I loved the room sizes and the layout, Rooms are simple, practical and clean. Hot water system was great. Even though the team is small but friendly. Breakfast is good value for money. Plenty of parking.

First use of a Premier Plus room for me and my partner on a 3 day stay. Rooms are nicely decorated and the fridge is useful as is unlimited Wi-Fi. Disappointed no more hooks in the bathroom to hang anything from, as this has always been an obvious failing with Premier Inns generally. Why the ironing board too? Just took up room. I'd rather ask for one if needed. Nespresso machine of interest, but no instructions and just didn't seem to work properly, with water container at the back being loose.

Room 333 was pleasant enough, though the main door on the corridor needs to close more quietly. The biggest issue however that is just unacceptable is that the toiled takes 15 minutes (60 times longer than mine) to fill and the flush was poor. Reported twice but nothing done about it. Am guessing the whole system in the building is dysfunctional.

In terms of service, it is a difficult time, but I don't expect the toilet seat not to be fixed properly and for the shower gel to be empty. I also don't expect to report these several times, and in the case of the shower gel it was never replaced.

Not enough toilet roll for a 3 day stay, 1 towel for two adults for 3 nights isn't sufficient and I don't want to have to ask for tea, milk and coffee to be replenished. I understand the company is trying to reduce the amount of cleaning it does of its linen, but because we asked for 1 towel and had to ask for other things numerous times, somehow I think we ended up with 10 towels in total. Baffling!

Price couldn't be faulted and there's free parking. Easy access to the town too. Sort out the toilets and how people can have stocks of what they need in the room (perhaps an app just to order additional items??) and this review would have been much more positive.

I did find the room at night a bit too warm and the temperature didn't exceed 22 on our stay and it was often cloudy. There was aircon but this was too noisy to leave on at night or even to put on to cool the room down.

We stayed one night in September 2020. When we got to the reception there was a small queue and we saw many staff whilst we were waiting.
The young man on the desk asked everyone in front of us when they would like to book in for breakfast apart from us, which i had paid for in my booking. I thought this was odd but thought i would ask next time i was coming down to reception.
The room was big and very clean, the social distancing measures were all in place.
However when my partner went to have his bath we realised we only had one large towel, despite the guy on reception asking for all parties names in the room.
When my partner went down to reception after drying himself with a hand towel we were told the extra towels would be left outside our room.
They were not, and as we got back late no one was on reception to ask.
My partner once again went down in the morning and explained we didn't have enough towels despite asking the previous day. My partner also enquired about breakfast and as the initial guy hadn't booked us in, we had to wait until 10:30 for a slot to become available.
Overall we had a nice stay it was just the basic service lacking, no doubt the staff are under a lot of pressure from the new covid policies.

Stayed at the Winchester premier inn as a birthday treat for my husband. We arrived after organising a babysitter and was so disappointed in how the room was. We stayed in room 325 and was met with a tatty room with dust everywhere. There was stains everywhere! God knows what of! After me having abit of meltdown over the covid and the room we decided to stay and not drive home as my husband had looked forward to a break from the kids. I pre paid breakfast when i booked the room in early September only to be told only available slot for breakfast was 10.45 or 7.15. So it was either super early or quite late, we opted for the later one when we checked in. Wished we knew when booking as i could of planned to eat somewhere else. After seeing the room me and my husband was so put off from eating in this hotel due to the lack of cleanliness that we woke up and packed our stuff by 9.30 and asked to speak to the manager. I shared my concerns about the amount of dust etc and the covid 19 and are the room's being cleaned to a high standard to protect their guests etc to be told the room was most likely not in occupancy and that would explain the dust??? They did cancel our breakfast and put the money back on my card but they didn't seem very concerned about what i had said about the room? I did try to email premier inn but so far i have not heard anything. We stayed in sevenoaks premier inn back in August and they were spotless..constantly cleaning that i had thought this was safe to stay in the Winchester one how wrong was we. Honustly quite a grim hotel.

Hi there, Thanks for your message. We're really disappointed to hear about all the cleanliness issues you had as well as the breakfast issues as we can appreciate the frustration this would have caused. We'll be sure to get this passed over to the Hotel Management team to ensure the Housekeeping team are carrying out procedures according to our policy. We would advise contacting our Guest Relations team as they should be able to take look into this further for you. Hopefully we can welcome you back soon and restore your faith with us. 3 night stay in a Premier Plus room 336

We had previously stayed at a PI in Portsmouth where the room was good and the food sub-standard – here was the exact opposite

Top floor room – comfy bed – good fridge and TV – but had its downsides – coffee maker leaked – bathroom smelt of damp and there was evidence rotting wood – soap dispensers empty – we had a replacement bladder of soap from another PI room – no chocolates – only one bottle of water – efficient but noisy air conditioning…..

But on the other hand the breakfasts were a distinct improvement on Portsmouth – well cooked bacon and sausage – no shortages of pastries – a feeling of calm rather than the hectic pace in the other kitchen….

The PI has a free car park – we had no problems finding spaces – it is an easy downhill walk into the city centre – and there is a bus stop close to the PI for the return journey – we ate twice at the Golden Lion – an uphill 15-20 minute walk away – or a matter of moments by car – very good – last night ate at Rick Stein’s – not great but there is free on-street parking within walking distance….

We got the impression that this PI was struggling with supplies – not as generous with replacement coffee capsules as elsewhere – we bought our own in the end from the nearby Tesco’s – the room was a very dated Premier+ in need to improvement – it was tired – whilst comfortable in the main I would question its value for money over a standard room in the same hotel – thank you

My wife and I needed a hotel for New Years Eve as we were visiting friends locally and I scouted around for a reasonably priced hotel and found the Premier Inn.
Based on the price I was expecting a budget level hotel but this was clean, bright and welcoming.
The receptionist was pleasant and efficient booking a taxi for us and organizing an additional bath sheet.
The room is well appointed with a king sized bed, clean bathroom plus facilities for tea/coffee making plus a wall mounted flat screen TV.
If we're have occasion to be in the area again I would definitely stay here!

Easy to reach when driving and parking available it is about a mile easy walk to the city centre so for the able bodied it is an excellent inexpensive location to stay. Staff are friendly, breakfast is excellent if not fast, WiFi is free, bed comfortable, bathroom clean so decent to sleep with Airconditioning for hot nights. I’d recommend.

I checked into the premier on 19th August. The woman at the check in desk was friendly, built up a rapport and it was easily done.she was very helpful.
The room I stayed in 316 is perfectly fine with the exception the walls really need a lick of paint.
I booked a breakfast table for 9 30am the following morning and this is where the poor show really starts.

The restaurant is not managed correctly at all. It's so bad that it's not covid safe for customers as we are packed into reception area over spilling into the lift area and hallway with no distance between us
Our table was not ready for 9 30am as booked because customers are not either timed or managed according to numbers. We ended up being seated at 10:10am.
the staff are not assigned to areas so they are running around in all parts trying to stay afloat.
The restaurant had 8 tables free all well distanced but not being maximised which was part of the reason for overspill in the que

I really feel for the staff as they are fire fighting rather than having clear leadership from the duty management team

There is also no one manning the front desk to deal with enquiries from other customers

Handy location near to the motorway, central Winchester, central to lots of sites/ areas, and a few minutes from a Tesco. Lots of parking available in a car park behind/ under the building, which is well lit, with cctv and has easy access into the hotel directly from it, though holes/ ridges on the way into the car park which need filling in. Small functional lobby area (not really for lounging in for any length of time) with welcoming and helpful staff. Friendly staff, decent food and good cleanliness at breakfast. Tables well spaced/ with screens, good in the current climate, with guests wearing masks when not seated. Bedrooms with very comfortable beds, big bathrooms, toiletries in dispensers on the wall, coffee and tea making facilities. Very quiet: can’t hear anyone else in corridors etc when inside your room. We had an interconnecting room through to our kids’ room, which worked really well for us, giving independence and togetherness at the same time (only a few of these in the hotel speed to request these and be lucky that they are available). Warm staff. No leaflets for tourists but we deliberately chose and used the hotel as a base for exploring - including Winchester centre (20 mins on foot) and by car: Beaulieu motor museum, Moors Valley, Marwell Zoo, Winchester Science Centre - ie handy for travel/ tourism.

I selected a Premier because you always know what you are going to get. Maybe not on this occasion. The Premier Inn was ideal being just twenty min walk from Winchester City center. The decor looks tired and in need of renovation. Though it was clean. When I checked in I was literally just told my room number...that was it. I had booked breakfast on each of the three mornings of my stay when I booked the room. They failed to tell me I need to book a time at reception prior to each morning. This was only relayed on the second morning when again my name wasn't on the list when going in for breakfast. I the third morning when I had booked my timed table, it took 15 mins for my order to be taken and after 35 mins I had to ask when my breakfast may arrive. Two mins later a breakfast arrived..not what I had ordered but I ate what I wanted because I was going to be late. Bakery items never arrived after a second chase and I ended up having to leave without these. 50 mins for breakfast seems a bit excessive, and the excuse was it was a bit hectic in the kitchen....best the staff and managers make sure its not hectic and service runs smoothly for their customers. Possibly the worst Premier Inn I have stayed in in terms of customer care and service.
