Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked through central reservations miss informed no spa facilities as stated.parking not free.Deluxe room disappointing, nowhere to dry towels, broken ironing board, lighting poor couldn’t see to do makeup or hair apart from bathroom. Food poor quality and over priced. Jay on front desk was very apologetic gave us parking for free ,also complimentary breakfasts, good customer service but food not good quality had to order and wait for eggs came later. Overall very disappointing stay will not stay again.Could have had cheaper and better at premier next door.Standards have slipped from before, very sad

Visiting friends we decided to stay here. A very friendly welcome and extremely painless check in and out. Nice clean room and a very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast in the morning. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We slept really well in the lovely comfy bed. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

From the moment we arrived until our departure, every aspect of our stay was delightful. The ambiance of the hotel is welcoming and elegant, striking a perfect balance between luxury and comfort. What stood out the most, however, was the exceptional service provided by the staff. Every member of the team was genuinely friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. Five stars.

The hotel staff was very kind and friendly. The breakfast was average, same as everywhere else in the UK. But the room .. oh my days. Whoever designed that place must have been out of their mind. A lot of rooms in that hotel are overlooking a huge atrium with a restaurant, meaning you will spend your time here in a massive box with no view of outside World and with zero air circulation. If you have a fragile sleep, this place is going to be your nightmare. The room was constantly hot and the half working A/C was useless. I will never book this place again as it is a guaranteed sleep deprivation.

We visited family staying in the hotel. We had lunch and the lady serving us and the chef were both incredibly helpful. Fantastic friendly service. My son dropped his ice cream sundae on the floor, the lady quickly cleared it away, gave him another sundae and the chef came out to reassure him that it didn't matter. She even gave us some doughnuts to make him feel better. Very much appreciated.

I have stayed in marriot hotels for over 30 years and the Portsmouth marriot for over 10 Stayed there this week ordered dinner trainee waitress. Ordered two steaks sides sautéed vegetables and onion rings. Supervisor came to check and asked if the Vegetables and onion rings were to share I said yes. When the meal arrived only one came because they thought we were sharing it. After we had eaten we were told that even though we had validated my debit card they wanted us to pay for the meal and any future drinks up front I told them I would pay in the morning and after a bit of a discussion with who I assume to be the supervisor walked off Most hotels give you credit some ask for a small retainer but this was different the situation was made worse becouse we should have stayed there the previous night and had payed £175 for the room as our sailing was delayed we tried to alter our booking but we couldn’t and had to book anew

£38 for two basic English breakfasts is steep for serve yourself luke warm buffett. No security, letting drunk people roam the halls banging on doors at 3am including ours which was on the 2nd floor. Check in took 32 mins because of only one member of staff dealing with only a small group of 3 in front and then no apology. Rude waitress in the restaurant moaning about the fact we hadn’t booked breakfast. £4 for parking when you are a resident who has already paid for hotel and breakfast is crazy outside of London! Being woken up at 6am by staff shoving a letter under the door saying we hadn’t put a credit card behind reception when we’d paid in advance for everything and they knew that on check in (Made worse by the fact it woke our 7 month old up as well). Nice hotel thoroughly spoilt by the service or lack of.

The room was very dark no outside window , the window in the room overlooked the restaurant which meant we had to keep the curtains closed all the time , I didn’t find the bed very comfortable, I found the Mattress a little hard , 2 of the bottles in the shower were empty, breakfast was very basic no fried eggs or poached just scrambled or hard boiled , sausages were poor quality , on the positive side the room was very large , shower was very powerful, staff were very polite and helpful

A good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. Clean and comfortable rooms. But it’s a shame that this hotel feels more like a private hospital than a hotel. Some slight changes could really make a big difference. The hotel ground floor should feel cosy, comfortable and welcoming when you walk through those front doors. When you exit the carpark your passing bins, back doors of the hotel and it looks scruffy. The bar and restaurant was not inviting either it looked like it was closed all the time and very few people sat in there. Again needs to feel cosy and welcoming in those areas too.
