Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Manor House with great character. Our en suite room was comfy and spacious. Julie soon made us feel at home with her warm friendly manner. homemade cakes and amazing breakfasts. The house is in a quiet location, yet not far from the main roads ready for you to explore the wonderful Island. Thank you Julie for your kindness nothing was ever to much trouble for you. We will definitely stay again. Di and Jim x

We arrived at Westcourt, having booked for four nights. We received a very warm welcome. There were fresh baked muffins in our room. The farmhouse is more than 500 years old and is listed. After a very warm welcome, we were shown to our very spacious room. There was a settee as well as an armchair in the room. The bed was comfortable. The entire house is full of character. The parking is easy and right in front of the house. The breakfast each morning was just amazing. Everything we wanted was there to eat. Our hostess was full of information about local attractions, and was always keen to hear about our day on returning. We would definitely stay again, and would thoroughly recommend Westcourt Farm. It’s a working farm by the way.

We stayed at Westcourt Farm during our walking holiday around the coastal path. Julie picked us up and dropped us off the next morning which was greatly appreciated! The breakfast was really tasty with lots of choice and local produce. The room and ensuite were spacious and comfortable and the grounds were beautiful (we had a picnic in the evening whilst watching the sheep in the adjacent field). It was a very relaxing and lovely stay!

Julie and the Russell family are warm and welcoming people. The Old Manor House Farm is working and rustic and lends it's self to a relaxing and picturesque setting, plus is a short walk from a good pub.

Julie arranges ferry crossings for you if you require. Family & Dog friendly and clean and cosy.

We stayed in the Manor House and we shall go back in the summer to enjoy the Farm at it's best.

We loved the ambience of the farm and it's surroundings.

This is the first hotel/ B&B that I've found and stayed in via tripadvisor and therefore thought it appropriate to write a brief review of my experience.
Obviously drawn to the 5* reviews below of westcourt farm we had high expectations and they didn't disappoint.

To start, the B&B itself is a beautiful old manor house with a lot of character in a picturesque setting and a short walk from a decent pub.

We arrived Tuesday afternoon to be welcomed by Julie and introduced to our room. The room was a good size and very cozy with a large comfortable bed. The en-suite was modern and clean and there is free wifi access if needed.

There was plenty of drink amenities in the room and it was lovely to relax in the room on arrival with a cup of tea and fresh homemade cake (a recurrent daily treat).

The breakfasts as already mentioned are brilliant and really set you up for the day.

There's nothing else to mention that hasn't already been said, but staying at westcourt farm really made it a relaxing trip to the Isle of Wight. We feel lucky for finding such a gem

Looking forward to coming back in the summer!

We've just returned from a long weekend at The Carthouse at Westcourt Farm, Shorwell.
We wanted a relaxing weekend and that's exactly what we got. We found it easy to book direct with Julie Russell at the farm and she also arranged our ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth so we didn't need to do anything.
We received a warm welcome on arrival. The Carthouse is a 2 bedroom barn conversion on the farm, brilliantly equipped with everything you need and a massive garden.
They were the best nights sleep I've had in ages with the sound of cows and sheep as a late morning alarm call, perfect.
When the weather was bad we headed to Newport for some Christmas shopping and when the sun shone, we hiked the hills where the scenery and views are spectacular. There are some great pub walks and we ended up at The Crown in the village, about 7 minutes walk along the road from The Carthouse (take a torch at night, provided by The Carthouse!) with an extensive menu, children and dogs welcome.
Can't tell you how great The Carthouse, Westcourt Farm and the Russell family are, go see for yourself, we highly recommend it.

After four days at Westcourt Farm, we fully endorse the enthusiastic reviews of previous guests. "Excellent" is really the only word that does justice to the location, the attractiveness of this ancient house, the room, the comfort of the bed, the splendid breakfasts, the daily cake(!), and Julie's friendliness and efficiency. We recommend it unreservedly to anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing holiday - and we also recommend the "Crown" inn for its food, beer and service.

We were on the way to Westcourt Farm when one of our bikes suffered a puncture with a few miles to go, Julie and her family not only rushed out in the car to collect us - they also pitched in to help us find the puncture, and, eventually, fixed it while we were having dinner at the pub! Besides this extraordinary kindness and generosity, they offered us an absolutely wonderful stay in this beautiful, atmospheric old farmhouse. Our room was cosy, comfortable and charming. The southern island setting is spectacular. The breakfast was great, as was the complementary tea and cake on arrival. We'll be back.

The Cart House is a beautifully converted barn with everything you need. It is spacious and well equipped, spotlessly clean, and has a large & safe walled garden, excellent for children. Julie and her family are so friendly and helpful. The home made cake and provisions on our arrival were most welcome. We have already booked two return visits for later this year ... can't wait!
