I loved staying in this nice little hotel! The atmosphere there was like being in a fairy tale. It is so cute both inside and outside. The room was very fresh and super cosy, I almost felt pity to leave it. Definitely will stay there again next time in Hertford!

Just had an amazing brunch! We chose the Garden Breakfast and we both said it was a full 10/10. Couldn’t fault anything. Tasted fresh and was served hot. Cannot recommend enough. The Hotel bar area is so cosy it’s a real find. You must visit.

The Salisbury has been the place to go to for all the family over many years!! the refurbishment has been amazing but sadly the experience was let down by staff. To begin with, I had made a point to book a table for my mums 88th birthday breakfast, picking the table in the front bar close to the fire. We arrived and the table was taken! No apology , nothing. The table we sat at wasn't set up for eating and we waited before any staff actually made a point to greet us, despite the fact I had made a point of my disappointment to the reception staff in a very discreet friendly manner just getting the point across. Our order was taken and the cutlery brought to the table, no condiments, then the coffee arrived and I had to go to the bar for the sugar!!! The staff were not friendly, no real greeting, in fact quite miserable. the food arrived but again I felt the service wasn't up to standard. We cannot fault the food except maybe if the breakfast states toast that this would normally come as a side , instead the toast was more like egg on toast on the plate, disappointing as we all like good toast with butter. There were no check backs and at the end of the breakfast after some time the table was only partly cleared. The member of staff didn't return and so we decided not to have a second coffee instead I had to go to the bar to ask for the bill. It wasn't busy and in my opinion the staff had no cares as to whether we had a good experience. I will be back as I am hoping this was a one off, lets hope next time the experience is as good as the overall refurbishment. Its not cheap so please please make the customer feel welcome, thank you …

Loved this place when some friends recently took us, food was excellent, staff were courteous and polite, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Lots of vegetables and proper home cooked food, a rare delight these days. Would definitely recommend.

Snug it was!! Loved our Snug room with it's beautiful decor, everything you could possibly need including a great shower and a very comfy bed with a light and so snuggly duvet and pillows like clouds.

Centrally placed. I like the revamp. Clean well equipped room, comfortable bed and lovely pillows, parking a bonus for sure. Continental breakfast was slightly poor. It’s Ok if you want toast and cereal but continental to me means meats and cheese options too. So we paid for a la carte, my partner really enjoyed the breakfast steak. Nice staff. We stayed for one night for a night out in Hertford.

Having used the Salisbury many times in the past, this was my first return since its refurbishment to meet with Australian relatives. While pre-lunch tea and coffee was fine, lunch itself was a huge disappointment. The Chicken Supreme dishes appeared to be served with bisto gravy and not the red wine gravy expected. Vegetables were hard and not al dante, chicken was overcooked and dry, dauphinoise potatoes with little flavour and small potions. Our guests had a Sourdough Ham sandwich which was tough and a disappointing Burger with no garnish. Sadly, a disappointing experience and one I won't be repeating again given there are much better eateries in Hertford. Please do not respond with your standard "We will use your valuable feedback as a training opportunity to ensure this does not happen again." as clearly lessons are not being learned.…

So sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit. Our menu has since been reviewed and we have have a whole new menu, offering plenty of different freshly made dishes and now have offerings of other breads for sandwiches as apposed to just the sourdough. I hope this one visit wont deter you from visiting again and letting us know you what the Salisbury is all about now. Kind regards The Salisbury Team

Absolutely lovely hotel and even better room. Paid the extra for the role top bath. Was a shame we had to go to a wedding as we could have happily stayed in the room for 2 days. The sound proofing is really good apart from you can still hear the drunk people singing in the streets when leaving the bars in the early hours of the morning. The beed was really comfortable, but an option of different pillow thicknesses would be nice. The food was lovely especially breakfast. We loved it here and would happily stay again. Thank you.
