Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Same story as most others. Booked a one night stay in September 2022 as convenient for my destination that evening. Several weeks later received a note via Booking.com that the booking was cancelled by the hotel as a "contract" had been extended. No email or phone call or even a text from the hotel; just a note on the booking app, which I noticed only by chance. COVID-related panicking has been the death of notions of customer service in this country. Everyone seems to feel they can get away without even the slightest attempt to serve customers.

We booked a reservation whilst we attend a event at the bonus arena only for them a month later to cancel us due to a extended group booking. Apparently there money is much better than ours. Cost us more now to book somewhere else as the prices have surged, hence why we booked in advance. They then don’t answer the phone when you try to call. Disgusting service

Received an email from a booking I made over a month ago advising me that my bookings had been cancelled due to a group extending their visit… with no solution offered on the email I decided to call and was advised there wasn’t anything they could do, their customer service is shocking and I wouldn’t ever re book here. I am now left with no hotel due to their lack of customer service.

Stayed here overnight in March and was pleasantly surprised. This was VERY good for a Britannia, I use the chain a fair bit and this hotel was really good in comparison to some. The guy in the restaurant Murak was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and the food was very good indeed.

We had a weekend away staying at this hotel. Very clean with friendly staff polite and welcoming. Our room heating did not work, spoke with duty manager all sorted in around ten minutes, he came up with a complimentary glass of wine for my wife and I. The rooms are spotless and well equipped. Great breakfast evening meal not as good and the bar food could be better my burger was well over cooked. Bar staff great good selection of drinks.

Spent 3 days at the Royal Hotel. Conveniently located next to the Railway Station and within walking distance to the town centre. Part of the Britannia Hotel chain you have an idea of the facilities and standard of accommodation. The room was warm welcoming spotlessly clean. Bathroom had a shower with a good supply of complimentary toiletries and great towels. The bed was comfortable with good quality linen. Spare pillows blankets and ironing kit in the wardrobe. The hotel has a nice reception with a comfortable lounge which has a well stocked bar. The staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't try the restaurant but the menu looked ok. I'd certainly stay there again. Good value for money.

Overnight stay with family to sample the delights of Hull. Still can’t believe what good value for money we had at the Royal Hotel. Nothing I can say negative , staff friendly and attentive on reception and in the restaurant. 3 course meal was delicious, Room was clean and comfortable, warm and spacious. Breakfast really nice . Lovely entrance foyer, near all amenities. We had a fun evening out around The Old Town , fantastic quant Olde worlde pubs. It was busy but everyone was very friendly. I would recommend to anyone to stay her. Thank you to Andrew, Sammy and Marek for their super service during dinner.
