Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came to this hotel for afternoon tea and were not disappointed. All staff were helpful & efficient especially the man who served us as he was lovely and had a lovely accent. I had gluten free which I couldn’t fault. My husband had the regular one. The windows looked out to the sea which was lovely. Highly recommend and would recommend. Thank you

We have been coming here for the last 3 years as it is a lovely hotel. The hotel is clean, staff friendly and views amazing. On this visit Katie was fantastic, so helpful with finding us a table in the fully booked restaurant and making sure we were looked after. Jodie at breakfast was very accommodating with wanting to help us and a great receptionist booking our next visit. They both went above and beyond , nothing was too much trouble and both are a credit to the hotel

Whilst I have only selected Feb23 as my visit, my colleagues and I have been guests at the San Clu for nearly the last 3 years . I have been staying regularly for at least 10 nights a month throughout that time and have been joined by my wife on quite a few occasions and thought it was about time i wrote a review for them. The hotel is situated overlooking the seafront and the harbour to the right, a brilliant position for views and nice walks. During that time most of the hotel has had a complete overall. The rooms have been updated and the bar has now been turned into a very comfortable and updated Brasserie with a new menu serving delicious food . There is also a fully equipped gym with sauna should that take your fancy A very welcoming hotel that cannot do enough for you . Although the hotel is only a 3 star it has 5 star staff and I cannot praise them enough for the way I and my work colleagues have been looked after. If you are looking to stay in Ramsgate and need a hotel I would certainly recommend the San Clu Hotel without any hesitation. 👍🏻👏

It was ok. Check in was slow, the rooms and surroundings are outdated but the bed was comfy. Breakfast only cold meats, croissants etc need to pay for cooked (we found that out in the morning so not ideal!). I’m sure there are nicer places in Ramsgate to stay unfortunately.

Wow, what a fantastic time we had. We only live locally but decided after many years of my wife cooking for for all the family on Christmas day, we would have a chilled 3 day break at The San Clu. And it was very chilled. We were given a suite on the 4th floor with a lovely view out to sea. Bed was lovely and comfortable, bathroom looked brand new, a lovely sofa with a Tv to watch. Breakfast was plentiful over the 3 days, evening meal on Xmas eve, Xmas Day Dinner and Meal on Boxing day were lovely and i'm really fussy with my food, so must have been good, Staff were pleasant and helpful. Even the owners were helping the staff collecting empty dishes which was nice to see Would definitely recommend

This hotel had everything I needed and is in a quiet but convenient location on the sea front. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and the breakfast was good. The decor is a bit tired and the key cards temperamental, but this is made up for by the friendly staff and the sea view. Overall, it's really good value and i would recommend.

We had a small room overlooking the front, which, for two nights, was ideal. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great and the staff were very pleasant. Continental breakfast was included, and although limited, the croissants were very good, and the ham was the proper stuff; thick carved pieces. The location was excellent. We walked to Viking Bay, and you could go to Broadstairs in the other direction. A short walk took you into town, where there is a huge choice of restaurants.

Very nice spacious room with full sea view. Friday night was noisy because the band in the restaurant downstairs was so loud (especially the drums). Good breakfast and location. Street parking or small carpark.

3.5 really. Very small car park which we couldnt find a space but easy to park on the street in front. Decent room for price compared to other hotels in the area. Breakfast was continental included in price but small fee for a lactate cooked. Didn't use the bar or other facilities. Well located for Ramsgate and the loop between Broadstairs and margate
