This hotel is excellent value for money, in a great location 5 minutes walk from train station and about 10 minutes to walking into town , with very polite staff and facilities. On arrival we had been allocated a room up grade which was amazing including a fridge with complimentary water bottles each day, coffee and tea making facilities with biscuits , an iron ironing board, and hair dryer. The room was very clean and very quite nice decor and very cosy. The bar area is a great place to just sit and have a drink, tea and cake and a chat or have business meetings . Breakfast was great everything from good old English breakfast to continental all hot and an amazing choice, all set in a beautiful light room with stunning decor. There is a spa with a gym and swimming pool although we didn’t unfortunately have time to use it we took a look and it also looked amazing. This hotel if you want to visit Winchester is well worth it .

Having asked for an early check in and being refused by means of an automated email we checked in late afternoon after moving my daughter into her university. A very young man at reception offered the Choice to pay for the room outright or pay a deposit. A deposit turned out to be more expensive and no explanation given so we settle the room puzzled.
Room 233 happens to be a convoluted walk around 6 corridors Hansel and Gretel would need extra bread for . Mediocre corporate and impersonal furnishings. despite asking for a quiet room , there was a noise of a machine engine going off and on. Maybe the air condition. The bathroom was small and dated with cheap granite look alike and slanted sink to fit in someone sitting on the loo. Big instruction labels for using the shower taps worthy of an ikea cupboard. Had not seen a plastic shower rail in years! Unhygienic , unattractive and unexpected.

Breakfast - staggered due to COVID. We had to take the 8;45 slot. Long queue into the restaurant manned by very young crowd. When we finally sat down we ordered full English breakfast. Toast arrived pretty quickly, one single poached Egg, two slices of marginally cooked bacon, plenty of baked beans, a shrivelled tomato and a tasteless mushroom came after 40 minutes. The toast was eaten in the long wait so we asked for more toast which came by the time we had digested the food. The americano pot of coffee was so burnt it gave an acidic after taste.

The hotel seems to cater for large groups, be it for weddings, conferences.
We didn’t fit into a slot to lay on one of the 4 plastic sun beds by the minuscule pool and no one had access to the beautiful sun terrace which features in the many pictures of this hotel. All in all it wasn’t worth the £250 paid for the night. Certainly Wouldn’t come back.

We were not sure what to expect after reading some negative reviews, but overall we were impressed with the location, facilities, the staff, room and menus for dinner and breakfast.
Close to the rail station and walking distance to the shops and cathedral etc. make this a good choice and currently free parking is on offer. Some of the spa facilities are closed for your safety, and the pool is small, although power jets are available for the energetic. (Attention needs to be given to the tiles above the water in the pool - very grimy!). The one person rule in the changing room at a time is not workable.
Our room was comfortable, with more storage and facilities than expected in a mid range hotel (fridge in room). Quite a few rooms don't really have a view (Velux rooflight), so if you are staying more than one night as for a window room). The bed was comfortable, if rather a soft mattress.
The dinner allowance of £25 cover most items on the menu for starter and main and the service was timely and well organised: the same was true for the inclusive breakfast, and the non availability of the buffet, meant that items were more freshly cooked, than otherwise might have been.
Be a touch careful at check out - our Dinner allowance had not been deducted from our room charge.
If in the area we would choose this hotel again.

We were able to check in early, but had a disabled room, was not told that when checking in. Due to covid restrictions we could not change. So everything in the bathroom was low. Finding the room was like being in a maze. The room was dark with the lights having a yellow tone. The room was comfortable, we did have to open the window during the night as it got warm.
All the staff were friendly and attentive.
Breakfast was off a menu and could have as much as you liked. Service was good and quick, cooked breakfast could have been a bit warmer. We did not go hungry. Don't order everything at once. It comes out all at the same time. You have to book for breakfast. We changed the time for the second morning, with no trouble.

We did not use the pool, it did not look big enough for a proper swim.

The terrace area was nice to sit and have a drink in the evening.
Most people we saw wore masks and there were hand gel stations in lots of areas.
Location is great less than 10 mins walk into town, and a petrol station just round the corner to fill up before you go home.
Parking in the hotel was free at the time we stayed there.

Don’t even know where to start, in whole honesty! This is a very dirty hotel and under current circumstances shouldn’t even be allowed to be open. Not sure how can the management prove that they’re doing everything possible to stop the spread of germs when they have huge issues with their housekeeping department. Are they even checking the reviews posted here or they simply don’t care? After seeing the earlier comment about the shower vent being full of dust, you would’ve thought it’s no longer there, and still, we were given a room with the shower “view” overlooking a miserable vent full of years’ worth accumulated dust. Booked this place because I called them up in advance and they said their spa, including the sauna, were open. Terrible mistake though, should’ve never booked! Morning starts with housekeeping staff slamming the doors of checked out rooms continuously while in and out. Breakfast is mediocre and ingredients are obviously the cheapest. Shower curtain had left over hair (including a curly one) from at least two other guests from before. The spa facilities I’ve seen here I never ever in my life whitnessed before and I surely hope I won’t have to ever again in my life. There is dust, hair and dirt everywhere you look, how on earth can they ever claim they’re disinfecting if basic cleaning tasks are never completed here? I hope the virus wipes off of the earth places like this hotel claiming to be 4 stars worth.

Our trip was to this hotel chosen by friends for a long weekend. We drove down from Kent with some trepidation as it is quite expensive and recent reviews have not been the best. However, we were pleasantly surprised.

We used the Hotel car park and just left the car there for the weekend, walking around the town to visit the centre and Cathedral etc. You did have to pay but that is true of many now. There was a wedding in progress when we arrived so it was naturally busy but it did not give any problems or disturbance.

The reception and bar/dining area were fine with nice seating. The bedroom and bathroom were slightly dated but OK and acceptable (be good to apply some bleach and a toothbrush to the black grout around the soap dish though). Agreed, the use of a shower curtain was not great but it was clean, no problems with a hot shower and good water pressure. The AC worked quietly and all facilities were there in the room with fresh tea, coffee and biscuits, and water in the fridge each day. The window view was not the best but it is a city centre hotel so looking at other buildings and the car park is to be expected.

The staff were all helpful and nice. At breakfast we requested a table for the 6 of us and they happily put two tables together. The breakfast was self service but was plentiful with just about everything hot and cold you could want. Tea and coffee was delivered to the table as required.

We ate in the Hotel one night and the food was good with good service and very pleasant friendly staff. Also had a nightcap in the bar each evening!

We used the Spa for the swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Unfortunately the Jacuzzi was closed for maintenance after the first day. There were a few very small tiles missing from the steps into the pool but on the whole it was fine. It is not large but did not seem to be heavily occupied while we were there.

Overall we enjoyed the stay and thought the Hotel was quite good.

Following ease of restrictions we visited Winchester last weekend on the way to the coast. Staying at the named property. The hotel itself was OK, clean, unexciting with not much to write about. We had paid for a "Club room" which was supposed to be bigger, I have no idea if that was the case having not seen any other rooms. Whilst it was appointed with all the usual - hairdryer, plenty of plugs, TV etc, its location on the second floor meant that it was effectively in the roof. This meant the bathroom roof was partially sloped above the toilet which I ket banging my head on. OK I am very tall but I think any man over six feet tall would experience the same. Our room was not ready for three hours after we had requested check in. We had requested 1400 and due to traffic arrived at 1600 and not in the room till 1500, so we really only waited an hour but had we been there on time it would have been a let down. We were directed to the bar, since it would be ready shortly and enjoyed a drink - which we paid for, thought the hotel may have comped that due to the lateness of the room.

Breakfast was as average as you could get, but plentiful and requests for omissions or extras were happily accommodated. Reception staff were very polite and professional. Orange juice was from concentrate.

I realise of course that so much is unknown of the current pandemic situation so was pleased to see all the staff in customer facing positions either behind screens or wearing masks.

We arrived at the hotel and the first impression was not what we would expect. Right outside the hotel is a public car park for taxis, coaches and cars.

The sanitiser at the door was empty so I mentioned it to the receptionist so they can fill it up and again the following day but after 4 days when we left it was still empty.

The whole place was ok and the restaurant food was not that good but the service was excellent. The staff are all friendly and helpful.

Our room was sufficient and clean however the bathroom grout did have some black marks from dirt or mould, for the price we paid we’ve expected a nice clean white grout in the shower.

We were in room 006 and it was very noisy. The foot steps of the people above was very heavy and loud and it went on until 00:15 in the morning and woke me up at 08:00 am due to the foot steps above our bed. You can also hear the water running. All in all it was ok but we will not be back.

Unfortunately this hotel was very disappointing for a 4 star. Our stay did not resemble a 4 star experience.

Our main issue came when we entered the room which smelt strongly of cigarettes. This was a non smoking room, however someone had clearly been smoking in the bathroom or the smell was coming through the vents. We complained to reception who said they would deal with the issue. The solution from the hotel was spraying some febreeze into the room. Not ideal. The room itself was not to a 4 star standard and resembled more of a budget hotel with very old fashioned decor. The wallpaper is peeling and needs refurbishment. We stayed in a standard double, so this is not to say the more premium rooms will not be nice.

The staff here cannot be faulted, all were very friendly and welcoming. We did not get to use the spa facilities as the last entry was 1830.

The hotel costs £12 a day to park there which is ridiculous when you are paying for a premium hotel. To add insult to injury there is a pay and display car park in front of the hotel which is slightly cheaper, however you will have to wake up early to go and renew the ticket.

The breakfast service was not bad. After a small wait to be seated its a self serve breakfast and the food is to a good enough quality.

Overall we left disappointed. A real shame as the staff were great and Winchester itself is fantastic.

Stayed at this hotel in August. They had really good measures to protect visitors and staff by supplying hand sanitiser at all main points. Rooms are cleaned and sanitised before you arrive, if you are there for less than 4 nights no. One else enters your room to avoid any possibility of cross contamination. We used the gym and pool, all social distancing measures were in place. Ate at the restaurant all three nights we were there as the food was really good. Overall a great stay, friendly staff and walking distance to sites at Winchester, which made it an ideal place to stay.

There is minimal parking for residents but right in front of the hotel is a massive public car park. Can't remember exactly how much it was, under £5 for the night we think. Enjoy 😊
