Good position. Clean and quaint old cottage. Thought the road would be noisy at night but had a good nights sleep. Only continental breakfast but OK for us. Certainly better than staying in London as St Albans has a lot to offer and there were some good pubs only minutes away.

We were in St Albans for my husband to play in a golf match. We stayed for three nights and this is the first time we have stayed in a B&B as we have always stayed in hotels before . Fern Cottage is so homely and Dorothea is so charming and made us feel very welcome. Our room

I arrived later than I said but there was no fuss I was shown to my room by the charming Dorothea. I found the room to be charming and well equipped with a selection or teas and coffees and a kettle, and in the wardrobe a powerful hairdrier, rollers and brush, ironing board and

Excellent Bed and breakfast. Very friendly and welcoming owner. Nice comfortable, clean rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Good continental breakfast with plenty of choice. I will stay again in the future.

We were in St Albans for my daughters birthday, she gave us a short list to choose from and we booked into Fern Cottage. It looked good on the outside and even better on the inside. Dorothea made us welcome and showed us to our room, not large, the rooms are a similar size to min

How close is the cottage to transport links to London? Are ground floor rooms available?
Good afternoon, I would like to know if you have got any availability from 23rd till 27th of December. It will be just for myself and my little four years old dog, well trained. Please let me know prices etc. Thanks very much,Marianna
Do you have rooms available from 2-5th July? We are 3 adult and 2 kids 15 and 16 years So maybe 2 rooms....2 adults / 1 adult+2 kids What will it cost? BEST REGARDS RUNA KRISTOFFERSEN NORWAY
"If you prefer cooked breakfast, then don't order the breakfast, but go into town for breakfast or ask Dorothea if she will do one for you. I am not sure if she does this. If you need to sleep during the day ask for a room to the rear of the property as Old London Road can be noisy during the day, but its completely quiet after dark and I had no trouble sleeping whatsoever. Don't forget to ask for off street parking if this is something you want as it's limited."
"A difficult question really, we've stayed in two rooms and found them to be equally good. Best to ask Dorothea for advice if you want something in particular. She offered to fill our water flask without being asked and we appreciate that sort of friendly help."
"Don't take room at top of and left of stairs"
