Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Overall, great experience. Amazing staff and room was comfortable. The only reason of the 3 stars is that when u are booked, you have to pay for the parking, whereas for next day they told us we have complimentary parking for 24 hours. It does not make sense. Should be complimentary when you are booked and then charged if you need to leave the car out of your booking. Parking should be free for guests

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay and hope that we will have the occasion to welcome you back again soon. To clarify on the parking confusion, our data entry for parking allows entries for 24 hours. We are happy to top up our guests parking on the day of departure for free if they aren't ready to leave the city and so add on an extra permit but do not charge for it. I would have to assume my colleague assured you you could have all the extra time to reassure you that you didn't need to rush to a set time. Thank you for your feedback on parking rates though, this will be taken under advisement during our annual review of services. On behalf of the team, we sincerely appreciate your positive feedback and look forward to hosting you for another pleasant experience soon. Kind regards, Adam, Guest Relations

We checked in at the Ibis, the reception was well decorated and stylish with a bar with a comfortable lounge seating area where food and snacks could be purchased and eaten there or taken to your room. The staff were very helpful and gave us the key to our room. Security is brilliant. The key was needed to operate the lift to the correct floor for the room, open the door and slotted into a switch which operated the light. The room was small but spotless with everything you could possibly need such as kettle, tea and coffee etc. en-suite, tv, hanging space etc. We had a very comfortable nights rest.

Highly recommend this hotel. Stayed here for trip to Gunwharf Quays & harbour. Great location, friendly staff and room perfect for the money. Booked 6 weeks ahead and paid 1/3 of the rate on the day. Really nice foyer/ bar. Will definitely use Ibis again.

Staff on check in were polite, helpful and professional. Did not use the bar or eat food in the evening. Good overnight stay - rooms basic but clean. Heating was too high for us but able to sleep with no issues. Breakfast was good and there were plenty of options. Would stay again if in the area for the price we paid.

This is a very nice, well-run Ibis in the city-centre, only a short 15-minute walk from the historic Dockyard. The hotel is very place, with a very nice open lobby and bar area. The room was quite spacious for this price-range and very comfortable. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. A good place to stay.

Amazing hotel experience. It was my first time staying in an Ibis hotel and I was so impressed. The staff are very friendly, even the bar staff were fantastic. It was very clean and tidy. The fish tank in the hotel lobby really was beautiful. It was nice to see a pool table in the lobby too. Our room was very nice, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and greatly presented. I would 100% use an Ibis hotel again!

Another excellent stay, good rooms, excellent shower, good linen and towels, very comfortable bed. warm friendly welcome, very helpful staff, especially, Assam, Sarah as were all staff we didn't get to know their names, Nothing too much trouble, prepared to go the "extra mile. Very good breakfast excellent value for money, cooked, continental cheese/meats/yoghurts fruit, lots of different cereals and pastries/jams etc. Great reception area, calm ambience, comfortable seating for just staying in with a bottle of wine. Very convenient for getting around Portsmouth and have never failed to get a parking slot.

This is the fourth year in a row My Partner and I have stayed at the Ibis central at Winston Churchill Avenue in Portsmouth. It’s advisable to pre-book earliest possible to get the best prices and also to include extras such as breakfast and car parking, but bear in mind that is on a first serve Subject to availability service they cannot guarantee a parking space it’s turn up if there’s a parking space there you can park and pay to Park , which is £10 per day. Check out time for the car park is midday, but if you need an extension to 5 pm that can be done at no extra charge around the Christmas period time like now, no problems with parking in the busier periods of time yes the hotel is very clean and presentable. The staff are very friendly. There’s one minor change to last year which is a good upgrade. They have made it more secure which means after 11 pm at night you need your room key to open the main entrance to the hotel and you also all day long need your room key to access the stairs or the lift up to your room, but you don’t need your key on the way down. , breakfast is served from 6:30 am until 11 am. They offer a Continental style breakfast plus a buffet style full of English last year. If you paid directly if you hadn’t pre-booked breakfast it was £15 per person which includes hot drinks and all the food you can eat they cater for food allergies, but it’s always worth letting them know in advance so they’ve got the stock in for you. , if you join their reward club, not only do accumulate points for free stays, but you also get offered better rates when you book and if you book like we do for the weekend complete you get offers like free breakfast we were given this year that was for My Partner and I, as we had a double booking so that saved us £60 and there’s no charge to join the loyalty scheme. All you agreed to is them. Sending you email, merchandise and publicity. The rooms are clean and presentable. If you don’t want road noise ask for a room at the back facing the car park.

Really not a 3 star. Twin room like a cabin on a boat. So small and the smallest bathroom ever. Good location for Guildhall. Twin beds are literally camp beds with mattress toppers on them uncomfortable is an understatement. No atmosphere in bar restaurant so didn’t use it. If you want a one night budget location maybe give it a go .
