Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Reliable clean hotel in a central location. Window did not open and it was difficult to control room temperature. Room was clean and nicely appointed. Smell.of water softener on sheers etc was a little overwhelming. Some noise from.delivery vans in the morning.Cooked breakfast was a little basic but okay.

Hotel's Favourite
Really great hotel, 2 minutes walk from the cathedral. Lovely clean room, really good shower and everything was perfect during our 3 night stay. Best of all are the staff, not only friendly and attentive, but also very happy in their work, laughing and joking with each other, and supporting each other in all areas. Well done to the manager, the teamwork and morale is amazing! My wife was sick one day and they were genuinely very concerned and attentive to her and gave us a late checkout without question. The breakfast was also excellent, and the only very small piece of advice I would give would be to improve the fresh fruit selection a little. Otherwise, couldn't fault anything!

I have enjoyed the Hampton in Canterbury, a basic but comfortable hotel. Room cleanliness was exceptional. Staff are all really friendly especially Ali who served me every evening at the bar with a smile and a nice bit of chat. Location for bars and restaurants and shops is hard to beat, so next time I’m here on business this hotel will be my first choice

Spent a weekend in Canterbury with my wife and chose this hotel as it looked a cut above the more budget-friendly options. The location is fantastic for exploring Canterbury on foot - it's literally in the town centre. Beware it's on a pedestrianised street so you can't pull a car up outside to drop off bags. This needs explaining more clearly - do not put their address in the satnav like we did - head straight the the Whitefriars car park. It's a few minutes walk from the hotel so be prepared to lug all your bags from the car park and through town to the hotel (no issue if travelling light to be fair). The lobby is modern, light and welcoming, and the greeting was very pleasant from reception. The room itself (room 220) was fairly basic but clean with a good quality shower room (and great shower). The only issue was the bed - I appreciate we all have personal preferences but the mattress was ridiculously hard and extremely uncomfortable. We spoke to reception who told us there may be rooms with softer beds but they didn't know which as only the maintenance team knew and they'd gone home for the day. We had a topper fitted to the bed which helped a little but nowhere near enough to make it comfortable. A very broken nights sleep followed. A room move was still not forthcoming so on the 2nd night we actually made up the sofa bed in the room! Crazy to think we were paying £170 to sleep on a sofa bed for the night! We raised this again at checkout (the receptionist did imply we weren't the first people to have this problem). We were given a 10% discount on our room tariffs which on reflection didn't feel adequate given our poorly we'd slept. No complaints with breakfast. Not a huge choice if you're intent on eating a cooked buffet style breakfast but the DIY waffle station was a bit of fun and we used it both mornings. All in all it was just so disappointing to leave thinking that we could have had two superior nights sleep at the local Premier Inn at half the price.

We stayed 2nights at this lovely hotel as part of a group on a coach tour. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is stylish, light and airy. It is within easy access to Canterbury's attractions. The hotel felt very safe and you had to use your room card to use lifts and stairs. There was an additional security latch on the bedroom door. The staff were very friendly and there was a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The rooms have an iron hair dryer and good quality towels and toiletries. The food was good. We would stay here again.

This hotel was just brilliant. Centrally located, on the level for walking, and close to the Cathedral, tourist sites and pubs/restaurants you couldn't ask for more. Staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. You also get a discount on parking if you use the Whitefriars car park which is part of the local shopping mall. Breakfast was varied and was nicely presented on all 3 mornings and the breakfast area is light and welcoming. The rooms were nicely decorated and although we didn't have much of a view, it was quiet and well appointed, For what they charge, this place is a bargain

We had an AMAZING stay back in December. The staff are absolutely incredible! Louise on the bar was so kind and helpful. Louise on reception was so patient with our big family check in. Maisie was super helpful with her detailed emails and advice on parking and helping us with rooms together. Breakfast was lovely, rooms were clean & we just had the most perfect stay. Thank you

We were so pleasantly surprised by this reasonably priced city centre hotel, which is literally steps from the high street. The main hotel areas are spotless and comfortable... and smell incredible! Our twin room was perfect for our needs, with extra wide single beds and a lovely en suite shower room stocked with everything you might need. The inclusive breakfast was generous and excellent, and the staff were lovely. I will look out for this chain wherever I travel in the UK from now on.
