I would highly recommend The White House if you are visiting Canterbury. Its location is perfect, in a quiet street but less than a minutes walk into the city centre. The gorgeous regency building and beautifully decorated interior make this more of a boutique hotel than a guest house, but the prices are still very reasonable. The proprietor is a...

This is a wonderfully decorated B&B right around the corner from Canterbury's main street full of shops, bars, pubs and restaurants. The welcome from Adrian was lovely and the room was beautiful. Large, everything you need and quiet, with a nice view out of the window. I'd recommend The White House to anyone who wants to be central in a...

I reserved the room by telphone from Madrid, as I was taking my son to University, Adrian seemed really nice over the phone. On the day of arrival everything went wrong. There was a delay in our fight it took forever to get to Canterbury due to heavy traffic, there were huge queues in the university and it was pouring down...

The Snug Double we stayed was small in size but still very comfortable. The location is excellent. It is in the heart of the city where there are many restaurants and bars nearby but still very quite as the White House is located in a small lane. Adrian is super helpful with everything. Decoration is tastefully done. Breakfast is delicious....

We have stayed in The White House on two occasions. Both times we have been impressed by the comfort of the rooms (especially the lovely big bath!) and the welcome of the owner Adrian. A warm welcome, even after we telephoned 4 times after getting lost! and nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic location, just off of the high street...

My wife and I stayed here back in 2013 on the night before and night of our wedding. We hired out the entire house for us and a few guests and no-one was disappointed. The house is immaculate and beautifully decorated throughout. The staff/owners were brilliant, friendly, easy going and very accommodating for our needs. It's in the heart of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you enjoy staying in stylish accommodation, with all those extra little personal touches that make you feel special as a guest, then welcome to The White House. The property is an elegant Grade II listed Regency Town House, originally reputed to have been the retirement home of Queen Victoria's Head Coachman and built in 1825. Our 4 Star Highly Commended accommodation is especially suited to discerning guests seeking a small intimate property (regrettably we do not cater for children) and its ideal location, within the City walls, is an added bonus for those who enjoy soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of a University city and who appreciate good old fashioned personal service to the impersonality of national hotel chains. Rooms are furnished to ensure maximum guest comfort - large cosy beds to fall into after a hard days sightseeing, soft pillows, with cool contemporary white linens and quality furnishings to ensure a real 'home from home'. A few minutes walk (literally!) will take you right into the main High Street, so we are perfectly situated to browse all the best shops, restaurants and of course a 'must see' visit to the Cathedral and perhaps take in a show at the stunning new Marlowe Theatre.Parking couldn't be easier - across the road in the Pound Lane Car Park - with concessionary vouchers available to our guests at £6.00 for 24 hours ... more   less
