Just stayed the night at this lovely place. Room 11 a great bedroom with a gorgeous sitting area. Bathroom large and beautiful with their own homemade soaps all smelling amazing. All superbly and tastefully decorated with plenty of space and a great view. Dinner was sublime after a view drinks in the fantastic bar. Fire burning great ambience and the... More

The Drunken Duck is not your average pub. For starters it's way out of town (Ambleside), and is in the middle of nowhere, so your own transport is a must. Even so, the restaurant has a big reputation for great food, and it is full every night. The reputation is well deserved. The menu is interesting and varied, and the... More

Stayed here for our anniversary recently and was most impressed with the accomadation, lovely setting with great views over Ambleside and we were made most welcome. Stayed in a courtyard room in a block of three with a small lounge and separate garden. Everything very clean but the only downer was no tea&coffee in the room but you could ring... More

Stayed for two nights with dinner in the restaurant on both nights and we can't fault it. From the moment we arrived everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and the room was lovely. The huge scone with afternoon tea was a particular treat but all of our food was beautifully presented and delicious.

First visit to the DD. I booked a table for four because I wanted our guests to have an enjoyable meal of a high standard - and was not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service was just right and the prices, although highish (£38/head for three courses excluding drinks/tip) represented good value for money. Based on our visit I... More

Popped in to the Drunken Duck after searching on Trip Advisor for a local place to grab a pre-wedding lunch. Although very busy when we arrived we got a table quickly and settled for what turned out to be a relaxed afternoon. The 'Bowls' for lunch were a very hearty meal especially with a side of chips. The Indian Bowl... More

Cracking pub with a good range of beers. The food and atmosphere is top notch. Not far from Ambleside and well worth the visit. We went for dinner and was lovely and warm. Would recommend the Pit bull beer.

Comfortable overnight stay and excellent dinner. Looking forward to breakfast! Added bonus of afternoon tea & scones. Unusual menu with added extras. Excellent coffee. Good beer too. Glorious location - in snow today.

Booked a table for two for my wife's birthday. We found the bar to be welcoming and friendly, nice atmosphere on a Thursday evening. Menu was brought to us and order taken while we sat in the bar. The food was very good, slightly quirky but we had looked at the sample menu online beforehand. The warm beetroot salad was... More
