Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had a very comfortable stay in this hotel.
It's recently been refurbished and was very clean and fresh. The bar/breakfast room/restaurant was modern with USB charging points at the tables. A great little spot for a coffee/drink.
Very central and good value.
Staff were very helpful.

Whilst it's a listed building, it's now very aged in terms of maintenance and basic things. Dripping taps and shower, clicking radiators, can hear other guests like they're in your room, even a sneeze or a cough. Doors too small so light comes in from the hallway, so never fully dark. Bed was so uncomfortable, noisy and so soft that one would move and the other would nearly topple out. Location is now quite run down, the entrance into the town centre is paved with homeless tents sadly. Could feel quite unsafe alone.
Not the Canterbury experience we remembered.

Fantastic location in an old building which has kept some of the original features. This hotel is very well located for the town centre and the cathedral. We stayed at a weekend and did not experience any noise externally. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Parking was no problem for us and worked out very reasonable at £6 for 24 hours.

The hotel is in a very good location, walking distance from everything you want. It was very useful to have the car park outside and this is a very reasonable price compared to public car parks. The staff were very helpful and provided a very good level of service. The breakfast option was very good value, hot and more than enough choice. Overall very happy with our choice of hotel and the value for money.

The location of this hotel was perfect for what we wanted to do during our stay this weekend, the staff were friendly and the room was gorgeous.
However, the stay was completely overshadowed by our quality of sleep.
I slept horrendously at this hotel due to constant interruptions by people returning from their nights out in town. Our room was right next to the main entrance of the hotel (the only area available to smoke) so I was woken up at 2am (plus multiple times during the night) by people chatting very loudly and smoking.
The room was lovely and the location is perfect if never been to Canterbury before. It is such a shame about the amount of noise during the night, maybe just avoid staying on a Saturday night?

The Hotel is cozy and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, savoury and sweet options are available and remained hot even for those that took the late breakfast, like myself. The room was clean and it was extremely quiet.

Me and my father had a very friendly and pleasant stay at this hotel.

The receptionists showed great hospitality during our stay.

The breakfast was great and there was plenty of everything. A staff member was kind enough to run through the selection of breakfast items, and at about 10/15 mins to 10am, they gave me a little warning that they would be clearing up soon.

Overall, we had a good night sleep, enjoyed the convenience of the town centre, and had a memorable stay at Travelodge Canterbury Chaucer Central.

Very good location and friendly staff… however parking is an issue. We were told to pay for the 2 days we were there but if we went out for the day and could not get a spot on the carpark then we would have to pay somewhere else so really should be told to do a day at a time. One chair in room so had to sit on the bed to eat any food as the restaurant was closed. 1st night went for a drink in bar and no draught beer and limited bottle beer. 2nd night it was closed altogether which wasn’t good as been out all day and wanted a night cap before going to bed. Also it was a very noisy hotel we could hear everybody walking around and talking.

Very friendly and pleasant staff. The hotel had a makeover so was very smart, clean and tidy. The hotel is only minutes away from the high street and cathedral. The breakfast was good, but busy at certain times of the day, a good offering from continental and cooked breakfast
