Nestling in idyllic Hertfordshire countryside, Spielplatz is the perfect retreat for a weekend, week-long breaks, day visits or a relaxing swim&sauna after a day at work. We have plenty of caravan, campervan or tent pitches (no chalets). There’s something for all the family in this peaceful woodland paradise, from sun-drenched lawns to cool shady corners. Heated swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, Miniten and Boules, Clubhouse, and licensed bar. Currently we don't have a Cafe, but there are self-service refreshments available. Spielplatz combines the best of nature with modern facilities. Bookings must be made in advance by phone or email.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The facilities have been considerably improved during the lockdown. The management have used the time wisely. Improvements are as follows:- Pool recontitioned - looks clean and new. Pool heating - much improved. Toilets and showers - completely refitted out - looks new. New large hot tub with canopy - lovely and warm. Club House - Improved with an enlarged raised patio area Work in hand to renovate the kitchens to provide hot meals. At the moment post lockdown, you bring your own food. The bar is fully operational with very reasonable prices and a friendly barman. It is still that oasis of calm Going again soon

I had the absolute pleasure to stay for a few days R&R on this beautiful, secluded naturist site, nestled in rural Hertfordshire. The entire site is immaculate, the staff incredibly welcoming and friendly and I would not hesitate to recommend Spielplatz very highly indeed- especially if, like me, you are new to the naturist lifestyle. Thank you David and your team. I most definitely will be back.

Went here as a day visitor on a warm sunny day . Booking was simple. When I arrived had a warm welcome and easy to check in . Given a map of club and set off to discover . Club house had tea, coffee etc.. even though bar was closed just left the money on the counter. Walked around most people said hello . Will certainly visit again this summer .

we spent a very nice weekend at spielplatz naturist club,we found the check in friendly and efficient and were given a map of the site and directions to our chalet (the hideaway) this had its own parking space and was situated close to the clubhouse and pool. the chalet itself was very clean tidy and well equipped, the grounds near the pool provide large grass areas for comfortable sunbathing and relaxing. we found the residents and staff talkative and friendly,a very comfortable and relaxing weekend and all being well hope to return next year.

Just come back from there booked 2 nights but only stayed 1. The place is very tranquil the pool lovely warm clean. The area surrounding the pool beautiful. BUT it is let down by the facilities. We left because I was not comfortable with the idea of using the shower or the other toilets they screamed spiders. Which I am petrified of. We had our own toilet but could not empty it no chemical waste point. The washing up facilities I filthy sink. The natives where not very friendly. Where not shown standpipes had to search for them. So unfortunatly the bad outweighs the good. So will keep looking.

Arrival greeting was fine but our host was dressed. The chalet was quaint ,clean and adequate. The pool was warm and nearby. We went for a walk to club house but most people were dressed it was 16 degrees. In the evening we went to eat in the club house were most people were textiles. The food was good and plentiful with the chef being friendly. The clubhouse members were not welcoming even though we smiled and said hello.

I discovered this place quite by accident, I'm glad I did! I initially enquired by phone and booked in for only one night using my own tent. The weather was poor, but was made to feel welcome and toured the facilities. I was impressed and decided to stay on another night. After a swim in the outdoor pool and a drink in the bar with stimulating group conversation I felt like I was a frequent visitor, and will be again soon.

As a first time visitor to an establishment anything like this i was a little apprehensive at first, after setting my tent up for an overnight stay (fully dressed) , I immediately felf at ease as the were others completely starkers. Within half an hour had spoken to a number of people all of whom were totally as ease with themselves which put me in a reassuringly comfortable place, ages ranging from teens to pensioners were quite happy to talk to me without any reservations,. The facilities are excellent and the people were so friendly I will definitely be back.

We visited the club as musicians to perform at an event. Although we had visited naturist beaches abroad we had never visited a club in Britain. We found we were treated very generously and made most welcome. The pool and the hot tub were great and we will certainly return as paying guests. It's a peaceful haven and it's difficult to believe the M5 is so close by.
