This hotel had only just reopened when we visited in August. There is the attraction of a free car park, the gates to which are locked at night. The hotel is right on the hard overlooking HMS Warrior, though our room didn’t have sea view. It’s also perfectly located for visiting the Gunwharf development. Our room was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was narrow but benefitted from a rain shower, and there were big fluffy towels. There was a refreshment tray and plenty of power sockets. The flat screen tv was at a bit of a strange angle though to be watched in comfort. Worth bearing in mind that room doors do not lock unless you do so with your key. Breakfast was well cooked without being exceptional. The staff really were most pleasant and friendly to chat with. I’m not sure this hotel qualifies for the epitaph boutique, however it’s a good base to visit the attractions of Pompey from and does have more character than the usual chains.

Booked a one night stay for the Friday night at Victorious festival as our usual hotel was already fully booked when we bought our tickets for this year and we’re glad that we ended up at the Ship Leopard.

Lovely Grade 2 listed Georgian hotel in a really great location near to Gunwharf Quays and the Historic Dockyard. The main entrance to Victorious was about a half hour walk away.

Our Compact King En-suite Room (Rear/Side view) (inc.Breakfast) was very stylish and modern and had a double size walk in shower, mid sized TV, tea/coffee and critically a small electric fan as it was quite warm in August and the windows don’t open very much. Although labelled as a compact room it was a decent size for a couple and I’ve stayed in much smaller double rooms at other hotels. Our room could do with a lick of paint and some TLC but otherwise no major issues. There’s a lift in the main lobby which is accessed using a small key fob attached to your room key.

Breakfast was excellent and a choice of Continental or full English with pastries, fresh juice etc.

Service was great and all of the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The car park is located at the rear of the hotel and offers approximately 12 free marked parking spaces on a first come, first served basis. You could probably squeeze in a few more cars at a push and some clever manoeuvring.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Ship Leopard and will certainly stay again if there are any rooms available on our next visit to Southsea. It’s great to see the hotel is once again prosperous after the dreadful impact of Covid-19. Highly recommended!

We have visited 'boutique' hotels in the past in various parts over Europe. Usually boutique means more luxurious and specialised but not in this case. The best description for this 'hotel' is a hybrid of a bed and breakfast and a small hotel with cheap furniture and fittings. The drawers in the bedroom would fall out if you put anything in them and pulled the drawer out. The cleaning was generally good but a little attention to detail is required. The initial impression therefore wasn't the best but that's where the negatives end.

The staff here are fantastic and can't do enough for you. I liked the little things like the voice in the lift was a locals voice. I like the fact that they only had a limited choice for cooked breakfast which meant that the food was excellent because they didn't overstretch themselves as this really is a small place. This place was 'homely'. When we go back to Portsmouth I would definitely go back here. I would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Stayed here for one night room was nice and spotlessly clean bed comfortable pillows were a little hard but that could be because I like a soft pillow. Tea/ coffee and biscuits in room. Parking just behind hotel. The two gentlemen that run the hotel so friendly and polite and always on hand to help with anything. But the icing on the cake was the breakfast, very very good cooked fresh when ordered. Thank you for a lovely stay

At the time of writing this review, the Ship Leopard was 22nd best place to stay in Portsmouth. I can only summise that all the accomodation in Portsmouth above 22nd place must be outstanding!!

On arrival into Portsmouth which was late morning, I attempted to check in early and make use of the site Car Park and the chap said it was fine to do so and if I wanted to leave my luggage in the back room he would upgrade my room to one with a front view at no extra charge due to a cancellation. Great!! Late afternoon I returned to the hotel only to find my luggage was missing! After running the consierge ragged for half an hour I found it was in my room after all!! Thank God for Covid masks to hide my red face!! He was mightily relieved and we both had a laugh about it at my expense!
But seriously, this hotel is top notch. From the sizeable room and excellent shower, comfortable bed, great and welcoming staff, tasty breakfast and the amazing decor and surroundings, not to mention it's unbelievable location being next door almost to Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower and the Historic Dockyard, I really cannot fault this place.
My only disappointment is that my Wife and I were only here for one night.

After a very bad experience at a nearby chain, especially for a lone woman traveler, this hotel was recommended to me and I must say I was most impressed. The room was decorated to a high standard, clean and had every amenity that a traveler could require. All in all a very good hotel by only minor complaint was related to the breakfast, bacon was slightly overcooked and the sausage was of a poor quality,
Other than that I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Stayed for two nights, perfect location near Dockyard and Gun Wharf. Staff very helpful, breakfast great service and very tasty. Think hotel is overpriced slightly, could do with some TLC in bedrooms, fairer price would we feel be around £95 per night.

This small hotel is located on the waterfront and just steps away from the train and bus stations. The decor is quirky but fun. The only meal offered is breakfast which was adequate but not special.

Our accommodation consisted of two rooms and bath. The bedroom area was small but had lots of storage. The bed was purported to be a king but it was a queen at most. The mattress was comfortable. The "living" room was a long rectangular shaped space which did not lend itself to good furniture arrangement. There was a rather worn sofa on one of the long walls, which provided the only seating in the unit. The TV was mounted on the opposite long wall which precluded watching TV while in bed. Immediately inside the entrance door was a low square table holding coffee making equipment. Its position was strange and inconvenient. After walking around the table and under the TV you reached a space not utilized except for a decorative pot and the entrance to the bathroom. The bathroom was quite modern but lacked convenient surfaces to hold toiletries, razors, etc. It did have a bidet. The shower did not have any surface on which you could rest your soap or shampoo which was very inconvenient.

The location, while great for sightseeing, is quite noisy even at night. Lots of buses, trucks, and other vehicles as well as tourists.

No air conditioning. A window did open a small amount letting in some cooler night air but also letting in more noise.

Situated opposite the train station and bus station and inbetween the Historical Dockyard and Gun Wharf, it could not be in a btter place. It has plenty of parking for guests free of charge and is only a 5 minute walk to the shops or the dockyard. Beautifully decorated with a classy boutique feel. Small bar/dinning area but plenty of room. I had booked a compact single room and was delighted and surprised to have been upgraded to a bigger room with a double bed. The room was comfortable and well presented with a TV and coffee making facilities, lots of milk pods and buscuits. The bathroom had a really big shower with the usual toiletries. There was also an iron and hair dryer provided. My only negative was that the it could have been cleaner, the bathroom inparticular. Dust around the edges and under the sink basin and marks on the wall. Other than that it was fine.

a two night stay costing £270 rooms small. Doors do not lock automatically you have to lock using a key. Your not told this so be careful when leaving your room. No bath. Bathroom tiny. You sit on the toilet and i have the sink on my legs. Carpets tired and not clean. Pillows very old and flat. No fridge in room. No sleep had. Breakfast was o.k. but sausages are catering sausages and very poor quality. I have stayed in hotels half this price and several times better. I would not recommend this place to any family or friends.
