I was here one Saturday night for an event in the function room. The room was tidy and the bed mattress fairly soft, pillows soft and simple quilt. No additional covers. The furnishing and carpet were definitely worn and could do with a refurb soon. The bath tap dripped all the time, fortunately did not keep me awake, and the sink tap unit was loose. So again a bit of a refurb required. Although my room was close to the function room was not kept awake by other guests.
With regard to the breakfast there was everything you could want for a continental breakfast and if you wanted full english was provided at an added cost and was cooked to order and served hot.
All in all a good stay for one night and would probably do same again. Not sure would stay for longer though.

The title says it all, for £60 per room B&B, free parking and easily accessible from the M27 and close to Southsea. The staff are friendly and will top up supplies of tea and coffee available in the room, which was clean and the bed comfortable. Yes, there are lots of children about but of course families will come here at these prices. The meal deals in the restaurant are amazing for Kids and adults. Our choice to go out both nights. We didnt come for fine dining or cosseting. A good value budget package.

. We wanted to visit Portsmouth so our family of six booked three rooms last Thursday 29th July 21. Upon arriving at the reception a young lady greeted us all with a smile and asked how the journey from kent had been. At no time she did check us in. She also gave us 20% off vouchers for dinner It was 3 pm and she explained to us due to staff sickness they are a bit late and our rooms were being prepared at present. We did not mind that and were happy to sit in the lobby. She has kindly offered us a complimentary tea/coffee b which we politely declined. it was a good gesture for guests who were a little inconvenienced. Unfortunately, she was not wearing a name badge so I can't tell who she was

The rooms were basic but they had everything a guest needs, a kettle, tv tea/coffee/h ir dryer, nicely folded towels, a tube of shower gel, etc. The rooms were immaculately clean. The rooms have no AC
But there are plenty of table fans at the reception for you.
The Breakfast was superb. There was plenty of food. They were rushed off feet guests were asking too many cooked brekkies but they did that with a smile. Whenever a fruit juice, bread or milk running out the staff member was quick to fill them up. We had a super Veggie breakfast with sausages, beans, hash brown egg, etc. Never seen such a courteous and hard-working breakfast crew at any other hotel. Unfortunately, they had forgotten to wear name badges so I cannot name anybody especially.
The highlight of our stay there was chatting to the two cleaning ladies who came to see why our shower was not working. They fixed it in minutes. They were very chatty and friendly. Hearing that we came for a day from Kent, they have explained to us al the attractions in Portsmouth and even gave directions on how to get to the sea.
This is not a Holiday Inn but the hotel has everything a tired traveler needs. It is extremely family-friendly. The price is very reasonable. From the receptionist, the cleaning lady all are very friendly people.
Next time you are visiting the Portsmouth area try this wonderful place yourself

I would not usually award the 5 stars unless a place is absolutely top notch with all the luxuries and amenities that usually go with it,but on this occasion and bearing in mind the difficulties that Covid has thrust upon us this place must be worth the 5 stars for their effort alone in coping with what must be terribly difficult times for the hospitality industry, they really have got their act together here and could certainly show a few other establishments i have visited recently how things should and must be done.
Apart from the above praise i must also point out its many other good points and also a negative or two.
On arrival we found ample parking spaces in the area reserved for hotel guests and were efficiently checked in,our room was on the 1st floor and overlooked the car park, nothing fancy about the room and could certainly do with a spruce up,but that said all the required facilities were well provided and the room was spotlessly clean, full marks for the excellent power shower, although not a fan of shower curtains.
The hotel itself is adjoined to the restaurant and bars via a couple of corridors so they have no impact on the rooms noise wise, there are plenty of tables for dining and a separate bar showing sport etc. and a decent outside area.
To dine here we had to pre-book due to the current situation but had no difficulty in getting a table for the times we wanted on both nights, the food was very good and very reasonably priced,we especially enjoyed the Steak Sizzler dish and also the Cheesecake, very decent sized portions on both occasions we dined here.
Breakfast was served between 7-9 and consisted of the usual options,we opted for the Full English on both mornings and were well enough satisfied, although the portions could do with being increased a wee bit.
My biggest thank you must go to ALL of the staff members who at all times were helpful courteous and very friendly,it really must be difficult for them during these testing times and they really were a credit to this establishment.
We will most certainly return here in future.

The building is in serious need of maintenance, thorough cleaning and decoration.

The electrical fitting for the heated towel rail in our bathroom was cracked and broken, exposing live wires.

This was a Fire Hazard, it was situated immediately below dry towels and a Safety Hazard, it could be touched by wet hands in the bathroom.

Part of the toilet seat fitting was missing, exposing unhygienic filth underneath.

The shower was difficult to operate.

Bathroom grouting was grubby and poorly done and the bedroom carpet was dirty and stained.

Shower curtain and bath taps were dirty and there was no toilet cleaning brush.

A tiny (30 ml) bottle of body wash was the only complimentary guest toiletries supplied. How mean !

There were insufficient signs for the routes to the bedrooms and linked restaurant (Hungry Horse).

Breakfast was awful.

We chose the ‘Classic Continental’ style.

The breakfast menu advertised ‘a fantastic choice of Twinings tea’ but we were not offered a choice, and a very limited choice of cereals.

Although ‘fresh fruit bowl’ (apples, oranges and bananas) was advertised as part of the breakfast, none was available.

Our toast came without a knife to spread the butter and jam. I had to go and get a couple myself.

And, by the way, “we don’t have any marmalade” !

Milk for our tea came in a small glass; awkward to pour.

Our choice from ‘a selection of yoghurts’ - (fruit yoghurt was requested) came as natural flavoured.

We had to pay by card as “we don’t have any change”.

our daughter treated us to a 30 th wedding anniversary present of Afternoon Tea at The Spinnaker and then a stay at the farmhouse. After the amazing experience of afternoon tea t the spinnaker we were looking forward to a lovely stay at the Farmhouse.

Our room was so run down, huge stains on the carpet, smelled of cigarette smoke, only one cheap tube of soap, signs peeling off the wall, poor tv reception, wifi unable to use and the list could go on.

Got up looking forward to a rare treat of a cooked breakfast. We waited 45 minutes for a yoghurt, orange juice and coffee but did enjoy the cooked breakfast when it came.

while we waited we could hear staff shouting at each other in the kitchen. Not the romantic break we envisaged !!

Genuinely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I fully understand that this is a budget hotel, however, for £70 a night I would expect better, at least something a little more inhabitable.

I booked fairly last minute, so options for budget hotels on the outskirts of Portsmouth were limited. I stayed a total of four nights whilst attending a training course nearby. I’ll start with the positives, good location and access to the motorway, good free parking, and the staff were pleasant.

From here it goes downhill, the room was very tired, dated, and the general upkeep very poor. The bathroom was much the same as described about the room, with the addition of black mould on the ceiling. I don’t think the extractor fan was working particularly well in the bathroom, possibly because the filter was fully blocked by dust, which I suspect to be the cause of the mould and general overpowering smell of damp in the whole room.

The wall mounted electric radiator was in a terrible state, however not to worry, an additional free standing/plug in one was in the room. In fairness, I found the bed reasonably comfortable. Pillows very poor quality. The room was “cleaned” daily, by that I mean the bed was made up, bin emptied, and towels replaced. I don’t blame the cleaner, the issues are more deeply routed than the quality of cleaning, there’s only so much you can do.

The public areas, corridors, restaurant, etc. again all very tired and dated. Whilst I was staying, there was a significant delivery of new TVs which were being installed in the rooms. The TVs that were being removed, in my opinion were acceptable, and I think the money could have been spent better elsewhere if they are trying to improve the hotel.

The breakfast was okay and the staff serving very friendly. Be careful where you sit in the breakfast restaurant, some of chairs are disgusting and need thrown out.

I could go on, but I won’t. I have attached some pictures of the state of the room and particularly the bathroom. I’m generally not hard to please and don’t like complaining but this place just really annoyed me. With a Premier Inn or a Travelodge, you know what you’re getting and it’s budget to a good standard, this on the other hand was just unacceptable. I certainly would not return.

Where to start, fantastic happy Kind and helpfull staff across to board, from bar staff to reception all a credit to Hungry Horse and Greene King.
Room cleaned and sanitizing to a high standard, they really got their act together to make you feel safe and valued.
Had a 5 night stay and feel so relaxed and rested.
Loads to do in the area and places to visit, Chichester and Cathedral, Arundel Castle as well as more local venues such as the South Pier for fishing and all along the sea front has an amazing view to the Isle of Wight.
Museam, great pool for swimming, and cafes along the way to the fair ground and amusements pubs and restaurants and gift shops.
Ample parking all around.
A must to visit HMS Victory and visit the Portsmouth shopping area.
Wow, only used to come down for a day but so glad had the time to really get around and really see what here and what's on offer.
Again great friendly place to stay..... So what are you waiting for.

I was meant to stay in Room 209 on 11/01/2022 at the Farmhouse & Innlodge in Portsmouth. If I could it would be ZERO STARS for the room, however, staff were helpful with giving me a refund for the room. I was there no more than 20 minutes, from checking in to leaving the hotel. On walking to my room, the carpets were very stained and that worried me. I entered the room and it was ridiculously hot and made me uncomfortable to begin with. The lock on the back of the door had duct tape on and I could not further lock it from inside, which, if I had stayed would have worried me. As I always do, I checked the room out before settling in. The entire carpets were stained, stains that have clearly been there a long time and they not only made the room look awful but also very unhygienic, they should really be changed with the amount of stains on them. On the side of the bed(not the mattress) there were stains, which I don’t really want to imagine what happened there. Within the bed and on the pillows were hairs, and on the sheet in the bed looked to be black mould. On the lamp fixed to the wall closest to the window, it seemed to have blood marks/finger prints on. I then went to the bathroom, the shower head was disgusting, there were multiple black hairs in the bath, hairs on the wall where the towels were and another on the toilet seat. The chairs in the room were also very stained. It made me feel disgusting for the entire time I was there even though it was short. On the mirror it said it has been cleaned even more due to COVID, but clearly that’s not the case because it was vile, I have never been so disgusted with a room. Not only was there that sign on the mirror, on your website it states that there is a “clean bedrooms promise,” again it’s clearly not the case.
I was not only disgusted but very upset and distressed after this, because not only did I feel dirty I then had to find another hotel in Portsmouth to put me up for the night which stressed me out because I wasn’t sure if I would get one. I did not think I would be put in that position and that also made me uncomfortable because the location was not ideal and I hadn’t had enough time to research the hotel to make sure I would feel safe and comfortable(I stayed at a Travelodge), as normally before a trip I look into where I stay. I am utterly disgusted by my whole brief encounter with the room, and I hope you can understand why
