The Dover Central (Eastern Ferry Terminal) Hotel is commended for its prime location near the ferry terminal and the cleanliness of its rooms, with many guests enjoying the views. However, some travelers have called out the lack of air conditioning and fridges, leading to discomfort during warmer periods. While the hotel boasts a comfortable atmosphere, it receives mixed reviews regarding room sizes, noise levels, and the datedness of some decor. Service quality varies, with reports of both friendliness and unhelpfulness, and guests are divided on the hotel's value for money.

Stopped here on the 13th of Feb before our early ferry on the 14th. Check in at 3 was smooth and we arranged our pre booked breakfast for 1st thing.

Got to the room with had plenty of space was clean.

Room had tea and coffee facilities and there was more in reception if needed (we did). Beds were comfy, surprisingly. We all got a good night sleep until 5am when the elephant upstairs was trying to get his steps in with his cement slippers but that’s not the hotels fault. Thank fully out alarm was set for 6am.

Breakfast was basic but delicious but rushed because we had an early ferry.

We enjoyed the hotel that much on our ferry out we booked it for the return leg. Had an amazing nights sleep last night on the 3rd floor. We took time with breakfast this morning and all enjoyed it.

Now heading home and if I need the ferry again, we will be back. :-)

Our stay was for 3 nights and we absolutely loved our stay here at this Premier Inn in Dover which overlooks the English Channel and the Port of Dover.

The location is perfect. Beautiful 180° views of either the English Channel and the port or the beautiful white cliffs depending where you facing. Just behind the hotel is a cliff on top of which is the infamous and oldest Dover Castle. The views from top of the cliff is breathtaking. During our stay we were lucky to get tickets to the Castle at half price when bought on the day (Friday) at the entrance.

The location is also perfect as it is 5 minutes walking distance away from the St James shopping centre which had everything we would need on a family holiday, from good food chains to supermarkets like M&S Food and Poundland for essentials. Also walking distance from the famous "Wheelers" (Fish and Chips restaurant) by Marco Pierre White. The lunch menu at "Wheelers" is what we enjoyed the most on 2 days out of 4 that we stayed at Dover. The lunch menu includes either a nice piece of Cod or 2 x Fish cakes and comes with thick cut chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and a nice cuppa Yorkshire tea for a tenner (£10). Many more amazing restaurants and kiosks along the coast for snacks and refreshments.

Coming to the staff, they were so helpful, accommodating, welcoming and friendly. They always went above and beyond to complete any request we had for them towards the room or asking for extra help since we had 2 small kids with us too. They always did it with a smile. Thats always so good to see. The names that come to mind are Kayden and Matt from reception who we thought did an exceptional job during our entire stay and whom we troubled the most I guess.

The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The cleaning staff wear masks and clean the rooms as well and I've seen them taking all precautions in regards to adhering to Covid-19 protocols and maintaining high standards.

I would like to conclude by saying one thing only. Although this Premier Inn is a 3-star hotel, the staff and service truly deserve a 4-star hotel rating for experience and well deserved high standards.

A very comfortable, clean and spacious room. The mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and enabled a great nights sleep.

We were in a 2nd floor rear facing room (facing the cliffs and not the sea), which meant the road noise was very loud if the window was opened. However, with the window closed and double glazing closed, there was no noise at all.

As advertised, there is no air conditioning in the rooms of this hotel, but a pedestal fan is provided which does help.

Also as advertised, due to Covid-19, housekeeping do not attend the rooms on a daily basis, but clean towels, extra tea/coffee etc are available from reception.

The hotel is in a great location, very near to the ferry terminal, Dover Castle and the marina.

We chose to have the meal deal at the onsite restaurant and the level of service wasn't consistent during our 2 night stay. Night 1 = the starter arrived at the same time as the main course, we waited 15 mins for a second drink (we had to ask as we weren't offered), we were overcharged and had to be sent to the Manager to sort out (which he did). The waitress was not attentive and dis-interested in us. However, Night 2 = our waitress was Charlie and she was polite, attentive and regularly checked we had everything we needed. Although some food items were unavailable, there was still plenty to choose from, and everything we chose was very tasty.

The breakfast is back to buffet style and that worked fine.

The staff were very friendly the initial check in was very simple and strait forward, the reception staff during the day and in the evening were very helpful, excellent customer service. We did not spend much time in the room we literally checked in dumped the bags in the room and went out and did not return till late.
Upon returning to the hotel there was no parking the hotel was at full capacity the night staff was very good pointing out additional street parting and said he’d check on car during the night , this made me feel at ease . We stayed in a family room on first floor the room had what you would expect from a hotel room. What stuck out was a broken floor board between the bathroom and main bedroom area, you had to step round the floor board to get into the bathroom . The bathroom had urine stains round the fixings , there was hair in the shower on the wall, stains on one of the towels , no soap in the dispensers, dust in the wardrobe. I think I drew the short straw with the beds as I had to sleep on a single bed with a mattress which was like cardboard I woke up feeling like the tin man. It was late in the evening when we returned to the hotel so there was not much that could be done about the defects with the room in the morning when it come to check out no one was at the desk and I just put the cards in the check out box.
The restaurant next door was nice the staff were very friendly and they had an excellent Covid system in place and this was explained to us as we were walked to our table . Our server was an older lady who was very organised she was very thorougher and attentive she put the younger staff to shame. The restaurant lady deserves some credit made the restaurant experience good.

Great location if you are taking Ferry. Only couple of minutes to terminal...
Very clean and nice view if you get sea front side or not so good, can be bit noise as road traffic.
Also can be very windy. Free car park and lots of spaces...
When drive out be aware of traffic cameras...

We visited Dover for a family wedding, we were welcomed by Louise and Matt who were so friendly and helpful. We had booked 2 rooms, one normal and one accessible. The bathroom in the accessible was alot bigger than we thought it would be but plenty of space for a wheelchair and room to manoeuvre.
Both bedrooms were a lovely size and in the normal room was a nice deep bath (deeper than at home!)
They both were very clean and surprisingly quiet considering we were facing the main road and on the ground floor and they were fully booked so didn't even hear anyone above us either.
As the rooms aren't been cleaned during our stay it was easy to get more tea and coffee from reception.
We used the restaurant for dinner on arrival and breakfast on both mornings, lovely food and plenty to chose from for breakfast too.
Overall it was a great stay and one of the best Premier Inn’s we have stayed at.
We will definitely return if we come to Dover again and will recommend you to everyone.

Thank you to all the staff we came into contact with during our stay. You are all Awesome!!

Our first hotel stay during the virus event (stayed at the end of July) and we were pleased to see a full range of precautions in place to protect customers and staff.
Check-in was using a computer terminal with room card-keys issued automatically. As expected the rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable at a fair price. There is plenty of free parking outside the hotel and the short distance to the port ensures a predictable start for ferry journeys.
Adam was one of the staff on duty during our stay and he couldn't have been more helpful.
The attached restaurant was not open during our stay (as part of the covid response, but food boxes were available if needed.

Down in Dover on business for 4 days and decided to return again to this hotel as I was very happy with my experience when I stayed there a few months ago.
Just as good this time around.
The location is great. Right on the seafront and if you are lucky enough as I was to secure a room at the front of the hotel the view is stunning and easily a five star view.
Although I didn't have a car there is a large car park in front on the hotel which is free to guests.
Just a few minutes walk away there are shops such as a very large M&S food store. There is also a Next shop and other brands.
Reception is friendly and efficient and I took advantage of the new pilot scheme where for £10 you can check in before the 3pm check in time. This worked well for myself as I was scheduled to work until late evening so it was great to get up to my room and organise everything before departing for work. Big thanks to Lee and colleagues on reception who are excellent ambassadors for their hotel.
I didn't have food in the hotel as I always prefer to eat lightly and so I bring my own food but I did have a few excellent coffee's there.
The weather was very hot but the room was equipped with a fan so all okay. I knew the hotel doesn't have aircon because the hotel website is clear about that so it wasn't a surprise.
My room was on the first floor and the windows were open, so in the evening I could hear guests who were sitting outside in the summer weather chatting and laughing with each other. All very pleasant and companionable and not a problem at all.
There was a little bit of boy racing going on one or two nights but nothing that kept me awake. That might change at weekends for all I know.
All in all it was a great stay in a great location in a hotel which is kept spotlessly clean and is staffed by lovely people.
Thank you all.

Room 109 bathroom floor has obvious signs of water damage. Felt like a cushion under your feet. Not ideal when showering young children. Definitely needed more staff at breakfast. Waitress who brought our continental food just kept huffing and puffing as though it's an inconvenience to her. Although we could see she was very busy, it is not pleasant for the huffing and puffing.
We asked the waiter who served us our cooked breakfasts for another drinks as myself and my children are happy with a jug of water. To which he blatantly passed the buck and said that the waitress will be round to take our drinks order. The waitress never came so we finished our breakfast and left. Eventually purchasing drinks elsewhere for my children, even though the premier Inn breakfast is all you can eat and drink.
When walking out I saw numerous empty tables with plates etc where customers had been that needed clearing.
Usually the breakfasts are help yourself to items, but with covid everything has to be brought to your table. More staff is definitely required.

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, Other at Dover Central (Eastern Ferry Terminal) Hotel
Responded 3 Aug 2021
Hello, Thank you reviewing your recent stay with us. We’re very sorry that you had a disappointing experience with us due to problems with your bathroom and disappointing service at breakfast. This certainly isn't the service we would experience for our guests when staying. We’ve ensured this feedback has been logged to the Hotel Management team so that they can look into these issues with the Maintenance and Breakfasts teams to prevent this experience from being repeated again in the future. In future, our Reception team are on hand 24/7 and so we would advise speaking with the team as soon as any issues arise to help resolve this whilst you're still in-house. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we hope we can welcome you for a more enjoyable stay in the future. Kind regards, Lauren

Our stay at this hotel was mixed. After a few visits we eventually were given a sea view room due to the manager intervening on our behalf. The room was clean and warm with the usual standard comfortable bed. Unfortunately the restaurant was not so great. After being told there are menus for the restaurant in the room we read through and picked what we wanted to eat and booked a table. Many items on the menu were unavailable when we came to order but the items we wanted were still available. Our starter choice had been moved from the usual starters which it was on in the room menu, to the festive menu but was individually priced, so we asked for two prawn cocktail starters. After checking the waitress told us we were not able to have this choice unless we also have the rest of the festive menu. Therefore, not being able to eat what we wanted to, which would in effect have cost us more than the festive menu, which we were happy to pay, we went into town to eat. At breakfast the following morning, only bacon and egg was on offer so we chose to downgrade to the continental menu. We were talking to the breakfast waitress about our experience the night before and she could not understand why we could not have the starter we wanted as it was individually priced and still could have been put through the till separately under the festive menu. Not many people were in the restaurant and I would suspect a lot of the prawns were still in the freezer the next morning. We appreciated due to supply issues some items were not available for dinner or breakfast, but it did not make sense why we were unable to purchase items that were available.
