Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The negative reviews are a little unfair about this hotel. It's an old building with quirky features such as angled walls snd steep stairs but that just added to the charm. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was really tasty. The location was great, parking across the road was fine, and reception were very helpful in giving us directions in the local area. We were there for a local wedding but would definitely return to get to know tunbridge wells a bit better as this was lovely too.

A lovely hotel in Tunbridge Wells at the top of the Pantiles. Nice rooms, breakfast was excellent, and I was lucky enought to be there for Thursday night jazz night which was fabulous. But most importantly the staff are the best! Mia and Charlotte and the rest of team are simply awesome. I'd definitely recommend visiting.

We had an comfortable and pleasant stay, with a well appointed room, with a nice bathroom. Obviously a very popular hotel for short stays, in a attractive area of Tunbridge Wells, close to restaurants and shops. Also parking is available, not too far away, but not outside the hotel.

This hotel looked gorgeous from the website but turned out it was tired and a bit tatty in real life. Not the lovely experience we had hoped for. We booked a Standard Double and while the bathroom was spotless, the bedroom was cramped and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed properly - there was a contact lens beside the bed. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows felt old and thin. The light shining through the gaps around the door from the hallway was so bright it kept us awake. We had to block it out as best we could with the bedspread. Everything felt like it needed a lick of paint and an update. The staff weren't particularly welcoming or attentive. It felt a bit like we'd booked a room above a pub.

Room Tip: If you want hotel service, don't stay here. This is more like a B&B without the breakfast included.

The hotel was very good but we had to pay for two nights because we couldn't get a refund for the night that we had to cancel. Also, we were told where to park but we were supposed to have put our VRN in the iPad at the front desk, This the manafger failed to tell us so I now have to pay £100 PCN. I contacted the hotel twice but they didn't respond.

We were not staying at the hotel but called in for drinks - and a snack but were told the kitchens were closed although it was only early afternoon and still busy. We had a drink - service was pretty slow - before moving on

This was an expensive yet dispiriting stay. Lumpy bed, noisy room, sticky bathroom floor but the most unbelievable part of it was being shouted at by the manager for asking for the sofa bed to be turned back into a sofa so my child could sit on it in our room. He was a really quite unpleasant and threatening human being who does not belong in customer service. The place was overstaffed but poorly run, our pillow had a stain on it and the staff really had a lack of pleasantries. It felt at points like we're were staying in a nightclub, banging doors and noise. Honestly wished we'd stayed at home. Would under no circumstances every visit again. And I suggest you don't either!

Great Gin Festival on the Pantiles spoilt by rude staff at TW Hotel. Sat down at a table outside and asked to order drinks to be told that we can't just sit down where we fancy. I asked why not as there were at least two empty tables? Then told sarcastically we had to queue and can't just sit where we liked. I said that's fine but as we were not aware no need to be rude about it. No hint of an apology so took our custom elsewhere. As residents of TW we will not be returning.

We paid £5 in order to access the restaurant on one of the Jazz on The Pantiles evenings. The menu was a set price of £29 with most dishes having supplements (steak supp. £17). The starters were ok except for the soup which appeared be made of packet soup with too much water. The main course of portobello mushrooms was actually 4 medium mushrooms with a smear of marmite(?) and a bit of tahini type spread. There was literally nothing else on the plate. The belly pork had a bean mush with no flavour and no accompaniment either. With 2 glasses of wine and 3 no alcohol beers, our bill came to £190. A complete and utter ripoff.

Reviews tend to be either very good or average, seemingly often based around room size. Sadly, we fall within the 'average' camp. Our room was pretty small with a smallish bed, a very small bathroom with a door that could only just close without hitting the loo and a shower over the small bath. The room was also on a slant (I accept it's an old building), but with little imagination given to decor - e.g. pretty lackluster furniture and a bookcase that didn't contain anything. All of this I could forgive, but at £200 without parking or breakfast, it was very expensive, even accounting for the fact that it was the Coronation weekend. We ultimately voted with our feet. We woke up very early the following morning and left without breakfast, thinking that we'd rather just get home as quickly as possible to have a shower in our own bathroom.
