Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great Sunday lunch as always , booked in advance , the place was full . Didn’t have to wait too long to be served ( we did get there at 12.15pm) and it started to fill up quickly. Both beef and pork was very tasty … lots of veg and roast spuds , gravy was great ….

On a long journey we decided to call into the town and hunt for Sunday lunch as a stop off. We were met with a warm welcome by the lovely staff. The food arrived to ‘serve your own’ with as much or as little as you wanted. Well cooked, high quality, good value, huge Yorkshire pud, and succulent beef. Highly recommend this fine hotel for its food and service.

Stayed one night here while walking the Cotswold Way. Although a little quirky we found it one of the best accommodations on our 10 night trek. The rooms were absolutely fine, clean and comfortable and the whole operation seemed to run very well, especially considering that the whole restaurant front of house and bar seemed to be being run by three very hard working and polite teenagers, who were doing an excellent job. Despite the restaurant being busy, dinner was served very quickly and although it was pub-style food it was perfectly acceptable quality for the price. Would recommend.

As first-time visitors to Wootton Under Edge, we stumbled over this hotel as we looked for lunch in a town that was mostly closed. Although they were fully booked, they offered a table in the bar and a good menu. The food and the service were excellent. The premises were spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.

Cheeky night away after a funeral wake at the same hotel. Lovely hotel, on entering the reception area let the place down but the dining area both for the wake and later for dinner was great and felt refurbished. Fabulous room, Super king bed, huge TV, bright and airy, lovely bathroom and shower. Room 9 felt fresh and new! Would stay again!

Dropped in for something to eat and were glad they served a smaller meal for senior citizens. We had a cottage pie (a small one but a fair size) and a dessert for a very good price. Comfortable restaurant as well. To be recommended.

We came for food. As a person who cannot eat much due to a surgical operation the staff allowed me to order the children's portion of beef Sunday dinner while my family member ordered the adult size chicken dinner.. the amount of food was extremely large for the price. The duo of beef included slow cooked brisket which came apart so easy and was excellent, the topside was cooked to perfection melt in the mouth... I will definitely be coming back for it again next time I'm in the area, the chicken was a full breast and a half, wrapped in bacon with stuffing and was moist while being completely cooked through. The stuffing was moist and flavour full. The sides included cauliflower cheese, carrots, green beans, broccoli, spring cabbage, suede, parsnips and roast potatoes plus a large amount of gravy and a Yorkshire pudding each.. the amount of food was large and I dread to imagine what it would have been with two adult size portions! The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

We stayed here for one night while hiking the Cotswolds Way, and we had a really nice stay. We were greeted by friendly staff and had the suitcases delivered to the room. This hotel is really old and crooked but absolulety charming. It is very clean, and our room was really nice with a quirky bathroom. The beds could use a mattress topper though. The breakfast was okay - especially the porridge

This is the best pub in the area, nice atmosphere and really nice inside. we had food and it was top quality! The only thing i would say is it would have been nice for if it had a few more local ciders and ales from around the area to fit in with the rustic feel of the pub. otherwise it’s perfect.
