We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Canterbury, either for an overnight stay, or for a longer period. It is located in the centre of the city, which makes everything within easy walking distance, and especially if like us, visitors are attending The Marlowe Theatre, which is literally 2-minutes walk from the hotel. The Abode is in an interesting and really old building, but has modern facilities and everything that today's guests require and expect and the owners have clearly made the best of what the building and its features offer. The rooms and facilities are first-class and the staff are friendly, efficient and professional. Well recommended!
This is a great hotel, very friendly and great choices on the menus. Brilliant location to explore the city with parking available for those visiting from out of town. The early start on breakfast was extremely useful to allow me to get to work on time.
We decided to visit Canterbury for my boyfriend's birthday. It was just a weekend so we didn't want to spend a huge amount. Initially, we were attracted by the convenient location and the good price. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were instantly made to feel welcome thanks to an incredibly warm greeting. When we went to our room, we couldn't believe just how beautiful it was - the room was comfy and incredibly spacious with a clean and large bathroom. Overally, a brilliant and high quality stay without the huge price tag.
Hotel is in a great location with excellent rooms and facilities. The staff were all very friendly, but the service was slow across the board from check in to bar to restaurant. Nevertheless a stay is thoroughly recommended.
We loved the location of The Abode Canterbury. The hotel was in the perfect spot to walk to everything we wanted to do in town. The front dest staff was so friendly and helpful. They made reservations for us at a wonderful restaurant last minute, they gave directions and advice about taxi's. Breakfast was delicious and there were a great variety of options. The wait staff and tavern staff were also friendly, efficient and kind. Our only disappointment was that there were only 13 parking spots for 72 rooms. Expect to have to park in the car park that is a 7 minute walk away. Even with that, I would still stay here again. Our room was clean and charming and in the perfect location, right in the middle of town.
