We stayed at The Russell Hotel over the Christmas period. We were warmly greeted by the manager and we were given room number 51 at the very top. The room was clean and spotless and we were given a box of complimentary chocolates and a card from the the hotel which I thought was a lovely touch. Breakfast was plentiful...

Tunbridge Wells has serious accommodation problems price-wise. In December a TW B&B was charging exactly TWICE the nightly rate of what is probably the best B&B in Bournemouth! We had read the reviews of the Russell Hotel but were definitely not disappointed.Of course parts of it are in a '60's time warp but we had a large bedroom, excellent bedding,...

Very shabby. Great location and an okish breakfast, but it's not had a penny spent on it since the 60's and I am not exaggerating! Very dated and very bashed. Cobwebs everywhere. Manky carpet. Too expensive for what you get!

Imposing building in a good position to enjoy Royal Tonbridge wells. Cleanish, warm, with good shower. However the decor is very old fashioned/clashing. A shame really, as could be fab if brought up to date. Ok breakfast. Wouldn't re visit.

After reading the negative reviews I was close to cancelling but decided that I could cope with a few scratches on the paintwork and outdated décor. Positives first – the bedding and towels were bright white and spotless. The breakfast was enjoyable. The young man on reception as I checked out was charming and polite. A 10-15 minute walk from...

We have stayed here a couple times and enjoyed our stay on both occasions. Nice little private car park is nice touch as well. Top tip is to book direct as you will save a few quid. The top floor room offer great views.

We spent two days at the Russell Hotel and we were very satisfied; All the staff from reception to breakfast were very friendly and polite. Breakfast food was good with plenty to choose from. Room although quite small was clean and bed very comfy. Tea and coffee; small TV and walk in shower; hair dryer and plenty of storage. Lovely...

Once again my usual choices of hotels were full so found the Russell on a search engine which caught my notice as the price looked very good so booked it on line. The hotel advertises free parking (a real boon in Tunbridge Wells) but arriving around 5.45pm found it only had capacity for about 8 cars. Needless to say it...

Desperately needs re-decorating, very old fashioned carpet, mis-matched and badly scuffed wallpaper. En suite in our bathroom pink, and tiles from 1970s grout same age, dirty needs re-doing. Mattresses throw you off to floor. Not very impressed for the price. Breakfast sausage was also underdone. Best thing about it is location to town centre.
