Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good location, clean and value for money. Not going to suit anyone who dislikes noise though - party room and disco on the same floor until midnight (noise easily covered by having tv on) and then other guests coming back in early hours talking from around 2-3 am (could get this anywhere, but if you choose to stay in a heavy nightlife area, then might be more expected - although not helped by thin walls). No lift as others have mentioned. The downsides mentioned were not big issues for me though. I was comfortable enough and bed was clean. It’s not luxury accommodation, but overall good value for money given central location. Staff were friendly.

Cosy place, beautiful city. Got a free upgrade to sea view room. Room was cosy and clean. Very quiet despite facing the street. The host was very nice. Wetherspoons is right across the street, according to Google, it’s the biggest one in the country.

I didn't actually make it to this hotel. I made a booking, via hotels.com, which clearly stated I was to 'pay at property', I have proof of this. The booking was for several months in the future. I looked at my bank account and I could see, the day after the booking, that they intended to take the full payment. I emailed them and all I got was a string of rude emails, basically saying it was 'their policy' to take all payment upon booking and that I took the 'risk' when I booked through a 'third party' website as to whether the booking conditions were correct. I provided them with the proof of the fact that 'Hotels.com' clearly said it was 'pay property' and I was told that if I didn't like their policies I could cancel. They actually said they were 'looking forward' to receiving the cancellation. Please be careful when booking this hotel via any third party website, they may not follow the booking conditions you expect them to.

The hotel is next to a very noisy nightclub with a 3am licence. Room vibrates with the noise. Night porter sympathetic; obviously he is used to guests complaining . Impossible to sleep. This is not mentioned on their website. Don’t stay here unless your plan is to spend all night in the nightclub.
