Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great welcome with complimentary tea and cake on arrival, however the cleanliness needs to be addressed, thick dust on photo frames and dirt and grime behind the bed and unfortunately there was a used sanitary product behind the bin, could be a fabulous hotel, lovely building just needs updating.

Great welcome. Friendly family-run hotel with good parking in easy walking distance of the train station and town centre. Comfortable room and homely atmosphere. My freshly cooked breakfast was delicious. Fabulous choice of locally produced jams. Would happily return.

We were greeted by Michael who immediately supplied us with coffee and cake on arrival. That’s a first for me! When we’d finished, he took us to our room which was called Bowes Lyon on the first floor. The room was enormous with a king size bed, sofa and three other hard back chairs. There was tea and coffee making facilities, ironing board and iron, plenty of sockets all around the room and a TV. The en-suite was spotless with a shower cubicle, loo and washbasin and lots of fluffy towels. Shower gel and hand wash was also provided. Breakfast was really nice with a bowl of fruit and juice to start, endless coffee and tea, toast and marmalades and jams and I chose the full English with was lovely. I don’t know if they have any rooms downstairs for disabled guests, if not, then this hotel is not for you if you have mobility issues. Plenty of free parking outside and it’s a 5-10 minute walk into the pedestrianised area of shops. In my opinion, this is in a perfect position from town, and for the cost, very good value. If I’m in Hereford again, I will definitely stay here.

Fabulous listed Georgian building only 10 minutes walk from Hereford centre. Room we had was on the 3rd floor and stairs all the way so if you have mobility issues make sure you let them know. We were in Frederick William, a large spacious room with a King size bed which was very comfortable. Very clean throughout but rusty loo brush and toilet roll holder didn't look good. Breakfast was served by Michael, one of the owners who was the perfect host and food was excellent. Massive selection of marmalades and jams from local suppliers. The lemon and ginger marmalade was particularly good! Plenty of free parking on site

Lovely warm welcome from Michael, room was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is located near to all the main shops. I stayed in the Lawrence room which was a very spacious, well decorated room. So nice to be offered a coffee on arrival. that was a nice treat. I will be staying again when next visiting Hereford.

The greeting at this hotel is warm and friendly, with plenty of help offered. However, it feels really sad that this hotel seems to have seen better days. It is a beautiful building, but time has taken its toll and the public areas are shabby and a little bit grubby. I was shown up two flights of stairs to a room which felt a bit like the land that time forgot. There was a slight smell of damp about everything, one of the pillows had somebody else’s hairs embedded into it, another was dirty, and the room was generally tired and unloved. The heating did not work. The curtains were hanging off their rail. The shower screen was broken. The toilet did not flush and the seat did not fit. The sink did not drain. Walls had dirty marks on them. The window was filthy and almost impossible to open because the secondary glazing prevents you from accessing the catch to open the sash. There is no food served in the evening, despite the website showing a restaurant. I only discovered this by reading another review just before setting off to travel.

Don't know when photos were taken but our bedroom was nothing like this. One site said family run and shows lovely family and really nice hotel in their photos. It was absolutely nothing like, plus a hotchpoch of unrelated knickknacks. It may have been wonderful once but sadly not anymore. 😥😥

Our family enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the Garden Room to celebrate a special occasion. The food was great (catering for vegetarians & gluten-free) and we were particularly impressed by the service. Staff were friendly and helpful and looked after us so well. Some of our party stayed overnight. Our rooms were comfortable, and again, nothing was too much for staff who ensured our stay was an enjoyable one. Booking was easy and Michael was so helpful. Aylestone Court Hotel has plenty of parking and is conveniently located, within a short stroll into town.

We wanted to visit Hereford to celebrate my birthday and choosing the Aylestone Court Hotel really was the icing on the cake. We stayed in the Bowes Lyon room which was very impressive. The whole experience from booking the hotel, Michael welcoming us with a pot of tea and some homemade chocolate brownies and then surprising us with a glass of champagne each as a birthday treat was simply perfect. The following morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the sun-filled beautiful garden room which was first class. Michael recommended several restaurants in the town for us to explore; we went to the Miller & Carter in the Old Market area. If you like a good steak, this will be the place for you.
