We were given our 2 day stay at Verzon by our daughter who had previously enjoyed a short stay there and so we set off with high hopes.

Let me start with the staff. They were all unfailingly friendly and helpful. They were expecting us and made us welcome. The same people managed the restaurant, reception and the bar but they always seemed in control and to be enjoying their work. Luke even drove us to our Chase distillery gin tasting which was great because otherwise only one of us could taste all the gins on offer. ( and that would have been a disaster)

Next our bedroom. It was almost perfect and we both loved it. Ask for Room 9 on the second floor. The bedroom was big and airy and has 2 big windows looking out over the garden and hills and a huge bed with comfy linen and pillows. We had fresh milk in a pretty jug in the fridge with matching China cups and delicious homemade biscuits to nibble. The bathroom was large with plenty of place to put all our toiletries but the best of it was a big window looking out over the hills. The toilet is positioned quite high so that we could look out of the window while sitting on it. Truly a loo with a view. If I was pressed to ask how the room could be improved I would ask for somewhere , even a rail to hang our clothes.

The food was excellent. We tried different items off the breakfast menu and enjoyed them all. Definitely a cut above usual hotel fare. I had wild mushrooms with poached eggs on sour dough toast one morning which was really memorable. We ate in the hotel both nights we were there and each dish was beautifully presented and a delight to eat. We enjoyed sitting by the fire in the pub before our meal but there was also a fire in the main dining room. If I had to suggest an improvement I would ask for some more variety as there was no lamb or chicken on the menu and while the dishes we had were delicious, if we were staying longer we would have appreciated a bit more choice.

I would recommend a stay at Verzon and hope to return in the future.

Partner surprised me with a trip here for over Christmas. We checked in late but staff were excellent, showed us and our furry friend to our room and were positive, chatty and everything you want on arrival (didn’t catch his name but when we spoke about Ross on Wye he said that was where he’s from so shout out to him!) - stunning views over the Malvern Hills from all aspects of the bedroom/bathroom and room was spotless and well furnished.

As a Ledbury resident I regret it taking me so long to eat at Verzons. Recently had both a dinner & lunch here and both were first rate. The fixed price lunch menu is great value for money with a good range to choose from. The cocktails & dinner menu are so tasty & served by a friendly team of welcoming staff. A highlight in the Ledbury food scene!

Disappointing lack of general hospitality and service that you expect from a high end entablement only had crisp as lunch meaning we ordered pizza from outside source and ate it outside .We weren't told whilst booking on the phone that you need to pre order lunch .We pleaded for something to eat At £55 for per head as the only choice this is unacceptable . Having just returned from a drinking event organised through the hotel we expected food to be available .We were then also not able to drive . To not even rustle up a basic sandwich or snack is not something you expect paid for of course . We except things are different during covid but provision of food is a basic hospitality expectation.
Drinks at dinner took ages with confusing drinks options and most of the mains went without a drink many times no waiter to ask a question . Again you expect better service for £75 per head . Breakfast was a similar experience with one waiter clearly over worked and us having to as for salt and pepper not enough milk orange juice had to be asked for and not offered and no toast with a full English ??? and so on . It became embarrassing asking for more and at the restaurant wasn't busy. I think there is lots of room for improvement but our stay wasn't a disaster just a bit underwhelming , more like premier inn. The waiter moaned about swapping a extra sausage for cancelling black pudding surly just smile and agree not go into a lecture on how many sausages are bought that day for the hotel and the cost comparison of a sausage. Foods like these last for several days not one day . Not even a spare cookie for tea in the room sooo tight .
Staff were friendly but the "computer says no" attitude was indeed a bit sad .

Went and stayed the night as a family gathering to enjoy our Daughters birthday. Had driven past many times and had some good reports about the place. Our room was very disappointing obviously not designed with women in mind. Nowhere to hang clothes, nowhere for my wife to site and do makeup. Need a ladder or step to sit on the toilet and radiator not working. When I mentioned the radiator not working the comment was "Oh not again".

One good point and would recommend is the Gin Tour worth every penny and learn't a lot about making Vodka and gin while tasting the evidence.

As we were in a group we had to pre-order our food based on a very limited menu. I had chosen the trout followed by rump steak with Bernese sauce. I did ask if I could change the sauce but told no. I asked for my steak rare and it came as asked and was very nice unfortunately the triple cooked chips were not. The trout however consisted of two mouth fulls.

My main grip about the meal was the lack of serving staff. The one or two on duty seem to have to do everything from bartender to receptionist. Our table was booked for 7.30 and we were finally called through around 8.30. Starters arrived but no one had thought to ask if we would like wine so we had to chase the waiter for a wine list. This arrived in time for our mains which overall were good.

Breakfast was a strange affair. We arrived for breakfast at 8.30 and our order was not taken until nearly 9.30 after we asked then not to wait for others. Tea and coffees were very slow but we found it very unusual not to be offered Cereals or fruit as starter dishes so main course only. Not offered toast but this arrived when we requested it.

Overall very disappointed and not value for money would not recommend. This was not the staffs fault but management through not employing enough staff to deal with the amount of people staying.

The guy who served us breakfast was also serving us drinks at midnight and taking our payment at reception. Very nice but wholly overworked.

I booked my daughter and fiance the bridal suite here for their wedding day preparations and wedding night. It looked pretty special and was close to the wedding. I wanted to make it a special treat and wanted my daughter's pre wedding preparations to be stress free and lovely.

Hence, I liased with the hotel well in advance regarding an early check in and my daughter's dietary requirements, (vegan and gluten free) also the fact that it was her wedding day. I also asked the hotel to take their drink order when they arrived and provide whatever they wanted.

However on the day, their check in was pretty in welcoming and the staff were not prepared for them. The room was not ready and the kitchen staff had no knowledge of the specially arranged meal. Which left my daughter dealing with un needed stress on her wedding day.

When I arrived to help prepare the bride's, they hadn't had a drink order taken. There was no phone in the room to call room service. I went to arrange the drinks, however there was no real drink menu and the hotel also did not have any milk alternative when I tried to arrange a coffee for my daughter despite me letting them know in advance she was a vegan.

The room was beautiful, lovely view, but would have been better if it had been made ready.

Dissapointed that I was let down on this very important day.

The actual hotel is a beautiful building and well appointed. Our room was a good size with huge bed which was very comfortable. We had a room with a bath and shower over. I am pretty mobile but was very concerned to see no handles to the bath or grab handle. Very dangerous for the less mobile.
The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful.
The issues I had was with the choice of food on the menu and the chef getting it wrong. Bearing in mind the hotel was near enough empty and so little choice I’m surprised I was presented with a meal “off the lunch menu” instead of the evening menu, from which I had ordered. When I finally got what I ordered, the salmon was so salt it was inedible and the rest of the meal cobbled into a sort of lumpy patty. It didn’t even look attractive. I sent it back. Maybe an off day, but the only other diner also complained his food was cold. The previous night we had steak which was fine. The hotel also seems to have a fixation on sourdough bread! Fine for an evening meal, but hardly appropriate for toast at breakfast. It’s a real shame as there as aspects of this hotel which are great, but the food, lack of choice on the menu and then not cooked properly would prevent me from booking again. The cooked breakfast was its redeeming feature food wise. The staff try very hard, but somehow for me it just lacked a slick professional hotel experience

We visited recently having not been for many years and what a wonderful visit. The building presentation at night is fabulous and we enjoyed our really well prepared and presented cocktails in the lounge before eating in the restaurant, what a treat of very professionally and expertly created dishes, attention to detail and flavours stand out from the scallops, the crab, the lamb, the halibut and all the way through to the delicate flavours of the dessert and cheeses. Really well thought out food accompanied by a limited but quality wine selection. Thank you Doug and Chef Charlie for spoiling us, it was most memorable and we’ll be returning at our first opportunity ⭐️⭐️🥂🥂

Visited for a lunch with old friends.

Plenty of parking, plus a warm welcome on arrival.
Main dining room was well decorated and certainly light and airy. The open fire added to the atmosphere, and the room was comfortably warm.

We all had the 2 course special lunch menu, and were well pleased. The food was excellent; being well presented and piping hot.
Throughout the meal the service was prompt, effcient, and also very friendly.

It was also pleasant to be able to linger afterwards chatting over coffee, whist still remaining in the dining room.

All in all an excellent lunchtime venue.

We’ve just finished a wonderful 2 night stay. The hotel is beautifully completed, some really quirky bits I.e.the artwork outside the bathroom and some lovely traditional items. The room we had was stunning with a large shower and a lovely stainless steel bath. Really comfy bed and nice to have a fridge with fresh milk. Our room was looking over the busy road but so we’ll insulated we didn’t hear a thing.
Food was of a very high standard and very reasonable priced. Every member of staff was pleasant and charming in particular the young manager (think he was manager) who couldn’t do enough, he is a real asset to the hotel, give holiness a good salary so he’s not tempted to leave.
We will def be back.
