Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights in a twin room. Plenty of space for two people and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is a short, level walk to Portsmouth Guildhall and the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf Quay are even closer. The breakfast was well cooked and there was plenty of choice.

Nice hotel. Big room and bathroom (classic double) to the side of the hotel. It was quiet overnight and a comfortable bed lead to a good night's sleep. Parking is a bit tight but the front desk staff helped us get one at the front of the hotel The cooked breakfast was nice. And you can ask dor porridge. The continental breakfast was mainly cereals but there was also fresh fruit salads . The pool is a plunge pool but it was lovely and warm. One thing I will say is that the staff were all REALLY helpful and welcoming, from front desk to breakfast.

Really interesting hotel with good facilities. We had a family room which was a little dated and tatty in places, but very clean with good housekeeping each day. Rooms were a little on the warm side even in February. It was nice and quiet during the night. Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfasts had a good choice of cold and hot food. We dined in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was good and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed using the small heated pool which has good changing rooms. Free parking is limited but we found a space each day without any issues. The location is really good for the Mary Rose and Dock museums, being only a short walk. It was only a 10 minute walk to Gunwharf Quays for the shops and restaurants. If you want something a bit more interesting than a chain hotel I would highly recommend.

Great location for historic dockyard. We went to see Mary Rose which was brilliant. The hotel doesn’t look great from the outside but interior is very good. The room was large clean and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent. We managed to park right outside and didn’t move it until we left. Half of NATO seemed to be staying while we were there!

We enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, we were upgraded to a refurbished double. We ate in the restaurant, which in an off season had a good menu. Inexpensive. It has a small heated pool. It’s well centred for ferries and historic dockyard

This hotel is lovely and in a great location. We stayed for the weekend whilst attending an event. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Historic Dockyard and an 8 minute walk from Gunwharf Keys shopping centre. Lots of restaurants nearby but the hotel has a lovely bar which does a range of food. Our room was really nice, newly refurbished and had everything we needed. The whole atmosphere of the hotel was nice too. Staff really friendly and a great breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

Had a Christmas meal and entertainment afterwards. The food was below average. Stale bread, prawn literally looked like they were thrown on the plate. Had to ask for gravy. Yorkshire puddings rock hard. The service was good the young staff worked hard. £29 for 3 course meal rip off! It's not hard to cook a roast dinner and get fresh bread. It was ashame. The entertainment was based round the younger guests with music they would like. Had very high hopes for the evening, unfortunately disappointing

3rd stay at The Maritime. Its a lovely warm welcoming place, with polite, sociable, helpful staff. Our room had been changed to a family suite, just the two of us, nice space, sleeps 5, with a decent bathroom, but overlooked the service area of the hotel, which was fine, as we were out and about. Breakfast is a buffet style with hot food, cereal etc, and doesnt disappoint. Nice quality and flavour to the sausages and bacon. Staff are polite, helpful and work hard to keep everything full. Staff lead you to the table, turnover is pretty quick, but if you turn up at 9am on a Sunday after a Christmas party, it's going to be busy, and you may have to wait a few minutes until a table is available, don't give them grief about it like someone did this morning. If you don't want to wait, go at 7.30. No problems with this hotel, would def stay there again!!

Brilliant hotel within easy walk of Gunwarf Quays and the Historic Dockyard. Room was fabulous and bed so comfy. Managed to get a car parking space there which was excellent. All the staff are lovely and extremely helpful. We had a meal there on first night and the belly pork was the biggest I ever had and all meals were excellent.
