Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. I asked to be moved to another room but was told no other rooms available. Member of staff was kind and understanding and acknowledged this smell, and she offered to spray over it. However only after 30min the smell resurfaced. This made it hard to get a good night's rest. Nevermind the constant fighting that took place next door around midnight to am.

This hotel is in the perfect location for central Portsmouth. We experienced friendly helpful staff a great breakfast - with good coffee and a sound nights sleep. We didn’t drive so can’t comment on parking. Only complaint is the small towels. We’d go back.

Beds are comfortable, we had a great 2 days in Portsmouth a night at the Guildford and a day visiting the historical docks which was a humbling feeling of how people worked so hard bk in time and lost lives on these amazingly built ships, the staff at this Premier inn are your best asset so friendly and so helpful, thanks guys

Tesco and Costa Coffee next door so very convenient. I was taking part in The Big Weekender event with two half marathons a day apart so it was helpful to have everything we needed close to hand. The room was a good size, we had a limited view of the trains but my son enjoyed watching. We were able to book at a really good rate and were very grateful as such a good hotel would normally be beyond reach for three nights. The races were great, one on Hayling Island and the other along the Portsmouth coast. We will definitely try to book here again for future races. Check in was fast and the gentleman very helpful. We didn’t see other staff during our stay but there were no problems. Everything was great.

The bedrooms - fab. The service - fab. The breakfast - yuck! If you want breakfast, better be at 7am when it opens, because every minute passes, the food feels it. You wouldn’t order food at a restaurant and eat it hours after it’s put out. So why do they think you will? The bread was half soggy, half hard. The same for the crumpets and pancakes - ALL inedible. Pastries were hard and cold but taste ok. Hot food was kept Luke-warm. Really the leftovers like when you pick at holiday scraps a day later. Recommend the bedrooms and hotel. Just don’t order breakfast!!

We had a great stay. The room was clean and comfy. But what made the stay so special was the warmth and friendliness of the lady at reception who really did go above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Sadly, I didn’t even think to read her name badge. But she was there from when we checked in at 3pm on 21st December- when we checked out the next day. She is truly an asset to Premier Inn.
