The room was very clean and tidy, the staff are very friendly and helpful, had a brilliant night and would stay again, highly recommend to anyone looking for accommodation or just a good pub with a great atmosphere for drinking in the Southampton area, also not far from the boats if you’re travelling to or from the Isle of Wight.

Brilliant stay, a lot of thought has gone onto this place, the bed is super comfy as is the linen used, fantastic selection of toiletries, loads of tea and coffee making available, no stingyness here, small fridge in room and immaculately clean. There is a lot of history attached to this place which is reflected in the pub decor. I stayed Friday night and consider myself a light sleeper, it was a bit noisy as this is a grade two listed building so I don't think the double glazing sales man is going to pick up a ticket here...😆 Funny enough the noise was really not a problem, it was quite by 12.30. The owners have put fans and heaters in the room so having the window closed in Summer is not an issue. I was staying in room 4 which looks out onto the street, it's a large room and probably one of the best nights sleep in a very long time..... Real thought and care has gone into making these rooms very customer focused, I would definitely stay again and am all for supporting independent business. There is an air bed in the room if your travelling with a little one. The stairs may be a challenge for some, but you are in the heart of some of the best eateries, so a very, very short walk to pubs and restaurants which saves the legs, there's also a separate secure entrance, so your not walking through a pub to get to your room...... Staff were really friendly and helpful. This place is fantastic and has a really good energy to re-charge in..... Thankyou! 😀…

Charming! Millie and Damien were very helpful; the room was clean with an excellent view of the nearby pubs and eateries. It exceeded expectations! We decided to walk to the cruise port with our luggage - good choice - through a beautiful park around the corner. Would definitely stay here again.

After a long flight to London from Minneapolis, followed by a bus to Southampton, The Grapes was a welcome and charming surprise at a great rate. We booked Room #3, a twin room. We prefer a king, but after a long day of travel we wanted a little extra room. The room is up two flights of tight stairs, but very walkable (we’re 62/70). The bar will keep your heavy luggage downstairs, so just pack what you need in the room. The room was exceptionally clean! I loved the smell of bleach in the bathroom too. The host has all the amenities you need from still and sparkling water, an assortment of coffee/creamers, biscotti, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, and big soft towels in the en-suite bath. White furniture, tan/cream walls, and great bed linens were clean, comfortable, and tasteful. There are hair dryers, and irons in the shared couloir along with an assortment of converter plugs. Check-in was smooth at 1pm and check-out is at 11am. A keyed entry, and another to the room made it feel super safe. Oxford Street is a bustling outdoor pedestrian only pub/restaurant area. If a little street noise bothers you, ask for another room not facing the street. Damien was incredibly helpful and even shared the ‘gold’ card, which gave us 10% at the bar below. Would definitely stay here again!…

Ideal place to stay to explore Southampton or to enjoy the 1865 live music venue! Paul's customer service was second to none and our overnight stay in Oxford Street was so much easier with his help!

Awesome place to stay in Southampton. Staff was super friendly. Room was big and clean. Coffee and tea amenities available. Great private bathroom and good beds. Great location to visit the old town and to go to the marina or the cruise terminal, and lovely history as well. Be aware the rooms are above a pub and at night you have some noise but we thought it added to the authentic and cosy vibe. It wasn't too loud either. Bonus: as a guest you get 10% discount in the bar. No breakfast available but great breakfast spots in the neighbourhood. Can't recommend enough!

Stayed here for 1 night to see a gig at St Mary’s. About 15 mins walking distance to the stadium and 25 to the train station. I was very pleased with the room, super clean with tea, coffee and water provided, a little TV and a comfy bed. I was a bit worried about the noise considering its location over a busy pub but there was no disturbance whatsoever. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!

Contacted the property on numerous occasions via Booking.com, email and phone but didn't get a response on any occasion. Raised the issue with booking.com who got in contact with the property only to be told they were unwilling to change the booking and charged me the full £72 room rate. I won't be using Grapes again either to drink in or stay as their customer service is atrocious. All they care about is the money and not the customers needs. Absolute shame as I was born and bred in Southampton and to be treated like this by local establishment doesn't sit well with me at all.

Nice one night stay at the grapes inn, clean large and comfortable room couple of floors up. Came with toiletries, towels, tea/coffee/water and biscuits. Pub is cosy too, and in nice area with restaurants around. Staff were very helpful and welcoming! Decent price too.
