The original 15th-century character has been respected and enhanced in this beautiful accommodation. Choose between themed rooms in the main house or modern rooms in the Stable Annexe, each with an abundance of thoughtful extras. Guests enjoy the 24-hr honesty bar, cosy lounges and bright, airy conservatory. Delightfully helpful service, on-site parking, free Wi-Fi & large, sunny heritage garden add to the appeal of this historically significant property which is a short stroll from shops, restaurants, bars, the marvelous Marlowe Theatre, bus and railway stations. Lovely place to stay with a nice breakfast and grounds. We stayed in one of the converted stable areas, which was well appointed and comfortable. Slight noise from the train going closely by, but not too bad. Very close to Canterbury cathedral and the old city areas.

Property's Favourite Review
What a lovely hotel. Free private parking onsite through the old coaching inn entrance. To a surprisingly big lovely garden, patio and parking. The hotel is on a main road less than 5 minutes on the same rd to all the shops, Cathedral and Theatre. The hotel is immaculately clean, the décor is beautiful and complimentary to the historic property. It is welcoming, with very friendly helpful staff. They explain everything after checking in. The relaxing areas and honesty bar are lovely, nice to relax in after a day sightseeing. The bar is a fair price for drinks and you feel very comfortable using it whenever you like. We opted to stay in a Stable room which are private, I don't live on a road and am not used to hearing traffic when I sleep, It suited us even though the Trainline was behind. The trains go slow as the train crossing is just up the road. They don't run at night. The trains didn't wake us at all, the Seagulls woke my friend 😁 The Marlow theatre a very short walk away was great fun and night out. I would definitely stay again in this lovely Boutique hotel, the prices are reasonable.

Discovered my friend & I make good travel companions (not always the case) & she picked House of Agnes. We booked separate rooms in the (former) stables. These rooms were thoughtfully designed: comfortable & modern amenities and very clean. I did not hear neighbors on either side of me (a relief for me). I worried the nearby trains might bother me but they did not - I came to enjoy them when I did notice them. Breakfast is ordered by 6 pm the evening before & was always wonderful inside this house that is centuries older than my country. Our arrival by rail was delayed several hours due to Storm Ciaran & Steve could not have been more understanding or accommodating. Location is perfect for exploring this wonderful, historical city. My friend is a good travel companion AND an excellent selector of lodging.

We stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful time. We really appreciated the little touches like a tray by the door for shoes, and a brolly in case you need to dash to the honesty bar. Plenty of space to relax in various lounges and good breakfast selection including specials. So very close to the city walls and attractions, it is in a perfect location.

The location is great for access to the city, just outside the Westgate in St Dunstans St, close to the Canterbury West station (five minute walk). We drove and PLEASE do be careful of the narrow entrance, which you are clearly warned about. There will always be a small part of my paint at The House of Agnes. Ample parking once through the entrance. Warmest of welcomes, really helpful in getting around town and recommendations. We stayed in a Stable room which was modern and well equipped. Very comfortable bed and had all we needed. There is a fully stocked honesty bar, which is a real bar area, very comfortable, wine and beers in fridge, ice etc, all you could need at very reasonable prices (especially considering some of the prices you pay in the city). There are games there and plenty of seating, for family groups this would be a great place to relax and spend time. There is also a nice snug at the front, with TV. Also here is the replenish table, for extra tea, coffee, milk, shampoos etc. which is really useful. We were given clear help on what the room has, where things are and about breakfast, which is totally pre-order (even tea/coffee/toast etc). Breakfast was good, and we particularly liked that having a small appetite our breakfast came on smaller plates so it didn't look lost. All cooked very well and clearly freshly cooked. We would certainly recommend a stay, and if we return to Canterbury this is where we will stay. It was good value, for welcome, food and location.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff are on the ball and very welcoming, breakfast was excellent. The building has limitations because of it's age, which is part of the fun of course but also a bit frustrating. Whilst the room was quiet for the location it was a bit stuffy. But overall it's a yes from me.

What a great stay. I used to walk by this Bed&Breakfast when I was in Uni years ago. When my husband and I were looking to stay in Canterbury HofA was my prime choice. It is right off the Canterbury West station, in the shadow of Westgate and the historic canals. The room (Marrakesh Suite) was better than I imagined. 2 full rooms with a 2 bathrooms, a large (very comfy) bed, and a nice sitting room. Best was the private entrance and private patio overlooking the gorgeous gardens. Breakfast was always excellent as was the staff. Definitely made my return to Canterbury a wonderful experience. I hope to return. Thanks from the States (St Louis, MO)

We travelled to Canterbury by train and The House of Agnes was less than a 5 minute walk from canterbury West station. Our room( Boston ) was bright, comfortable and welcoming. All staff were excellent and the property has a lovely garden for sitting out in the evening. Just a short walk took us through the imposing Westgate Towers Gateway ontoSt Peters street and the Cities main attractions. Breakfast(bookable the day before) was excellent and our 3 night stay a joy.

The House of Agnes was a great place to stay! We had a 3rd-floor room; it was cozy and very comfortable. We had a warm day, so we were happy for the split-unit air conditioning. The yard behind the house was a great place to hang out and have a drink in the evening, with comfortable seating and tables. The B&B provided drinks at a reasonable price. The location was great, with a short walk to the downtown area and the cathedral. Secure parking was provided. I wish we had stayed more than one night!

The House of Agnes is a real find. Located just outside the City walls it is close to many eateries, pubs and shops. We were in th Venice room with steps down into the delightful garden. As we had warm weather we sat in the garden on returning from exploring the City. Our car was safely parked at the rear for the duration of our visit. This was a real bonus. Our room was gorgeous, clean and supplied with toiletries. There is a lovely sitting room leading in from the garden and an honesty bar too. Breakfast wss a treat, including choices of fruit, croissants and cooked items. It was a relaxing haven after a day of exploring. As with most people a visit to the Cathedral is a must and it was refreshing to see the sign welcoming you to take photographs.
