Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells is set in one of the town's architectural landmarks, a Grade II-listed sandstone mansion built as a private residence in 1762. We have retained its authentic detail carefully, adding our unique touch to the 34 bedrooms with antiques and memorabilia. Guests can enjoy a game of boules, dining on the garden terrace with its wonderful views across Calverley Park, or a wander through the hotel's very own vineyard. BEDROOMS: Housed within this impressive building are 34 timelessly styled bedrooms and stunning suites, all featuring luxurious handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, deep baths and powerful drench showers, plasma TVs, DVDs and air conditioning. BISTRO: Open all week, and under the tutelage of head chef Daniel McGarey, Bistro du Vin is at the heart of our hotel, a classic, French styled, elegant and informal setting for lunch, dinner, to meet, celebrate or simply pass the time. Dine on the finest produce the Kent has to offer from local heroes such as herbs and seasonal vegetables from local nursery chef's herbs, meat from Woodlands Farm and fish from Chapman's of Sevenoaks. These are only a handful of the suppliers included within our homegrown & local philosophy.

I booked an overnight stay for a business trip and this was the first Monday after lockdown so I was a little nervous, I needn't have been. The communication prior to arriving was excellent, I paid for a reserved parking space and had also asked to be put on standby for a reduced price upgrade. The staff at the hotel were fantastic, all masked up and very helpful, the moment I walked in I was welcomed with a wonderful smile from reception and was booked in seamlessly with a helpful and professional service. I ended up in the Deluxe Suite which was a lovely room with great views over the gardens and parkland. The bar and restaurant were fine, an understandably reduced menu but still enough to choose from, focus was very much on everything being sanitised and I certainly felt safe staying there, I will certainly be using this again as my base when visiting Tunbridge. Thanks HDV.

We arrived to a warm welcome. Although the Bistro wasn't open the receptionist made sure we were able to sit at our favourite table for my husband's birthday dinner. Our superior room was very comfortable and included slippers and robes as well as mineral water. Despite the restrictions of the "new normal" service was seamless and attentive in the bar and bistro. Another big plus is the ability to reserve a parking space in advance. We will happily visit again. The staff are amazing.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently. With the exception of the bartender who was quite abrupt and unhelpful, the staff were all extremely friendly and polite from the cleaners to the reception and waiting staff. The room was clean and the shower (over the bath) was powerful. (The bath was quite high-sided so bath/shower may not be very accessible if you have any mobility issues. Unfortunately there was a door marked staff only next to our room which was presumably a storage area for cleaning. This door was regularly opened and banged shut quite noisily during the day (and one evening) making an impromptu siesta on a hot day not the most relaxing. There was also a lot of road noise so we chose to sleep with the window closed to minimise this, which was not a problem as the room has a/c. The location was very convenient for a walk into town and we also took a stroll to a local park with a small boating lake which was very pleasant.
Breakfast is available here but quite pricy so we chose to visit a cafe we spotted whilst exploring the local area which was excellent. We ate here in the hotel one evening and found the service to be very good and the food to be acceptable but probably not quite the quality we had anticipated.

We know the hotel really well as we had our wedding reception there a few (too many) years ago, its a great building in a brilliant location with lovely rooms. The whole building has charm and character as you would expect from a Decimus Burton and the Bistro at the back of the hotel overlooks the garden and park.

Rachel met us at reception when we arrived, the check in was smooth and despite all the arrangements for COVID all worked smoothly. It still seems strange wearing masks and sanitising everything but the team seem to be doing the best they can and with a smile as well - the key was cleaned and slide out of a bag when we arrived so they really are trying hard to make things work.

Good to book the Bistro early as there are fewer tables although they do sit people in the bar as well but you have to cut them some slack as social distancing rules are necessary. The food was as good as it always was and served with care and attention although of course its a shame the waiters have to wear masks so it can be a bit impersonal but not the fault of the hotel at all.

Breakfast is clearly different, you pick up a tray with your coffee cup and cutlery etc and orders taken at the table. All worked well and the cooked breakfast was excellent as you would expect.

So overall, I would always recommend the hotel as the staff were all very friendly and it was definitely clean and safe. It can’t be easy running a hotel with everything thats going on so I have some sympathy for the team who I think are doing an amazing job. And yes, there was some refurbishment going on but it didn’t affect our stay at all. Nice to see a friendly team who are trying hard during these awful times - well done!

Went away on Boxing Day for our wedding anniversary and thought £135 / night B&B we would get above the average hotel room and stay, how wrong we were, the room which was a standard room was just about big enough to swing a cat, it had a very small bathroom which had either of us been on the large size would not have been able to get to the toilet, sink cracked and mould around the shower, could not fully shut the window so heard all the noises from outside and from the ice rink in the park. Our room was directly opposite the cleaners store cupboards so we were woken up each day around 7.30am with the foreign cleaners talking to each other, really felt like we were in the servants quaters. The meal in the restaraunt was expensive and we had to send 1 meal back because it was cold, which was deducted off the bill, the restaraunt manager Adam was very friendly and hepful and was actually the most impressive element of the hotel. Could not change rooms as the hotel was full and when we did complain the receptionist did thank me for my comments but didnt write anything down so not sure what if anything was recorded. Very disappointed with our stay esspecially being it was for our wedding anniverasry

We made a fairly last minute online booking for a one night stay and we were very pleased with our choice. First impressions on the telephone with staff were good, and the reservations team were very helpful with our follow up request. We didn't use the hotel parking as we found the multi-storey car park across the road very handy for when we arrived in town earlier in the day. The hotel is in a great location in the centre of town and perfect for all our excursions which were just a short walk away. We felt very festive as the hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas and also our room had a view of the skating rink and gardens beyond. Our room was very spacious (including the huge bathroom and shower), the bed was big and comfy and the complementary toiletries felt luxurious. The room was very clean, and located at the side and rear of the hotel making it quiet. Breakfast was tasty with the cooked food we ordered very fresh and the help-yourself options, particularly the yoghurt and fresh fruit salad (which were in individual portions), very good too. It was reassuring to see hand sanitiser in the breakfast room and throughout the hotel. We would love to return for another stay soon.

We stayed here for one night for a little Christmas getaway. I would highly recommend reserving your car parking space as makes things so easy when you arrive. Rachel on reception was extremely helpful and welcoming and showed us to our room which was thankfully ready when we arrived at lunchtime. Our room was beautiful and spacious and very clean with all the amenities you would need. The hotel is in a fantastic location so close to everything. We had drinks in the bar which were fine I did find it a little lacking in atmosphere no music etc so quite quiet but still fine for pre dinner drinks. We had dinner booked in the restaurant which was extremely quiet but yet service was a little slow. The young man that seated us took our drink order but never actually turned up with the bottle of wine we requested. We then had to wait sometime to be served and had to let the other waiter know that we had been waiting over 15 mins for our bottle of wine or to be spoken to. The food was nice enough but not anything special. The dessert I had was in all honestly a real disappointment. It was a clementine and chocolate Yule log but to be honest it was so dry. Otherwise it was a nice evening. I felt the staff on breakfast service were a little more buzzy. Breakfast was yummy. Overall a lovely stay and I would visit again but possibly eating out instead.

Following very poor service for my husband’s 70th birthday in December I was offered, as recompense, a complimentary afternoon tea for two.
As my husband is not keen on afternoon tea I decided to take my daughter instead.
A date was arranged and the meet and greet was lovely but what followed was certainly not an afternoon tea to remember.
The finger sandwiches of which there were 4 each were fine but not at room temperature to eat. This was followed by two acceptable scones with cream and individual small jars of strawberry jam rather than homemade.
The selection of small cakes were awful. Three were inedible!
The tea was served in boring white cups and saucers which I’m sure are used for breakfast service.
I have been served afternoon tea on numerous occasions and it was special.
This afternoon tea felt cold, unloved and stale.
Thank goodness I wasn’t paying £22.50 ahead for it.
Sadly this latest attempt to redeem themselves has fallen on stony ground and I will definitely not be recommending Hotel du Vin to any friends or family.

I live in Tunbridge Wells and recently had a friend visiting from Australia. I took her to the Hotel du Vin for breakfast - and it was superb. We opted for the full breakfast, which included a choice of hot dishes, a cold buffet, plus coffee or tea. We both had the poached eggs and avocado as a hot dish, which was beautifully presented and absolutely scrumptious. The cappuccinos were really good, too. Overall, though, it was the beautiful atmosphere of this historic hotel combined with the attentive, friendly service of the staff that made it a memorable experience.

I booked in Hotel du Vin for 2 nights, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All the staff were both efficient and engaging. Stated in Cloches et Toques Room, which was sumptuous and so well equipped. I have loved my stay at this Grade 1 Listed Decimus Burton Building in the heart of Tunbridge Wells.
I would recommend anyone who would like an indulgent business or pleasure stay, try this hotel.
Reception made me feel welcome and engaged so well.
Food, in my opinion was of a high standard for both breakfast and dinner. I had Sea Bass en Croute which was delicious.
Drinks are on the expensive side, however, worth that extra for the pleasure for being in such an historic and atmospheric environment.
I should like to thank both management and all the staff who made me and my friends feel so welcome.
Well done Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells!

The suite we stayed in had a separate walk in shower and then a bath in the bedroom. I personally didn’t use the lift but it was working. The front of house staff did offer help with the bags, but I politely declined the offer.
