A nice friendly greeting of a £10 a night parking charge which is added onto your bill. Its a complete con as the hotel is 2 miles out of town on an A road. This is a hidden cost by IHG and feels like a scam. It's so 2024 and feels like an added extra that a budget airline would lump on. When booking the room in December there was no mention of this. It left a really sour taste in my mouth to the extent me and my partner checked out early and came home. It's sad because the hotel is pretty good and you can tell from the staff morale they're all fed up with people moaning about it.

Excellent staff - Anna on reception you were a star helping me out which my hot room last week - THANK YOU! Restaurant is pretty good, £25 for two courses and a drink offer is great VFM. The 'egg lady' at breakfast is fabulous, really friendly. The hotel is a little out of town though and if you want to eat there a 10 min drive or probably a taxi as the parking is awful in town! No hesitation in stopping there again, as I do regularly. Easy access from the motorway and A34.

An excellent experience all-round: friendly, efficient and very helpful staff; well designed, well appointed (accessible for disabled) and quiet room; extremely comfortable beds; spacious and airy lobby/entrance. We did not partake of breakfast, preferring room only. We would use again. A small downside was negotiating routes in and out of town, especially given the number of road closures.

Excellent 'chain' hotel experience. The usual offering but delivered by some great folk, particularly reception and restaurant staff who made the children feel special. A great mix of standard fare and the personal touch. P.S. The science museum next door was a hit [for the 5 and 6 year olds]

We bought overnight spa break package via Spa Breaks. The location was convenient and the spa sounded attractive. We were disappointed by the whole experience. There is £10 parking charge at the hotel. The check in was not terribly welcoming and rather transactional. We booked a table at the restaurant at check in. The spa was disappointing due to it's size (it's tiny!), not enough loungers, it was cold there and the jacuzzi was cold and not working properly. They changed our treatment appointments without prior notice so we had to change our plans. The treatment of full body exfoliation and facial were as good as we could have done at home. No interest from the therapist in any problem areas or concerns. Treatments did not last as long as advertised. We wanted to order a snack whilst in the spa reception area and were told that we're not allowed any food. This was whilst the team member was tidying away a table with leftovers, pizzas and drinks. She clearly did not want to have to clear away another table so said we could not have any food/snacks. Our room was very cold and one of our room cards did not work. We went out to the restaurant for dinner and realised we did not have a reservation. The restaurant was half empty so this was no problem, but again, just hassle. The waitress did not understand that we had booked the spa break and that £25 towards our evening meal was included. She told us that unless we choose specific meals we would have to pay the full price. We asked for the supervisor who confirmed our understanding. We requested that balance is added onto our room bill (standard procedure) but again, this proved difficult and caused us going back and forth to the reception as they failed to ask for a credit card at check in for any additional charges. There was some noise at night as there was a big function on at night. Some door banging at night, not what we needed. Breakfast was ok, no selection of breads (only white or brown) and no rolls. There were no coffee mugs readily available and coffee out of machines was awful. Check out was ok. Overall, not a great experience for what was meant to be a relaxing night away. I would not return and I would not recommend this hotel/spa. The spa break was not good value for money. Stay elsewhere.

We really enjoyed our stay, at this chain, celebrating the New Year, in the Hampshire suite. We received a warm welcome. Our room was warm and cosy and larger than I expected. The evening kicked off with a glass of fizz to get our party started. The meal itself was nicely presented and of a good quality. There was also plenty of little touches like crackers, hats, balloons etc on the table. The bar was just outside the function room to get further drinks. The DJ was very good, the dance floor was full all evening and there was paper and pens to ask for requests. He did almost forget the count down at midnight! More fizz at midnight. Perfect. All the staff worked so hard making our evening perfect. The breakfast buffet is fine, as usual the toaster makes raw or burnt offerings! The egg chef was brilliant. Luckily, we didn't have to pay the car park charge of £10 per day which comes into action in January. It seems a unnecessary extra. It was very noticeable that a lot of the staff were wearing un ironed shirts. Having said that they were all very friendly and happy to help. Would I celebrate in a Holiday Inn again? ......yes I would.

In short - the hotel felt a bit dated and overpriced - something like a Premier Inn would offer better value and a more comfortable bed. Pros: - Quiet and clean room with USB charging outlets - Friendly staff at check-in - Pillow menu - Free EV charging points (2x 7kW) - obviously subject to availability - Bus every 30 minutes to the town centre - these take take 10 minutes and costs £2 (you can pay with contactless). This is very convenient as finding parking in the town centre can be a pain. - Interesting Australian "superfood" bathroom amenities - Free parking (but not for much longer... see cons). Cons: - Dated rooms: small old 32" TV with no "smart" capabilities, old fashioned bathroom, Nescafe coffee - Uncomfortable bed - mattress was much too soft and saggy for me - Windows don't open, can't get fresh air - They will start charging £10 for parking from January which I think is a bit rich given the fact that the hotel is too far from town to walk...

We stayed in the middle of December. When checking in, the receptionist made a point (without prompting) of saying there was a bug function on but luckily we wouldn’t be impacted in the location of our room. Not sure if she just thought it was a good way to make a terrible situation worse but this could not have been further from the truth. From 10pm to midnight our room was shaking with the bass of the music, we had people screaming in the corridors until 1am and had absolutely no sleep. I went to reception to ask to move rooms and was told we couldn’t as they had limited room and would have to clean our room as we had been in there. Appalling. The whole situation was made worse by our check in where the receptionist blatantly lied. We were offered a 50% refund which to me is not acceptable considering we had no sleep and felt absolutely awful the next day: if you stay call ahead and check there is no event on as the music is absolutely unnecessarily loud and can be heard in the rooms on the ground floor.

We booked 3 niggts in an executive room, mainly because it has a large bed. The hotel is a 10 minute bus ride into Winchester, the bus stoo is a 5 minute walk away and runs every 30 mins but after 6 its every hour and was always on time, impressed. The hotel reception is very nicely laid out and very clean, bow the penny pinching moans. When you book an executive room it states amongst other stuff bottles of water and confectionery in the fridge namely a kitkat and a picnic bar. On the tea/coffe tray were 2 packs of biscuits, 4 in total, nice too. Day 2 when we came back to our cleaned room there were no biscuits no water no confectionery, now me being a sweet tooth i questioned receotion only to be told that its only on first night you get the above in your executive room!! I feel this is pure penny pinching, i paid £356 for the room in advance spent a wedge on alcohol (£13 for a double brandy for instance) but they quibble over water buscuits and kitkat. So the way i see it there are other places to stay where they look after you and wont stay again on principle, oh and starting january its £10 a night to park
