We have stayed at this very dog friendly hotel several times and can't fault it. The staff are amazing, always have a smile for us and a treat for the dog 🐕😃😃. Dogs are allowed in the rooms and bar area. The menu has plenty to choose from and the food and service is excellent. The room we had was fabulous, warm and comfortable with a wonderful view!! Co We will be going back😄😄😄😄😣👍👍👍👍🐕🐕
First stay back at Skelwith Bridge since before Covid and as always had a fabulous stay. The hotel has never failed to deliver in its service, accommodation and (important for me) dog friendliness. This was a solo trip to meet up with a walking group and so there was just myself and my dog in a room plenty big enough for a dog bed and a lovely spacious bathroom. Breakfast was offered and served in the comfy snug so that my dog could join me and I still had my own friendly waitress service. The extremely reasonable packed lunch was more than enough to fuel me for a day on the fells and kept me going all the way home to the Midlands later that evening. Sadly I couldn't stay longer but we will be back for a longer weekend in July. Highly recommended. Thank you Skelwith Brige
We have stayed here a number of times and have always been very satisfied. The staff are all wonderful and very welcoming. If you have a four legged friend I could not recommend it highly enough. It is our dog Hugo's favourite hotel and he has stayed in many. This could be due to all the fuss he receives whenever he stays or maybe the delicious breakfast sausage. Either way he loves it. If he is happy then so are we. Thanks for everything Skelwith Bridge. We will be back soon.
A very friendly and special hotel in the heart of the Lake District. The service exceptional and all the staff really cared to make your stay the best that it could be Lovely food with fresh ingredients and an excellent choice. A great place to stay.
Thank you John and amazing staff at Skelwith Bridge Hotel for being so wonderfully friendly, warm and welcoming as always. I always come away feeling re-charged and looking forward to my next stay at Skelwith. Everything was perfect and you all work so hard to make visitors feel comfortable and happy. Food was gorgeous and basically……I can’t wait for my next stay. Have a wonderful Christmas and hope to see you all very soon x
Why have the management not made any attempt to contact those of us who have booked to stay this weekend? Lines at hotel down from 8am this morning- surely a social media post or an attempt to access WiFi in nearby Ambleside? Why no attempt or any kind whatsoever?? No attempt by anyone from the Skelwith Bridge. hotel - after a 3 hour drive no apologies on arrival not bothered at all ! This was a special birthday occasion booked many weeks ago - I’m stunned at the disgraceful attitude of the manager John Doran who wasn’t slightest bit interested or bothered about our upset or the fact we would have to drive another 3 hours to get home - While I appreciate the management have no control over the lines going down they DO have control over how they deal with this and how the treat their customers! The manager just stood and said they weren’t open No plan B no apology no empathy - I find this completely unacceptable! 😡…
Another wonderful stay in this friendly and cosy hotel. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious across our 3 night stay. All the staff are lovely and friendly. Our rooms were really comfortable. We were made almost as welcome as our dog 😂. And, we had a lovely family night around the pool table.
We had a lovely few days here would highly recommend this country hotel. We have stayed a number of times now and always recieve a warm welcome. Accommodation is cosy and food good. Our dog Hugo adores his stays and is totally spoit even down to his sausage arriving on a paper plate for breakfast. If you are looking for a dog friendly holiday this is definitely for you. Thanks to all the staff who are amazing
I rung up Skelwith Bridge hotel on Saturday afternoon to book a room for that night. The lady that answered the phone quoted me a price that was higher than booking.com price for the same room type. When I asked why she said “if it’s cheaper on booking.com then book it through them”. It left me puzzled, because why would a hotel turn away direct booking when they can save 15% on commission by taking my booking direct? I just thought that the receptionist couldn’t be bothered to take my details so it left me wondering if all the other staff at the hotel would be the same. I never booked a room with them and I guess the saying “first impressions matter” really is right. I booked direct with other hotel in Ambleside.
Joanne and all the staff were so friendly & welcoming after a tiring day exploring the Lake District. Breakfast was served in a sunny setting, with all selections cooked to order. Tracey served the best fresh baked croissants ever! The dinner was pricey so we opted for the cozy bar, with delicious soups & salads, fantastic sea bass, followed by a selection of desserts. Dan made a memorable Blood Orange Gin & Tonic, served with a smile & time to chat. Beds were comfortable, with plenty of pillows & towels. We had a view of the mountains. I highly recommend this hotel & hope to return soon.
