Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredibly good food and at a terrific price. The 'Deli Dinner' of South Coast baked cod with capers, butter beans and a tomato sauce was one of the best dishes I have ever had. Casual surroundings matched the wonderful service from the regular staff and Dylan the trainee. I cannot wait to go back. Small but perfect menu.

The entire experience, from the homely check in, the professional yet friendly staff, to the room and food, we had one of the best stays of our lives! A massive thank you to the management on site at the hotel, the room was spotless and service together with kitchen and staff flawless. We also were impressed with how unique the stay felt although the hotel has obviously kept to the general theme of pig hotels having had the pleasure to stay at other pigs.

Called but couldn’t get through so stuck my head in as we were passing. Friendly lady gladly found us a table and we had a very enjoyable lunch. Relaxed vibe, spot on service and the sausage roll was to die for! Free water station available and I can imagine in the summer the terrace out the front would be great to watch the world go by.

We LOVE a Pig. The first time we have stayed in Southampton. We arrived late and weary, were greeted with the most friendly smiles and accommodation. We had a wonderful, light supper with a choose of moving tables. We slept on a mattress of air under covers of delight. We left super early to a box of croissants and ham and a cheery send off. As ever, you are wonderful. Thank you.

Very nice. We went for a spot of lunch. The menu was quite limited, but very tasty. The food is locally sourced and seasonal, so there were lots of vegetable and pork based dishes when we visited in December. We chose a starter and main course, but noticed that some diners were just picking a few grazing dishes instead of a traditional meal. The meals were lovely and filling - no room for a desert. Wine prices ranged from £24? - £65 for a bottle of red. Most were around the £25-£40 mark which is quite reasonable these days. Lovely atmosphere and cosy surroundings. I’m sure we will be back.

Overall a pretty underwhelming experience. Room was small but very well appointed and comfortable so no complaints. The staff were hit and miss. Some good, some looked and acted like we should be thankful to be there. I never understand this attitude but the “cooler” the location then the more you encounter this attitude. Food was limited. When there are a choice of five mains and two of them are no longer available it’s not great. We chose not to stay for a breakfast at £25 a head once you add a coffee and a juice into the equation. Tick. I’ve stayed at a Pig. I won’t stay again

This really is the best Pig we have visited. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the wines were delicious. We had the charcuterie board and humus with flatbreads to start. A good sized portion of each was delivered to our table. We then had the lentil curry and fish pie with a selection of cold salad spoons. All were seasoned perfectly. Excellent value for money.

We expected a lot given the price and description. The room is well supplied with nespresso machine and snacks. Good bed and shower. Not the largest but confined by age of building. Catering is more like a coffee shop than a restaurant. Some staff are very good and friendly whereas a couple are more like style over substance, ie. ask the right questions but not interested in listening to the answer. Certainly very handy for city centre and West Quay. But still, overall we don't feel it is worth £250 per night plus £17.50 each for breakfast.

We love The Pig in the Wall. This was our second visit here and found it to be as good or better than the last time we stayed. The accommodations were unique in this historical building. The breakfast buffet was excellent too. TheInn is on the border of Old Town, which makes it great for walking the area from the hotel. Then…it’s a short cab ride to get on your cruise ship.

We popped out of the Southampton Boat Show for a spot of lunch, and found this delightful little gem of a place: the welcome was lovely, the setting great, and the lunch - made up of a combination of little parts - was simply top-notch! Every second spent here was delightful!
