I stay here on a reasonably regular basis and am still impressed with how friendly, welcoming and professional the staff are. The breakfasts (included in the rate) are tasty and high quality, and the rooms are nothing like the production line boxes you get in corporate hotels. Each room is named (relating to the Canterbury Tales), is very comfortable and has charm and character.

It is very conveniently located in the heart of Canterbury and is perfect for seeing all the local sights, visiting the Marlowe theatre or shopping in the main pedestrian area or the lovely, quirky back streets.

Although the hotel does not have its own car park, it is directly opposite a large public car park and offers discounted parking to hotel residents.

The bar offers a good selection of lagers and ales and has a large real fire in the winter months.

The only thing to be aware of is that I don't believe it is suitable for guests who require an accessible room.

If you are looking for a great place to stay in Canterbury then look no further!

We have stayed at the Millers Arms before but when we saw the offer of dinner, bed and breakfast we decided to revisit for a 3 night stay. The Millers Arms is within close proximity to the the centre of Canterbury and stands in a lovely location. Our double room was at the front of the building overlooking the pretty river and gardens and was very comfortable as was the bed, we asked for extra pillows and this was taken care of immediately.
The bar area is very well managed with social distancing being properly observed using track and trace for the customers very efficiently by all bar staff, hand sanitisers were freely available around all the public areas.
Breakfast and dinner times need to be booked so that the eating areas are not too busy, this seemed to work really well.
This takes me very nicely into the food at The Millers Arms, it was fantastic, breakfast was everything you could want, orange juice, cereal, great pot of tea, the toast was so, so good, during our stay we had full cooked breakfast and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, loved the roast tomatoes and balsamic glaze with the smoked salmon. Over the COVID time the menu has been slightly reduced but it really works, all evening meals that we had during our stay were so tasty, hard to pick out our top choices but by far the starter of choice must be the lightly dusted crispy calamari, note to Shepherd Neame do not take this off your menu, it is too good, mains were all very good but the picanha steak and the fish and chips were stars.
The Millers is very well managed by Paul who has great staff working alongside him, need to mention Brad and Shaun who looked after us very well.

Will definitely return! All Staff from cleaners to chef were the right mix of professional efficiency and friendliness. Breakfast was included in the price of the room, but the choices were far beyond the range of full English—although we went for British “hash” (excellent) and vegetarian English, the quality of ingredients, presentation, and standard of cooking was well above most places that make breakfast a speciality. Room was clean, quiet & cosy, linens good quality, and it felt secure.

We had a lovely Overnight Stay in this Cosy Period pub .
The Hotel is in an enviable position behind the Marlowe Theatre & the Shopping Centre The hotel has an arrangement for an overnight Parking for £10 . The Car Park is opposite the Pub , the Normal rate to Park is £4.50 for 2 hours .
The Pub has many sections in which to eat in & a Cosy fire in the Bar.
Paul The Manager was extremely polite , helpful & hard working as were his Staff.
Food was excellent too.
Although we only live half an hour away , it made a lovely Break .

Easy walking distance from the cathedral and everything else the city offers. Quite small but adequate bedroom overlooking the river. Noise from the rushing water might be a problem in certain rooms but we found it pleasant. Usual Shepherd Neame beers but well kept. Only had breakfast but what a breakfast. Superb British Hash. Room price fair considering the pub's location and the fact that Canterbury is one of the 'must see' places for people from all over the world. The 'temporary residents' deal for the car park (£8) saves a lot of money.

Stayed for three nights in August for a family wedding nearby. My two sons and their wives also stayed for two nights. We stayed in "Merchants on the top floor which was comfortable, not large but Ok for us. The room was clean, the beds and pillows very comfortable, and a reasonable sized bathroom with an over-bath shower. Given the temperature outside the hotel had thoughtfully provided a fan which kept the air flow circulating and meant the room was cool. Great view over the river just across the road although the noise from the mill race is quite loud. There is a kettle in the room plus plenty of choice of teas, coffee and biscuits. There is no lift so if you have mobility issues this would be a challenge, but it was fine for us.
One of my sons had the "feature" room which was quite large and well appointed, and the other son had a double at the back of the hotel which again was very comfortable. Rooms at the back do get to hear the cathedral bells!
Car parking is easy and opposite the hotel. Park first and then ask the hotel to add the charge to the bill which works well.
Hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Marlowe theatre and about 10 minutes from the cathedral. It is an ideal position from which to explore Canterbury.
Breakfasts were excellent with a vegan and vegetarian option; I recommend the eggs royal. We stayed in to eat on the Friday night and had a lovely meal, at sensible prices.
Every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful and when we did have a minor problem it was sorted without fuss or question. Service at breakfast, dinner and in the bar was always quick, efficient and with a smile.
This is a pub with rooms and restaurant, not a hotel and I would choose it again in preference to any "chain hotel".
great value for money. I recommend a stay here.

We stayed in early October, the last hot weekend of a long summer, in Miller's, a Feature Double.

The bed was huge and comfortable and the room well equipped. The bathroom was okay, but not somewhere I would want to linger for a soak in the bath. A shower with a curtain over a freestanding bath doesn't really work. If there isn't room for a separate shower then personally I would prefer a standard bath with a shower screen.

That is the only negative for me. There is a public car park opposite the pub and they do a reduced rate via the council website. The pub is close enough to leave the car and walk into the city along the river, but far enough out that it's not noisy at night.

All the staff we saw were great, from the young woman who checked us in to the two different staff who served at breakfast each day.

We ate at the pub on the Friday night and had a good meal. On Saturday we walked into the city and were able to have a meal with a drink, and walk back to the pub.

If I were to visit Canterbury again I would definitely come back to the Miller's Arms.

We stayed overnight on a Winterstay offer, £150 for bed, breakfast and 3 course evening meal. We have stayed at The Millers Arms on numerous ocassions and always enjoyed the location as it is just a gentle stroll into Canterbury with its history, shopping area, bars and restaurants. On arrival we asked to change rooms as we were allocated quite a cramped room, staff in reception were amazing and patient while we were shown several rooms until we were happy. The rooms are looking quite tired and would certainly benefit from some attention but were comfortable during stay. All meals were of a good quality and enjoyable, staff were very attentive during our stay.

We had a great stay here. The location is lovely - close to the shops and cathedral but overlooking the river. It is a great base for exploring. There is a large car park opposite with a £12 fee for each 24 hours that you stay. Staff at the inn are able to take payment for this when you arrive without any stress or hassle. The room was super with a comfortable bed, extra pillows, a good shower and a bath. There was a good choice of food for breakfast which is served between 8 and 10. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the whole place has a relaxed and friendly feel. We would recommend The Millers Arms for anyone who wants a comfortable, friendly base from which to explore.

Sorry for the late reply , yes there is a public car park just across the road about 30 seconds walk If you ask inside the pub you will get cheaper parking if you are staying there I think it was about £6 for 24 hours Hope this helps
