Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Needed to stay one night at the university and this was perfect. Really clean room, very quiet and good breakfast. I stayed top/3rd floor of Keynes. I do work at the university but this a genuine review.

We took a room as part of the Unis holiday accomm offer. Takes a while to discover where the facilities that accommodation guests can use are located. We discovered a cafe serving decent food till 8:30pm on campus. In the morning you find the most impressive breakfast refectory hall with its straight line view of the distant cathedral. Also to be discovered in the evening is the 30 min brisk walk into via back paths and residential streets to Canterbury city centre.

I wasn't expecting much as this is basic student accommodation. The room was clean and comfortable enough, although sparsely decorated. There was one toilet shared between the 8 rooms which didn't flush very well. The floor in the corner behind the door, and the grill in the door had years of dust built up which was a little off putting. The breakfast had a good selection. Seating was difficult as every table had a reserved sign for the many groups that we're staying. We gave up looking in the end and plonked ourselves on the end of a table and hoped they didn't turn up! The college surrounding are very pretty and the grounds well kept. The price of 2 single rooms was the same as a twin in a good hotel down the road, so although the stay was pretty much what we were expecting, I don't think I'd rush to go back.

My room was very spacious and extremely good value, especially when you take into account the huge breakfast you could eat. Everyone was friendly, parking free and the walk into and out of the city centre fairly pleasant and direct. I knew when booking that the facilities were shared and I never had any issues getting access to the toilet, but I did not like the lack of sinks. There was not one in the toilet rooms, my room, or shower rooms. There was one in the kitchen, but someone was cooking once when I needed to use it. A cupboard with a mop in did also have a sink, but you had to lean over the mop bucket to use it. I don't know about you, but I like to wash my hands!

Bzw waren

Easy to find, put in Darwin Road in your satnav and it takes you straight to the Rutherford car park. Free parking during the weekend and free parking permit from reception during the week. Checked in within a min, was given printed directions to the room. This must have been a direct result of complaints that it was tough to navigate the college. As an alumni, it was comforting but sad to see not much has changed in the past 15 years. Doesn't seem like much investment has gone into updating the halls of residence. In saying that, the single room (E4E2) was a decent size, which had a view over the uni grounds and into Canterbury town centre. One bath and one hand towel provided, with a bar of soap and small bottle of shower gel. Plenty of tea bags/ coffee/ hot choc powder in room, with kettle and cup. Tonnes of storage space and spare pillow in the wardrobe. Sink in the room. Everything was clean, albeit dated. Small shower room right outside the room with plenty of hot water. There is a slightly bigger disabled shower at the other end. Separate toilet (no sink, must wash hands back in the room). Small kitchen area with fridge and microwave, but no cookware available. The campus was fairly quiet with sporadic activity from students moving back on site early. 25 mins walk into town using the well trodden cycle route (starts opposite the uni bus stop, outside Keynes college). Buses 4 or 6 will take you to and from the town centre for GBP 1.70 one way. Breakfast was plentiful and decent quality. See my many pics. Check out at 10am, it's a case of giving back the keys. That's it! On Sunday I drove down to attend the 11am service at Canterbury Cathedral (free entry if you're only attending the service). Free parking outside of Mon~Fri 8am ~6:30pm on Monastery Street north. Get there early, at 10am there was only one free space left out of a dozen. Beware of other pay and display bays where charges apply at all times at the south end. 7mins walk to the cathedral's visitor's entrance.

You know what you are getting into when booking University Halls of Residence accommodation, i.e. it is a bit Spartan. However, this is great if that is what you are after; I had a happy stay here and will very happily return. The room is basic with shared facilities, but it is all extremely clean, the campus is attractive, the corridors in my experience were quiet and the showers etc always available. Breakfast is certainly plentiful, though expect no gourmet experiences. However, a really fun base from which to explore the Kent coast - a plus is that there are good walking and cycling opportunities right outside the accommodation..... Reception staff are very helpful, there is excellent free Wifi and free parking. As long as you are happy with a basic room and shared facilities, what's not to like??

I stayed here as I had a car, and wanted a place with parking. The dining room looks over the Canterbury Cathedral. The b and b breakfast was nice - however, when I asked about a lift to get my luggage back up to the top level when I was leaving, I was informed by one of the kitchen staff that it wasn't a hotel. No kidding, that had escaped me. Of course I knew that. However, I presume being a college, they might have catered for those in wheelchairs - ie would have a lift. It would be good to ask about how to get your luggage to other floors via lifts. I requested and was given a really quiet room. I didn't seen anyone else on my floor/wing, although I know there were others there. There was a little kitchenette - but you need your own cutlery and plate. The room was spacious and mine had a little hand basin, which was nice. The toilet and shower are separate and very dated. But it is cheap, so be kind. The porters are really helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

The college is only open as an hotel during Easter and Summer recesses, but they offer B&B facilities that are very competitvely priced. I had a single room with shared bathroom, but the rooms do not have handbasins. There is a single toilet and two shower units between about 6 rooms and I was always able to use the facilities when needed. Very clean place and staff are very helpful at Reception. Towels and soap are provided. Being a university there are always others around to ask if you need help. Breakfast was great and just what you would expect for a 'Full English' with plenty to eat and well presented. B&B guests are to one side of the main dining hall and have their own servery. The location is perfect and the grounds are very nice to wander round. On a nice day you can walk down into Canterbury in about 20 mins. Top Tip! Take your bike if you can. The college is at the top of a hill and the run down into Canterbury is nearly all on purpose built pathways. The ride back is more energitic and I struggled a bit on my small folding bike, but you can always have a shower when you get back. Would I stay there again? YES!
