Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped in for dinner after my other 2 favoured options were closed. Someone had gone to lengths with the Xmas decor and it was warm and welcoming. Menu look ok but promised to be quality if it lived up to everything else. Sadly it didn’t, turned out to be quite the disappointment. Someone in the kitchen clearly wasn’t living what they were doing because a caring hand would not of scraped out the scraps and last few chips from the last batch and served them and might just have warmed the bun the burger was on, you know the way they do in most places a step up from a takeout. The chips though, oh my gosh, I wear tinted varifocals so I thought initially it was that and I moved them down it wasn’t. They were really dark and dare I say a little grey… in fact out of what was a small portion I had to leave 3 of the greyest and I was starving. On leaving however happened to notice someone on an adjoining table get chips and they looked like mine should have, fresh, even more annoyed. Come on guys, a little more care and attention to match what the front of house are doing. NB: Special Cudos to the Spanish waitress, great attitude, lovely presence.

Great hotel. The only down side is choice of food on the menus. Breakfast lovely . Some rooms are small but hey you are only sleeping there. Staff really good. Location is great we have been going to the lakes for years.

Had a wonderful few days In Ambleside and at the hotel. The room was a basic pub room, bathroom was clean, television placed on an odd wall to placement of bed so not able to use once we had got into bed. Staff were very pleasant, hotel bar great and lively, breakfast was substantial to fill up before a hike .

Loved the hotel, the breakfast was incredible, the room was good if a little small, light not working and what felt like a hole in the floor under the carpet. That said the location is perfect. The room was spotless and the food excellent. They could really do with more bar staff as the service was slow.

We were at the Ambleside inn for dinner last night. I ordered the hotspot as it was one of the few remaining things on the menu as the kitchen was shutting at 9pm. As the waiter was clearing the plates, I remarked that the potatoes were uncooked hence why I had left the majority of my food. Our waiter was quite rude, hostile and dismissive and told me that the chef was sitting over there if I wanted to raise the complaint with him personally. This was the second time I’ve been to the inn and the food was below average the first time so I won’t be returning and I would advise others to as well. The atmosphere inside was lovely but sorely let down by the unfriendly service and poor food.

Lovely building with really comfy bed in a fantastic location. Although there is no parking it only cost £20 via the park and Pay App only 5 minutes away. Lots of nice eateries in walking distance and once parked we didn’t touch the car again until we left. Local walks are fantastic too.

Great hotel with the best bar and restaurant in the area. Great beer and drinks available but the food was excellent and the breakfast top notch. Didn’t take the dog, but this is a dog friendly hotel and they really accommodated for them too from what I saw
