Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This B&B is just wonderful and is on a lovely farm in a quiet setting. Beautiful and homely farmhouse which is immaculately kept. Very comfortable rooms and bathrooms with everything you could possibly need. You really feel spoilt when you stay here due to the owners attention to detail and the thoughtful effort they go to. The hosts couldn't be nicer or more welcoming. I can't reccomend this place highly enough. Looking forward to staying again sometime.

I stayed in this much loved beautiful guesthouse for 3 nights and couldn’t recommend it more. Its remote setting makes it an ideal place for hikers and those looking for a nice getaway surrounded by its magnificent scenery and nature. Sheila does a fantastic job in running this B&B by making the guests feel warm and welcome. The farmhouse is immaculately clean with a hearty stove fire lit every evening giving it a cosy feel. Sheila makes a lovely breakfast each morning which sets you up for the day. Her cakes are equally delicious. I’ve travelled quite a bit and I have to say this is one of the nicest guesthouses I’ve ever stayed in. 💜🥰

Had a lovely couple of nights at High Wray farm . Quite remote so no corner shop or pub .Sheila keeps her B and B immaculate. Breakfast was delicious with loads of choice from cereal fruit and yoghurt to full English breakfast Beautiful views from room . Sheep and owls on the farm and a lovely tranquil garden to sit in .

Oh my goodness - this place was just amazing. Sheila is a wonderful host who also makes a delicious breakfast. She was great at communicating with us, and also provided perfect suggestions on hikes that matched the amount of time we had (just a couple of hours one day; and a full day another day). Room was comfortable and clean. She even came in to restock the tissues and make sure things were ok. Loved that the location was a couple of miles outside of town - up in the hills where you get a little more peace and quiet, yet close to Ambleside, Grasmere and other towns.

Lovely relaxing stay here, made all the more perfect by Sheila making us feel so comfortable in this beautiful place. Lemon drizzle cake & cup of tea to welcome us was delicious & most welcome. All rooms are beautiful designed & the bedroom is perfect with en suite . Bed & the pillows are so comfy. Milk is supplied & a tasty shortbread biscuit. Sheila is absolutely the perfect hostess who does everything to a high standard to make the stay so relaxing. We chilled our wine & beer in the landing fridge to chill in the evening after a long busy day, & relaxed in the beautiful lounge, where the candles had been lit & made cozy. Breakfast selection & the whole dining experience in the beautifully laid out room was a delight. The sausages, bacon & eggs were amazingly tasty. This review probably sounds really gushing but can’t really explain how beautiful the whole stay was & how it added to making first time in Ambleside SO wonderful Highly recommend to anyone & will be returning with family for sure

Sheila and Chris were very welcoming and enthusiastic about their lovely, peaceful corner of the Lakes. The accommodation at the farm was very clean and comfortable and Sheila's breakfasts were superb. Afternoon cake was available every day and was extremely welcomed! Sheila's helpfulness and permanent cheerfulness was inspiring and our party of four could find no fault whatsoever in this our choice for a restful five night stay. Her insight into the local area was one of many attributes that makes Sheila a wonderful hostess.

So the owner commented very well via email. We arrived late and was given clear polite instuction on which room and greeted with tea/coffe/sherry. The room was clean and tidy very homely and had all the condiments, shampoo/ ect Fantastic view from window. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choices including full english, special /eggs Benedict, cereal, yogurts and fruits .. all fresh , including tea, coffe and juices . The lady who run it was very welcoming and very accommodating. The only slight criticism was it was a little hot in morning, radiators were on, supose its ace when its cold... We had a fantastic say and would highly recommend high wray farm for a short break with lots of views and walks ...

At the risk of repeating the many superlatives of others, we were back for the umpteenth time in 20 years, and Sheila's superb welcome, attention and standards were as high as they have always been. A very cosy home-from-home 😊

I was unable to visit due to illness however, my sister Sheila still went and I am writing this based on her visit. The host, Sheila was very welcoming and warm and couldn't do enough to ensure my sister's visit was memorable. The facilities were comfy and breakfast fulfilling, which set her up for the day's walking. Sheila (owner) went as far as driving Sheila to the train station on her departure. All in all, she cannot recommend this enough and will definitely make a return visit.

This farmhouse B&B (and it also has a self catering cottage) is run to immaculate standards and it really doesn't get any better than this. There are lots of small finishing touches that are so welcome - like fresh milk in a fridge on the landing - that make all the difference. Breakfast is terrific. The beds were really comfortable. The towels were lovely and fluffy. The lounge is really warm. Easy to park. We stayed for 3 nights and if we visit the area again we would definitely stay here again.
