This B & B was an annual stay for my parents & I from the early 1970's. I brought my kids along to the same place during the 90's & early 2000's. Great & happy memories of this place I had. I returned with my daughter, June, 2021 after an 18/20 year absence, wondering how things had changed & would it be as good a place as I remembered? No need to worry! Di & Barry, who run the guest house, were very welcoming & interested in my history with the place. Of course the house has been extensively modernised since my last visit, but maintained its homely atmosphere. We had to abide by the current covid rules, quite understandably, which did not cause any problem. The room was nicely decorated, comfortable & spotlessly clean, with tea making facilities & a complementary bottle of water each day. The breakfast was great too! A great place to base yourself, A 2/3 minute drive to the ferry port & a 5/10 minute walk into the town centre where there's a great little micro pub, The Hoptimist, run by a friendly chap called Danny, who will make you very welcome. A great Turkish restaurant 'Aspendos' is not far away, that serves amazing food with amazing portions, fabulous. Folkstone's 10 miles away & the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway is just a few miles further on which is well worth a visit for a trip across Romney Marsh to Dungeness. Canterbury is only about 15 miles away too. Thank you for a really memorable stay & for rekindling many happy memories from the past. Hopefully I will be back in less that 18 years!!

That's really so kind of you! It was so interesting hearing the history of our B&B since it's origin in the late 60's! Having run the Maison Dieu for 18 years, it's lovely to welcome back visitors from years gone by - and we look forward to maybe welcoming you again some day. Thank you for staying with us, and for your kind review - we do so love our B&B!.

We had a perfect weekend at Maison Dieu. We so appreciated the lovely, warm hospitality of Di and Barry. Tastefully decorated rooms with all the creature comforts of home, and a delicious home cooked breakfast. Highly recommend - Thankyou!

Great guesthouse to stay, Hayley and Deborah were absolutely lovely and super accommodating when we asked to drop off our luggage before check in time. The room was comfy and really lovely, with an ensuite which is what we were looking for. The house is really well maintained and looked after, great location and lovely staff.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious and amazing portions too. Would have been nice to know in advance that there were going to be so many stairs to go up/down (we were in the top level - 2nd), but we managed without any issues at all.
Can’t beat their prices, book directly with them to get the best rates. Don’t hesitate and book this B&B for your stay!

We used to stay at Mason Dieu quite often when visiting family in Dover pre-lockdown, but this was our first visit in three years. We knew that it had changed owners. Sandra gave us a warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble and our room had everything we needed. Breakfast was superb - couldn’t fault it. We’ll definitely be back!

A really nice place to stay. My girlfriend and I spent the night and loved it, Room and bed were very comfortable and the breakfast was great too. We were well looked after by Di and Barry and will definitely look to stay there again soon. Had a great view of Dover Castle out of the bedroom window. J

How amazing are those hosts. Unfortunately on our way to Dover the B&B was already fully booked, but on our way back home we were lucky to got a place. Great recommandations, the best sleep we had on our 7 days road trip. Everything was great, breakfast yes! 5 stars, but I would give 10

Poor accommodation. Booking made in April and confirmation email confirming a twin room was not available on our arrival and we were told no other rooms available. So my husband ended up sleeping on an adult bunk bed. When we left in the morning no sign of owner.

Barry & I work very hard to ensure the comfort of our guests which is paramount – however, on this occasion I had made a mistake. I had booked the couple into an Ensuite Double/Family room rather than an Ensuite Twin as the lady had requested. By 9.30 pm when she and her husband arrived all our other guests had checked in and so I was unable to rectify the error. We were both totally dismayed that this had happened but could only offer a sincere apology for what was a genuine mistake – this was not accepted by the lady. Having booked ‘room only’ because they had an early ferry – the lady and her husband left whilst we were downstairs preparing breakfasts for our other guests. This had never happened before – and I have adapted our bookings system to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Barry and Diane welcomes us into their B&B for a couple of nights in late October. Our room, a cozy room with two twin beds was just right for me and my adult son. The private bath is just across the hall and the bedroom has a washbasin, too. Make your selection for breakfast the night before and choose the time you want to eat between 7:30 and 8:45. We had an early ferry on our last day, and they opened up the dining room a few minutes early to help us make the ferry on time. It’s an easy walk to various eating establishments and other attractions. They have several parking spaces right out front, too. The other rooms were booked with guests, but was quite peaceful and quiet at night.

Absolutely shocking, we were treated like intruders!!! I booked for a night whilst I was passing through for a family gathering in France. The owner or host I guess didn't allow us to stay at the B&B / hotel because we had our 3 year old soon with us and they weren't allowed due to their license apparently..... If any one can believe that!!! Which was extremely difficult as we had been driving for 7 hours from the other site of the country. Definitely would not recommend this B&B!

What a great pity it is that this gentleman during our t/p conversation, rejected the option of a treble room (presumably on cost) and declined to mention his child! His on-line reservation of the Budget Twin for 2 people whilst travelling with a lively 3 years old was I'm afraid, inappropriate for the needs of the family. At my request, a colleague very kindly provided a family room at a discounted rate and I ensured that the charge for our accommodation was wavered by the booking agency. Within 10 minutes the family were settled and comfortable - we actually did all we could to help. To clarify, we are a 4 Star Guest Accommodation accredited by AA Hotel Services, as such we are governed by many and various regulations re Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, Waste Disposal, Card Services Security, Mobility/Access Regulations etc., etc. – all these and more, form part of a complex Insurance Policy required to operate such a business. We are therefore not permitted to ‘over occupy’ our guest accommodation – but more than this, it is for the comfort of ALL our house guests that we do not do so.
