Brathay Hall is the residential training centre of Brathay Trust, the national charity that inspires young people to become successful, confident and responsible citizens. Set in 360 acres of mature woodland and rolling pastures, at the head of Windermere, the imposing Georgian country house offers B&B accommodation suitable for all the family. The Hall is set in its own grounds on the north shore of Windermere, with beautiful views of the lake. The site offers a variety of accommodation, with something to suit all pockets from single en-suite through to luxury lodges with King size beds, seating area and good sized bathrooms. All rooms are en-suite, with colour television, tea and coffee making facilities. The Loughrigg rooms are all single en-suite and are detached from the main building, with their own parking area; Helvellyn rooms are en-suite, and can be either singles or twinned, and are situated in the main Hall; the Scafell rooms are our latest addition and take the form of luxury lodges, again detached from the main building; all are en-suite; and feature picture windows with stunning views of the Cumbrian hills. Breakfast is served from 8am – 9am in our dining room, where you can gaze out across the grounds at the beautiful lake and hills, truly an inspiring start to the day.

This is located on the bank of Lake Windermere and falls in the Lake District. The building is pretty old but the rooms have all the modern facilities. Staff was very helpful and super friendly. They offer services for team building activities and also offer opportunities for

A grand old building with great view of the lake but ask for front room. Spotlessly clean. The restaurant is modelled on1960s factory canteen but it is ok for buffet breakfast. The coffee is poor, needs a new machine. Porridge would be nice. The car park is 100 yards away in

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us! We are always looking at ways to improve our offering but staying true to the use of the site for our core business of being the home of Brathay Trust a Children's Charity - This may explain the canteen feel of the dining room. We have recently had the coffee machine installed to cope with the demands of a very busy site for event days and functions and not designed for smaller offerings therefore this may of been the issue. We do have a separate coffee machine in the reception for you to purchase a larger variety of coffee offerings. Thank you for raising the point about the lighting to the car park and with the darker nights coming in it is certainly something we will look into to see if we can improve that area. Its great to hear you will stay again and hopefully on your next visit you will continue to see our efforts to improve the offering. Kind Regards Kirby Linton Client Relationship Manager

We stayed in one of the cabins which was lovely with a fantastic view, we even had a little deer run past our window! The room was clean apart from a few cobwebs on the ceiling and a dead spider in our bed! There was also no maid service even though we saw her in the room next

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us! We really appreciate all feedback so we can try and learn and improve on our service levels. We aim to daily go in and service each room although it looks on this occasion that your room was missed, we can only apologise for this oversight. I hope this does not deter you from returning. Couldn’t do better. Not a 5 Star in terms of room service and stuff like that, breakfast is institutional, but amazing comfortable rooms with views and huge grounds. About a mile from the first ambleside car park. No dinner for hotel guests and walking into ambleside requires

Hi, Windermere is the nearest rail station, then a bus to Ambleside then a short taxi ride or 15 minute walk.

I believe Manchester airport is the one you should look at. a good site to check for flight option would be skyscanner.
