Nice hosts. Many options for breakfast. Super detailed introduction of facilities. We were upgraded to a bigger room for more convenience which gave the hosts credits for being considerate. The charge of car parking might be an issue though.

Thank you for taking time to review Brathay Lodge. We apologise for any additional noise that may have occurred during your stay this isn't generally the case as we begin admin duties between 10.30 - 6.00 as most people are out for the day walking etc however if it becomes an issue we will remove the room for sale. We're pleased you found the bed, room size, spa bath, location etc to your liking and that you took the option to book direct and use one of the many benefits! We hope to see next year and we can offer one of the remaining 19 rooms that may be more appropriate. Regards

Booked through booking.com, found out parking was chargeable at £10 per night just because we didn’t book direct. Public car park very close by worked out at £5 per day.... Bit cheeky........ Continental breakfast only, not really for us. Our fault, should have checked. Room

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed the experience. Great location, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff! The only slight negative was we didn't book direct and hadn't realised there would be a charge for parking. No charge if you book direct.

You can catch the main line from London to Oxenholme and change there to Windermere. Windermere is approx 4 miles from Ambleside (bus or taxi). We have the bus stop just around the corner approx 100 metres. Lake Windermere is 15 minutes walk, you can catch the boat returning to Ambleside etc. Thank you
