Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a lovely stay away following a meal at The Pumproom. The room was lovely and well kept. Coffee making items and toiletries were delivered on request having been sanitised. Breakfast was just the ticket and the view across the marina was nice in the sun. The hallways are slightly tired but rooms and restaurant top notch for price bracket.

After viewing a property on St Mary's Island, decided to have lunch at the Ship and Trades. It was unlockdown day but they still had covid measures in place customers and some staff didnt have masks and everyone seemed ok with it. Shown to a table which was near a door and the door was open which was great as it was very hot. Quite a few customers food coming out looked good. Drinks received food ordered had a 20 minute wait.
My wife ordered beer battered cod with fries and peas. She said it was ok, batter was crispy, the cod was not bright white and only had small flakes. 3/5.
I ordered the Poke Bowl with pan fried chicken (in my opinion the chicken was pre cooked then ripped in pieces then pan fried to give extra colour) the chicken was stringy and dry. Pickled red cabbage tasty but was not crunchy, sesame seaweed moist and tasty, kale tough and not nice (should only be used in smoothies), radish, avocado, carrots next to worst of the bunch large thick strips not sweet and orange , tenderstem broccoli good and fresh, roasted butternut squash bland, toasted pumpkin seeds, warm basmati rice big warm lump not seperated , topped with a teriyaki & wasabi dressing bit of warmth from the wasabi, the dish could of done with more sauce.2.5/5. Decided to not have desert will be back in the near future. Service was very good very professional. 4/5.

Stayed here for 4 nights , we were welcomed by a friendly girl on reception and we were allowed to enter room early. The room was clean with a nice bathroom. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the first night, the staff were excellent and very attentive, however we were both very disappointed in the food. My partner had fish and chips , the fish was very greasy and was more batter than fish, I had chicken which was very dry and not edible. Breakfast was included in the price of the room, again was disappointed with the breakfast. The food is the only thing that lets this hotel down, the room and the service throughout the hotel was very good.

Room very clean and spacious. Staff very attentive. Good COVID measures in place - tea tray arrived wrapped in cling film, staff didn’t touch drinks. Felt very safe on my first post COVID hotel stay. Public car park in front of hotel, need to register with hotel. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast with very wide choice. Exceptional value for money.

Waited 45 minutes for 2 starters, while staff were all walking around the restaurant chewing left overs from the Sunday lunch service.

When the food did arrive one of the dishes was Stone cold in the middle. After speaking to the deputy manager who seemed more concerned with the location of the kitchen than listening to our issue we decided that an hour of our time for some mediocre squid wasn't really worth it so paid and left.

It's a shame as we have been before and found the service was great.

We were very keen and regular customers of the Ship and Trades eating there almost every Friday. We fully understand the difficulties of the lock-down because of the pandemic but they have gone a bit OTT with their rules since re-opening.

To explain: I realise that there has been a reduction in the amount of tables and therefore customers that they can handle at any one time so they instigated a time limit that you can sit at a table. This enables more covers to be served during a day of course. What it also means is that what was a very pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable evening is now turned into a Ben and Jerry's race: Come in, give us your money and then get out. You can eat if you want, but hurry up!

It's very, very sad that this should have happened. I loved going to the Ship and Trades. We have found an alternative now so that is the very sad end of a lovely experience.

Stayed for three nights this week and cannot emphasise enough just how good the whole experience was. The room (number 15) had a beautiful view over the Marina and was an extremely good size. The room decoration was tasteful and very much in sync with the nautical atmosphere. Bathroom was large.
There were other local opportunities but we eat at the hotel on all three nights as the food on the first night was so good.
Drinks are very reasonably priced and there is an excellent selection of food on the menu.
Great bar area and extensive outside seating available
The staff were excellent, helpful, attentive without being overbearing, friendly without trying to be your best friend. They hit the perfect balance
In the nicest possible way our three nights seemed much longer and I drove away from the hotel feeling very refreshed and knowing full well that I will definitely return.
Thank you to everybody at the hotel for making this short break so amazing

Beautiful wine and beautiful food! We had loaded chips for starter which were divine 😍

We then all had steak, a cut we’ve never tried before and it was gorgeous! Such great value for money too think it was around £14 each for the steak 😍

My steak initially was over cooked and when I told the server she was lovely, apologised and it was no problem to cook me a new steak.

Dessert was warm brownie, clotted cream and cherry compote! Huge portion enough to share!

We had plenty of time to enjoy our food and weren’t rushed along which some places you can be.

The wine was amazing I would love to know where I can buy this wine from as I can’t find it anywhere online! Such great value for money, lovely decor, beautiful being right out by the water and a lovely atmosphere inside. We can’t wait to go back ❤️

Fabulous spot by the marina in Chatham! Really friendly service. Great nautical themed rooms with big bath tub and good quality bed and bedding. Really friendly staff and service. Plenty of free parking. Gorgeous views. Included breakfast was luxurious including eggs benedict, pancakes with fruit and avocado on toast, very impressive! Lovely bar and resteraunt and close to historic dockyard. In addition they did not discriminate about my disability.

The ADF (three friends who share a common interest in churchyards, marshes and sausages in flasks) after a walk over on the Isle of Grain. It was the lunchtime before Lockdown 2. A vegan burger, burger and poke salad were all delicious and the staff were all so friendly, helpful and easy to get along with. We’d definitely go back. If this whole luncheon experience were a long, dry stone wall, there wouldn’t be a chink in sight. Highly recommended.
