Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It seems that when this hotel changed hands, it did not remain a full-service hotel. It is a crumbling building functioning more like and AirBNB type of operation. There is no reception. No staff. They are not on any of the communication apps so if you do not have a UK phone, you're in trouble if you need access!! We had to stop a passer-by to use her phone which is inappropriate for a business. There is NO breakfast or bar. The yard is a shambles and gives the impression that the place is almost abandoned. The room itself was really dated. No WIFI - or at least we had no way to get a WIFI password and did not see a WIFI available in our phones. The beds were comfortable enough but there were only two towels for our three guests. The bathroom was dated but functional. Everything seemed clean enough but this is not the hotel you think you're booking.

This hotel has changed hands since we went there pre covid. In my opinion it is no longer fit for purpose. No reception , no restuarant, no breakfast , no staff. We were told that the change of ownership is reflected in the cheap price. I don't think that £133 is cheap.

The description and pictures are quite deceptive. There is no restaurant (no breakfast option as shown), no bar (as shown), no cute little backyard under the lights you can access (as shown). The room looked fine but not nearly as nice as the pictures. The bathroom was functional but dated and in mild disrepair. There is no reception desk or even a common room for sitting tables (there was not desk or table in our room). I could also write a dozen minor inconveniences about the place and our stay, but I truly don’t enjoy nitpicking and writing bad reviews. I felt I was deceived and that’s not a good feeling to have when you’re vacationing. I have relied on #tripadvisor for much of my travel planning for over a decade but after having this experience a few times I don’t think I’ll be using the site anymore. There is no way this is the #3 place to stay in Southampton. On the positive side, it’s clean, quiet and inexpensive.

I booked this hotel for a 3 night stay through Booking.com. I got several confirmation emails and had no idea that the hotel wasn't even open. We tried to contact the hotel but the message just says they will get back to you. It is shocking that this hotel is still being advertised as being open. It looked as if it had been closed for months. There were weeds all over the ground and cobwebs on the door. Stay away

Appreciate that with Covid-19 hospitality is in chaos. BUT.....We have the hotel booked for September and have been trying to contact them since beginning of July to discuss options following cancellation of our cruise. We were happy to come and have a night away if they were open but absolutely no response to several enquiries Disappointed that we will now have to resort to credit card company as absolutely no response to emails, phone messages, Facebook and messenger. This does not inspire any confidence in the brand.

We booked -our cruise was cancelled. We tried to speak to property to switch our booking and ultimately to check if they are open if we did go down . They ignored numerous attempts by ourselves and Booking.com to contact them Don’t book here if you have a problem the property does not answer the phone emails or contact through booking .com Not good service ...........

We booked this hotel for a wedding that was supposed to take place on May 30th, 2020. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to get to the UK because travel between the countries is completely shut down. The hotel continues to refuse to give us our money back, or even provide us with a credit to use at a future date. They have told us we are completely out of the $650 we spent on the booking. Absolutely disgusting in this time where people are dying and losing their jobs. We both lost our jobs and desperately need the money. The only response we got back from the hotel was a VERY rude email from Matthew (who refused to give last name), who did offer to remove our booking without a refund, so they could fill our room and collect a double income on the room. I am writing this review to ensure that no one makes the same mistake that we did. DO NOT book this hotel, as if you have any kind of emergency, or even a Pandemic that is affecting everyone in the world, they will do nothing for you.

We stayed here for 2 nighta whilst visiting family in the area. Booked directly which was very easy and we got the best deal and the breakfast was included free of charge. We booked a Deluxe Super KIng room - really comfortable bed - great size room and yes the water pressure for the shower is fab AND free parking. We ate at the hotel both evenings and there is a good choice on the menu, food as really tasty and well cooked, well priced and the owners son si the chef. Breakfast was really good too - pastries, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit and great choice of cooked options. So much better than staying in a generic hotel - ( Premier Inn, Travel Lodge etc) as we felt we were really looked after by Joe from Portugal on our first evening and last breakfast the son of the owners - ( sorry we can't remember your name!) on the second. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The reception itself was ok! However the aftermath was something to be desired’ some MINOR issues with bride and grooms room! Which another guest was responsible for yet took no responsibility for’ wouldn’t speak to the guests and let a minor drink from the mini bar’ blocked the fire exit and have yet sent the bill them as requested! Terrible customer service! Lovely when taking thousands of pounds buy when issies were trying to be rectified didn’t want to know! Beware of this hotel
