Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

wonderful hotel with brilliant service. Big shout out goes to Cas & Zoe who both made my stay fun and welcoming. The food was great too. Breakfast lovely and the pub and seating areas were brilliant and comfy.

View across the lake is wonderful especially at sunset & when it started snowing. Food was expensive & not very nice. Chicken curry was all sauce, lamb dish was all gristle. Breakfast was cold. Stay was made worse by fire alarm going off 5 times in the night plus noise from staff banging doors & changing barrels. Never again.

Really enjoyed our 'Winter Break' stay at this The Wateredge Inn. It is very conveniently located for Ambleside town (5 minute walk). The rooms (we stayed in Windermere rooms) are huge, comfy beds and spotlessly clean (rooms were a little light due to outside lighting on all night - so take eye mask if you're sensitive to light). Ask for room not on the main road as there is traffic noise from quite a busy road, but we didn't hear a thing as we were backing onto the otherside of the building. Rooms were perfect for dog friendly stay as the patio door opened directly onto outside space (to save us going through main reception to let our dogs out for early morning wees!) The price was exceptional value for the Winter Break stay which included Full English breakfast (with continental choices) and evening meal. The dinner menu provided a varied and nice quality choice of classic pub food. Drinks were good choice of decent wines and ales were served very well. Staff welcoming and lovely to our dogs. Was a little short staffed (down to sickness as we were informed), which did mean that they were rather stretched at times. But we would definitely stay here again for this price. (£218 for two nights half board - two people). Dogs were charged at £10 per dog additional.

We were pleasantly surprised just how dog friendly the WAteredge Inn is. THey are welcomed in specific rooms and at every meal. The Superior/Family room has loads of space more like a flat without kitchen and had patios doors onto a small patio area. The nearby (2 mins) Borrans Park was ideal for short exercise walks and beautiful morning and sunset views over the lake. Cant imagine how busy the place will be in the High Season but a perfect place for a few days away centrally located to the South Lake District.

The staff are really friendly and the room was very clean, spacious and beautiful. We had a lovely evening meal in the inn and for breakfast we had a good variety of food to choose from. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

We visited the Wateredge inn a few days ago and was shocked. I’ve been here countless times over the years with family and have always enjoyed the views and food, never had any problems. We sat down outside and noticed the table had the option to order on the app so we chose to do so for food and drinks. Good started coming out with no sign of drinks and quite rude service. After 25 minutes one of us went in to check on the drinks and one of the waitresses came out and told us off for using the app. She said it shouldn’t have been available to use however there were no signs saying not to and the app was open and working. She rudely told us we’d have to go in for drinks which was fine but just confusing as we wouldn’t have used the app if we’d been told. The bar staff then told us they’d forgotten about our drinks which was fine as it was busy, so we understood although annoying to have food and no drinks. Not long after another waitress came out and started shouting very loudly at people in the garden saying they couldn’t be on the grass (we were on the gravel) but I don’t believe it was clear for those on the grass that they weren’t allowed to sit there. Added a very weird and awkward atmosphere that I haven’t experienced anywhere else. Super disappointed as I had recommended we came here to my friends as I’d always had possible experiences. I really don’t think staff should be shouting or telling customers off for mistakes made due to a lack of clear directions to not use the app or go on the grass. I’ve worked in restaurants and bars myself in tourist destinations and couldn’t imagine talking to customers this way even during busy periods. Although the food was expensive for the service we had I did really enjoy the Cumberland sausage and it came out quickly so the kitchen staff were great.

Excellent venue, good food, friendly staff, lots to do in the area, walking, boat cruises on the doorstep. Rooms were cosy and quiet, dog friendly and plenty of tables available for meals. Something for all ages.

We chose this Inn as we hadn't stayed there before. Our room (1) had a delightful bedroom with two windows overlooking the lake and one to the side. Nice large superking size bed. However, on entering the shower room this was where it was let down. The shower cubicle measured 24" x 22" hardly enough room to get in, never mind shower! I had researched the menus on line and one of the reasons for booking was the large breakfast selection available, which I was looking forward to selecting a different option each morning of our stay. However on the first morning we were told only the hot buffet was available which was in essence was an English breakfast served from a hot plate. There was fruit, cereals, yogurts. This was very disappointing as we felt it was a mis-representation/mis-sell of what they should have been offering. I asked for scrambled egg one morning as didn't want fried egg and a watery bowl of egg was served. Staff said that the breakfast menu options should not have been shown on the website. I have since complained to Inn Collection head office and only been offered 20% off a future stay which is not satisfactory as that, or a similar offer is available to all. We will not be staying at an Inn Collection Group Inn again. No response received from the Chief Executive, very disappointing customer service.
