the restaurant section, they have about 3 tables in the bar which can get quite crowded. There is a lovely log fire in the winter. Car parking at the rear of the hotel which is pay and display. Take a pair of slippers as the...

Beautiful little pub with stunning open fire. Very picturesque and perfect for a lazy weekend away. We ate here twice in two days instead of venturing further afield as it was just so good. Food was great, lovely varied menu with good veggie options. Gnocchi with artichoke was lovely (portion a little small) and hake was excellent. Fast service, great...

We just stayed here overnight for a post New Year's birthday treat - it was everything we'd hoped for - roaring fire, casual, relaxed atmosphere, approachable and friendly staff and pleasing, simple yet stylish decor - great products in our bathroom and the restaurant loo, great bed linen, a cozy bed for our dog, comfort without pretension and worn in...

We booked three days over Christmas and it was bliss. We arrived on Christmas Eve and just melded into the whole atmosphere with ease. The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. Our room (4) was warm, and cosy and tastefully decorated. The ensuite shower was just high enough for me to stand under, i'm 6'5". One small issue, one plug...

Stayed for one night for our wedding anniversary. Have stayed in many boutique style hotels/coaching inns across the U.K. But this one was pretty average. Booked the suite expecting some special touches as it was £190 per night. Some good points; lovely linen, pretty shabby chic styling and pleasant toiletries. Unfortunately, the room was very chilly and even though we...

Booked a Christmas meal with friends and requested a particular table back at the beginning if October which was confirmed to me the week before we went. When we arrived the table was occupied and instead of apologising we were told the table had been booked ages ago and 'we were lucky to have a table!!' Food was OK but...

I booked a suite here for a short break but the following day got the flu and was unable to go. The landlady said they had a 48hr cancellation policy and I would be charged £180 for the room, in spite of being sick and having only booked less than 24 hours ago. What a horrid thing to do, they...

We've stayed at the Lion several times. We were disappointed this time by the lack of details which have always made our stay special and enjoyable. Room service has disappeared for complimentary tea & coffee - the sort of thing which makes being on a break just that - and is replaced by a cheap white plastic travel kettle and...

We ate in the restuarant and stayed overnight, an experiance not to be recommended or repeated. It could be a gem but only if someone takes on site responsibility and cares a bit more about the customer. The positives - the staff were friendly and tried. The negatives - over priced bar and restuarant, pokey room lacking in facilities, the...

I don't live too far from Winchcombe so have been to various pubs and restaurants in the town. However, this was my first visit to The Lion on North Street. It's absolutely lovely, one of those places that you walk into and immediately feel comfortable and valued as a customer. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. We were all...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lion Inn started life as a coaching inn in the 15th Century. Over the years it has gone through many changes and played an important role in the village and surrounding areas; providing food, drink and accommodation for both people and horses, in a variety of guises. Having fallen in love with the building, Annie Fox-Hamilton took over ownership of the Lion in October 2011 and spent six months on a major renovation of the building and grounds. We were determined not to lose any of the inn’s original quirky charm; we unearthed quite a lot more than we had anticipated such as Minnie Mouse – the vintage wall painting in Room 1 we couldn’t bear to lose. The Lion has a bar, snug, restaurant, garden (ideal for alfresco dining), 6 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a mini suite. All have extremely comfortable beds, their own individual character and ambiance. ... more   less
