Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a wonderful weekend stay here. The house is centrally located; about a 15 min walk from Dover Priory station, and closer to the sites, pubs, and restaurants we wanted to visit. The Clementine King room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and charming. Alex was a wonderful host. He was friendly and thorough when we checked in, and was very responsive over WhatsApp for any questions.

Perfect two night stay pre cruise-perfect accommdation Clementine King with private bathroom with lovely decor. Delicious breakfast by Alex. Alex booked taxi for transport to cruise terminal tip included 12 lbs. We walked to/from Dover Castle had a really wonderful day then beers at the White Horse right across the street(they ran out of food prebook). Dover was an easy walk about city. Beautiful Private Highly recommend we much preferred Churchill Guest House over a hotel stay. Owner Alex excellent host can not rate him high enough.

The perfect pre-cruise departure historic guest house stay. Alex and his wife were fantastic. Communication from initial booking to pre arrival instructions to local food/drink/attraction info was incredible. Alex also arranged our transportation from the castle to the cruise ship and even stored out luggage. Above and beyond sums it up. We also recommend the breakfast. It was great and very well-priced.

Cannot say enough good things about the Churchill House and it family of owners. We had tried for three years to stay here (COVID issues) and finally made it on our third try. We stayed for three nights before a cruise and lived every minute of our stay. We were treated like family and our every need was cared for in a friendly professional manner. Breakfasts were wonderful and served around a “family” table so you had the pleasure of meeting the proprietors and other guests. Our room (the Victoria) was very comfortable and well furnished and even has a little private gazebo/patio of sorts we enjoyed. The location is excellent as you can walk almost anywhere you want to go from the property. We mainly dealt with Alex who is so very kind and thoughtful. An excellent owner who seems to genuinely care for both his property and his guests. It just feels like you are home when you stay with Alex at the Churchill Guest House in Dover.

We reached the Churchill Guest House by the port in 15 minutes walking but by taxi it takes only 5 minutes. In less than 5 minutes you can reach the city center. The building is a restored Georgian house, lovely. We had the opportunity to stay in two of their rooms, and I have to say both were astonishing, with a great attention to details. Delightfully furnished, we had all the accessories we needed, and more! Bottles of water, kettle, tea & Co, biscuits, bathrobe, extra towels, wadding, wet wipes, etc. Bed and pillows (more than one each person) were really comfortable. Both the rooms were spacious with sofa or armchairs to have some rest. Alex, the owner, is super organized and he gave us more than one suggestion about restaurants and means of transport. The breakfast has to be ordered the evening before, there is a varied choice of sweet and savory food. I’m celiac so they gave me some slices of gluten free bread. Alex’s parents make the breakfast atmosphere even warmer, it has been a real pleasure to chat with them. We couldn’t find a fault, everything was absolutely perfect.

There are places which are nice to stay at when you go somewhere. But Churchil Guest House is so good, you want to make an excuse to go to Dover just to be able to stay there! Luckily, Dover Castle and the incredible beautiful White Cliffs are within walking distance - especially the cliffs are highly recommended! Alex is an incredible helpful and friendly host which helped me with sights, tips and wayfinding. When I arrived I was shown around at the guest house which is a Grade II listed Georgian period townhouse built in 1834 with very beautiful and well maintained interior. All the rooms have names: I stayed in Chartwell; a really nice, spatious single bed room with its own balcony and good view. There is free milk in the fridge, and Alex has made a really good guestbook with tips and advices on everything. The breakfast is another story. It's served in the hosts own residence one minute away and the day before you order what you would like. Churchill Guest House won a Breakfast Award in 2015 and not without reason. It was very delicious! The breakfast is a social experience as well with two serving times, and you eat and have a chat with other guests who want to eat at the same time. Very nice! I would love to come back. I don't remember the last time I've stayed at such a perfect place. Thank you so much!

Alex friendly and helpful as he was on last visit. Both rooms I've stayed in beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Prices very reasonable and Churchill Guest House in a great location just beneath the castle. Breakfast delicious and varied. Can't think of anything to improve on and hope to visit for a 3rd time.

Possibility the most unexpectedly wonderful and intelligently run B&B’s I’ve ever encountered. Old school charm combined with modern technology. Great breakfasts, and amiable and helpful hosts too. (I’d forgotten my passport and Alex was kind enough to accept the courier delivery.) Furnishings are good quality beds, higher quality art works than you might anticipate, and most importantly a warm welcome. Great home from home. Exactly as you’d hope a high end B&B might be.
